Objectives: To identify risk factors for tendon healing failure following arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR) in patients with small to medium-sized rotator cuff tears (RCTs).
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 320 patients with RCTs who underwent arthroscopic repair between June 2018 and June 2021. All patients had at least 2 years of postoperative follow-up, with MRI scans at the final assessment.

Ferroptosis plays a crucial role in the secondary pathophysiological damage to brain tissue surrounding hematomas after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). While platelet factor 4 (PF4) is known to promote regeneration following peripheral nerve injury, its role in brain tissue repair after cerebral hemorrhage remains unclear. In this study, Hemin-induced PC12 cells were treated with various inhibitors and assessed for viability, oxidative stress, and ferroptosis using a combination of assays, including CCK-8 (Cell Counting Kit-8), EdU (5-Ethynyl-2’-deoxyuridine), flow cytometry, and immunofluorescence.

Background: Acute lung injury (ALI)/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) has long posed challenges in clinical practice, lacking established preventive and therapeutic approaches. Lianhua Qingke (LHQK), a patented traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has been found to have anti-inflammatory effects for ameliorating ALI/ARDS induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). This study aimed to investigate the effects and potential mechanisms of LHQK on endothelial protection in LPS-induced ALI/ARDS and in LPS-induced human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells (HPMECs) injury
Methods: In the animal experiment, we induced an ALI/ARDS model by intratracheal injection of LPS (5 mg/mL).

Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO), a bioactive metabolite of gut microbes, plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of kidney diseases by activating programmed cell death (PCD) pathways. However, whether trimethylamine (TMA) contributes to chronic kidney injury and which kind of PCD is involved in TMA-induced chronic kidney injury has not been previously evaluated. To observe the effect of TMA, male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into two groups: the Control group and the TMA group.

Methods: Seventy CSU patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to receive treatment with either oral loratadine tablets or a combination of acupuncture and pricking blood therapy (n=35 each). Evaluations were conducted at baseline, at the conclusion of the 4-week treatment period, and at the 4th and 8th weeks post-treatment time points.

Introduction: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the prevalent cardiac arrhythmia and can significantly impair the quality of life (QoL). Although catheter ablation (CA) is an established treatment for AF,post-procedural complications or perceived inadequate control of AF may diminish the QoL for some patients, potentially even to levels lower than pre-procedure. Preliminary findings from our previous pilot trial indicate that acupuncture may positively influence QoL in AF patients post-CA.

Objective: To explore the relationship between adipose tissue deposition and triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, an indicator clinically used to assess insulin resistance (IR), in middle-aged and elderly women using quantitative computed tomography (QCT) and MRI mDIXON-Quant sequence.
Methods: All participants underwent quantitative computed tomography (QCT) and MRI mDIXON-Quant examination and calculated the TyG index based on the fasting blood glucose and triacylglycerol. Bounded by the median TyG index, all participants were divided into low TyG group and high TyG group.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Stroke is a common condition that poses a significant threat to human health. Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BYHWD) is a traditional treatment used for stroke management. However, the exact mechanism by which BYHWD mitigates cerebral ischemia-reperfusion by regulating calcium overload and restoring mitochondrial function is not yet fully understood.

Background: Due to the heterogeneity of Alzheimer's disease (AD), the underlying pathogenic mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. Oligodendrocyte (OL) damage and myelin degeneration are prevalent features of AD pathology. When oligodendrocytes are subjected to amyloid-beta (Aβ) toxicity, this damage compromises the structural integrity of myelin and results in a reduction of myelin-associated proteins.

Sanhua Decoction (SHD) is a classic prescription for the treatment of stroke in the clinic. Based on the combination strategy in vitro and in vivo, the chemical constituents of SHD were characterized by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry, and the metabolites of five effective anthraquinone aglycones (emodin, chrysophanol, rhein, aloe-emodin, and physcion) of rhubarb in SHD were studied. A total of 222 compounds were isolated and identified in vitro, including 50 flavonoids and their glycosides, 41 coumarins, 22 anthraquinones, 22 tannins, 14 phenylpropanoids, 16 alkaloids, 18 organic acids and their esters, 14 lignans, six anthrones, and 19 other compounds.

Introduction: Phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K) is overexpressed in many tumors and is, thus, an ideal target for cancer treatments. Accordingly, there is an urgent need for the development of PI3K inhibitors with high potency and low toxicity.
Methods: In this study, we designed and synthesized a series of 2,4-dimorpholinopyrimidine-5-carbonitrile derivatives, which were evaluated for their PI3K inhibitory potency.

Background: Lateral lymph node dissection (LLND) can decrease local recurrence to lateral compartments in middle-low rectal cancer, but pathological evidence for optimal surgical indications, especially after neoadjuvant (chemo)radiotherapy (nCRT), is lacking. This study aimed to identify the predictive factors and oncological outcomes for different LLN locations associated with pathological metastasis.
Method: In this multicenter study, patients from 19 centers who underwent total mesorectal excision (TME) with LLND for locally advanced mid-/low rectal cancer from January 2012 to December 2021 were included.

Depression is a common mental illness, which is highly related to intestinal motor dysfunction and causes a global burden of disease. Lindera aggregata (LA), a traditional medicinal herb, has been used to treat gastrointestinal disorders; however, the effect of LA on depression remains unclear. Here, we assessed the impact of LA on chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-induced depression in mice and explored the related mechanisms.
