Q Fever Endocarditis: A Challenging Diagnosis in a Patient Referring Weight Loss and Anorexia, and With Granulomas in Gastric Biopsy Specimens.

Diagnosis of Q fever endocarditis is challenging since clinical findings are non-specific and diagnosis is mainly made by indirect methods such as serology. A progressive constitutional syndrome, severe asthenia, anorexia with no fever and histopathological findings of non-necrotizing gastric granulomas in a gastric biopsy were found preceding a cardiac failure in our case report. Prolonged treatment with doxycycline and hydroxychloroquine is mandatory, and cardiac valve surgery may be needed.

Association of Low Protein-to-Carbohydrate Energy Ratio with Cognitive Impairment in Elderly Type 2 Diabetes Patients.

Background/objectives: The relationship between macronutrient intake and cognitive decline in older adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains underexplored.

Methods: This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the association between the protein-to-carbohydrate energy ratio (%E:P) and cognitive impairment among 192 elderly T2DM patients. Cognitive function was assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and the Self-Administered Gerocognitive Exam (SAGE), while dietary intake data, including (%E:P), was gathered using a validated semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire.

Effects of active breaks on educational achievement in children with and without ADHD: study protocol and rationale of the Break4Brain project.

The Break4Brain project aims to elucidate the effects of both acute and chronic physical activity (PA) on educational achievement in children with and without Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This study will be conducted in two phases: a cross-over design followed by a hybrid type 1 implementation-effectiveness trial, which includes both a cluster randomized controlled trial (RCT) and a qualitative study. In phase I, 60 children aged 10-12, with 30 each from ADHD and non-ADHD groups, will participate in a laboratory-based study over 4 days within 1 month.

Objectives: New combinations of β-lactams and β-lactamase inhibitors, such as ceftolozane/tazobactam could be useful to combat biofilm-driven chronic infections by extensively resistant (XDR) but resistance development by mutations in the Ω-loop of AmpC has been described. However, these mutations confer collateral susceptibility to carbapenems. Thus we aimed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and the prevention of resistance development of regimen alternating ceftolozane/tazobactam and imipenem.

Materials And Methods: Studies evaluating the outcomes (efficacy and safety) of robot-assisted ileal conduit creation or artificial urinary sphincter (R-AUS) implantation or augmentation cystoplasty or continent urinary diversion creation in patients with NLUTD were included. The search strategy and studies selection were performed on Medline, Embase and Cochrane using the PICOS method according to the PRISMA statement (PROSPERO 2022 CRD42022333157).

Individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders exhibit overlapping emotional, somatosensory and motor deficits. Although brain processes underlying these impairments have been extensively studied in a separate way, the brain interaction of these inputs is an innovative line of research. Here we present a new EEG methodology for exploring the interactive brain activity of sensorimotor and affective stimuli.

Adult Code Sepsis: A Narrative Review of its Implementation and Impact.

This narrative review explores the implementation and impact of sepsis code protocols, an urgent intervention strategy designed to improve clinical outcomes in patients with sepsis. We examined the degree of implementation, activation criteria, areas of implementation, personnel involved, responses after activation, goals and targets, impact on clinical indicators, and challenges in implementation. The reviewed evidence suggests that sepsis codes can significantly reduce sepsis-related mortality and enhance early administration of treatments.

PBMC transcriptome reveals an early metabolic risk profile in young rats with metabolically obese, normal-weight phenotype.

Metabolically obese, normal-weight (MONW) phenotype is characterized by visceral adiposity and obesity-related complications despite the absence of excess body weight. Early identification of this phenotype is crucial to establish preventive strategies. We aim to validate the utility of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) transcriptome to detect metabolic risk related to the MONW phenotype at early life stages (young adulthood).

Methods: Databases were systematically searched up to 31 March, 2022, for evidence from randomised controlled trials and prospective cohort studies on adherence to a dietary pattern alone or in combination with lifestyle behaviors and incidence of or mortality from primary BC in adult females.

An online workshop to raise awareness of pelvic floor in track and field female athletes: a quasi-experimental study.

Introduction: Track and field is a high-impact sport that may facilitate pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) of females. Although increasing the information may reduce deleterious habits, the traditional workshops to date did not motivate and engage the female athletes. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of an online educational workshop about pelvic floor awareness on knowledge and habits of track and field female athletes.

Background: Prematurity is associated with an increased risk of persistent wheezing but the underlying mechanisms are not well defined. The aim of this study was to identify blood transcriptional profiles associated with the development of wheezing in a cohort of moderate to late preterm infants and to define immune gene expression changes associated with wheezing.

Materials And Methods: A convenience sample of a multicenter birth cohort (SAREPREM) of moderate-late preterm children followed during the first 3 years of life was analyzed.
