Enzymes are crucial for various technological applications, but their inherent instability and short lifespan pose challenges. This study presents facile immobilized enzyme technology with the development of thermoresponsive enzyme-polymer conjugates (EPCs), using glucose oxidase (GOx) as a model enzyme, to address these limitations. By conjugating heteropolymers to the glycan moieties of GOx through a precise polymerization process, we could modulate the lower critical solution temperature of the EPCs, enhancing enzyme performance without compromising its active site.

Background: The Crohn's Disease (CD) Activity Index (CDAI), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Questionnaire (IBDQ), and IBD-Fatigue (IBD-F) scale are useful patient-reported outcome (PRO) tools for assessing the treatment benefits of vedolizumab (VDZ) beyond clinical trial endpoints in patients with CD.
Objectives: To assess clinical response, clinical remission, steroid-free remission, changes from baseline for PROs, and safety in a real-world cohort of patients with moderate-to-severe active CD treated with VDZ.
Design: POLONEZ II was a multicenter, observational, prospective study across 10 Polish centers from April 2020 to October 2023 for 54 weeks in patients with CD eligible for reimbursed VDZ.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the effects of overseas assignments on the metabolic factors associated with lifestyle disease including body mass index, blood pressure, plasma glucose, lipid profiles, liver enzyme, and uric acid in Japanese individuals.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using annual health examination data from employees of the Panasonic Corporation in Japan. We evaluated the differences in the changes in metabolic factors associated with lifestyle disease during the observation periods between the overseas and non-overseas assignment groups.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the different phases of the learning curve for robotic distal pancreatectomy (RDP) in international expert centers.
Summary Background Data: RDP is an emerging minimally invasive approach; however, only limited, mostly single center data are available on its safe implementation, including the learning curve.
Methods: Consecutive patients undergoing elective RDP from 16 expert centers across three continents were included to assess the learning curve.

Background And Aims: The clinical characteristics and risk factors involved in the development of liver fibrosis in the subtypes of steatotic liver disease (SLD) remain unknown. We examined the clinical characteristics of SLD subtypes using a large Japanese cohort.
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional analysis (total n = 108,446).

Radiofrequency (RF) hyperthermia has been widely used for tumor ablation since magnetic-fluid-hyperthermia (MFH) can be utilized for increasing temperature in tumor-region as a complementary-method for hyperthermia. In this study, the effectiveness of using the magnetite-nanoparticles (FeO) in RF hyperthermia for breast cancer (BC) treatment by determining 3D-temperature-distribution using bioheat-transfer-mapping was evaluated. A breast-phantom with a tumor region was placed in an RF-device with 13.

Introduction: The purpose is to analyze the changes produced in subjects with an overdipper pattern of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring with the aim of understanding the pathophysiology of normal tension glaucoma.
Methods: A cross sectional study was performed in patients exhibiting overdipper and non-overdipper blood pressure patterns, respectively. Different optic parameters were assessed including the analysis of ganglion cell layer (GCL), peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) and Bruch's membrane opening-minimum rim width (BMO-MRW), as well as changes produced in choroidal thickness (CT) and lamina cribrosa (LC) position at two different periods of the day (early morning and evening).

Inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) as an anesthetic strategy has shown conflicting results in terms of efficacy in the treatment of patients with irreversible pulpitis. Mepivacaine and articaine are anesthetic agents commonly used in the IANB technique for pulpal anesthesia. This review aimed to compare mepivacaine and articaine regarding pain and success rate.

ACTION Switzerland (NCT05232786) examined obesity-related perceptions, attitudes, behaviours and potential barriers to treatment among people with obesity (PwO) and healthcare professionals (HCPs). In March/April 2022, adult PwO (body mass index ≥30 kg/m, per self-reported height/weight) and physicians/certified dietitians who manage PwO in Switzerland completed online surveys in a cross-sectional design. Overall, 1002 PwO, 125 physicians and 25 dietitians completed the survey.

Aim: Lipoprotein (a) [Lp(a)] is a well-established risk factor for cardiovascular disease independent of low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C). The Lp(a) concentrations were inconsistent between the immunoassays. This study aimed to investigate whether harmonization of Lp(a) measurements can be achieved using a serum panel value assigned with the IFCC-endorsed mass spectrometry-based reference measurement procedure (IFCC-MS-RMP).

Abstarct: BACKGROUND: Early recurrence after esophagectomy is often used as a surrogate for aggressive tumor biology and treatment failure. However, there is no standardized definition of early recurrence, and predictors for early recurrence are unknown. Therefore, we aimed to define an evidence-based cutoff to discriminate early and late recurrence and assess the influence of neoadjuvant treatment modalities for patients with esophageal or gastroesophageal-junction adenocarcinoma (EAC).
