Third Proceedings of The North American Airway Collaborative (NoAAC): Consensus Statement on Trial Design for Airway Stenosis.

Importance: Airway stenosis is a rare but debilitating disorder that significantly degrades the quality of life in affected patients. Treatments are primarily surgical, and disease management lacks established medical therapies. The North American Airway Collaborative held its third symposium at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 15, 2024, focused on strategies to advance the care of these patients.

Use of Intraoperative Frozen Section to Assess Surgical Margins in HPV-Related Oropharyngeal Carcinoma.

Importance: Given the favorable overall prognosis of human papillomavirus (HPV)-related oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) and the morbidity of increased adjuvant therapy associated with positive surgical margins, large-scale studies on the accuracy of frozen sections in predicting final surgical margin status in HPV-related OPSCC are imperative. Final surgical margin status is the definitive assessment of tumor clearance as determined through surgeon-pathologist collaboration based on permanent analysis of frozen section margins, main specimens, and supplemental resections.

Objectives: To assess the accuracy and testing properties of intraoperative frozen section histology (IFSH) in assessing final surgical margin status in patients undergoing transoral surgery for HPV-related OPSCC.

Mutations of lead to developmental abnormalities in multiple organs/tissues including the brain, craniofacial and skeletal bones, and tooth structures with unknown mechanism(s). Here, we find that ANKRD11, via a short peptide fragment in its N-terminal region, binds to the cohesin complex with a high affinity, implicating why mutation can cause CdLS.

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) exerts its physiological roles through the endothelialdifferentiation gene (EDG) family LPA receptors (LPAR1-3) or the non-EDG family LPA receptors (LPAR4-6). Materials And Methods: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the salivary promoter methylation of EDNRB, MGMT and TIMP3 genes in H&NC patients (n = 100), premalignant lesions patients (n = 25) and healthy controls (n = 50). Blood and saliva samples were collected from all three groups and 20 concomitant tumour tissues were collected from the H&NC patients.

Recent Findings: The nervus intermedius is a branch of the facial nerve. NIN presents as a rare neuralgia of this nerve, causing deep ear pain, which may radiate to the auditory canal, auricle, mastoid, soft palate, temple, and angle of the jaw.

Here we study the long-term effects associated to DBS comparing outcomes with a matched control group. A prospective observational study of 40 patients with PD with bilateral STN-DBS, with a mean follow-up of 9 (6-12) years was conducted.

Compressed Sensing-Based Cine-MRI for Location of Dysphagia and Swallowing Function assessment in Patients with Head and Neck Cancer: A Comparative Study.

Cine magnetic resonance imaging (Cine-MRI) may evaluate the swallowing function and locations of patients with dysphagia, which requires very fast imaging speed. Compressed sensing is a technique that allows for faster MRI imaging by sampling fewer data points and reconstructing the image via optimization techniques, crucial for capturing the rapid movements involved in swallowing. This study aimed to analyze swallowing function and locations in patients with head and neck cancer and healthy individuals using Cine-MRI based on compressed sensing.

Effect of Different Reduced Training Frequencies After 12 Weeks of Concurrent Ballistic and Aerobic Training on Muscle Power and Triceps Brachii Muscle Architecture.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of two long-term reduced concurrent training frequencies (incorporating power training for the upper and high-intensity interval aerobic training for the lower extremities), in which participants performed one training session every either 7 or 14 days, after 12 weeks of systematic concurrent training on upper extremities' muscle strength, power, and morphology in young females. After a 12-week concurrent resistance and aerobic training period, participants were assigned into three groups and performed either one training session every 7 days (G7), or once every 14 days (G14), or detraining (GD) for 12 weeks, followed by 12 additional weeks of detraining. Performance and muscle mass increased after the initial 12-week training period.
