The G20 countries are responsible for around 75% of the world's greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including the use of natural resources. In this regard, the role of globalization in achieving environmental sustainability is a relatively new topic of concern. As a result, the present study considers how globalization and natural resources affect GHG emissions, as well as the roles that renewable energy consumption and urbanization play in the G20 countries between 1990 and 2020.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the prevalence and factors influencing compliance with Canada's 2020 movement guidelines among 7,059 Chinese adults, focusing on physical activity, sedentary behavior, and sleep during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • - Findings show that only 25.54% of participants met all three movement guidelines, with older adults, unmarried individuals, and those near physical activity facilities more likely to comply.
  • - Additionally, higher compliance with movement guidelines is linked to fewer depressive symptoms, indicating a potential mental health benefit from meeting these recommendations.

The role of trimethylation on histone H3 lysine 27 (H3K27me3) in temozolomide resistance of glioma.

Brain Res

January 2025

Sixth Department of Oncology, Hebei General Hospital, Shijiazhuang 050057, Hebei, China. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • Temozolomide (TMZ) is the primary chemotherapy for malignant glioma, but its effectiveness is reduced due to drug resistance, prompting this study to explore the role of histone H3 lysine 27 trimethylation (H3K27me3) in TMZ resistance.
  • The research involved analyzing pathological samples from twenty glioma patients and comparing H3K27me3 levels in sensitive U87 cells and TMZ-resistant U87TR cells, revealing that higher H3K27me3 levels are linked to improved patient survival rates.
  • Additionally, using the demethylase inhibitor GSK-J4 increased H3K27me3 levels in resistant cells, enhancing their sensitivity to TMZ, which suggests a potential

Objective: This study aimed to compare the impacts of different dual-task paradigms on the postural control ability and dynamic stability of the youth during stair descent.

Method: Twenty young adults without regular exercise habits were randomly recruited to perform stair descent tasks with three different paradigms: single-task, cognitive dual-task, and manual dual-task. Kinematic and dynamic data were collected using an 8 Vicon motion analysis system and a Kistler force plate to evaluate postural control ability and dynamic stability during stair descent.

With the Internet of Things (IoT) making significant strides in recent years, the challenges associated with data collection and analysis have emerged as a pressing concern in public security. When employed to tackle extensive criminal networks, the conventional deep learning model encounters issues such as heightened computational complexity, sluggish operational efficiency, and even system failures. Consequently, this research article introduces an intricately devised framework for detecting commercial offenses, employing a modularity-optimized Louvain-Method (LM) algorithm.

Histone demethylases in neurodevelopment and neurodegenerative diseases.

Int J Neurosci

November 2024

Department of Sports Human Sciences, Hebei Social Science Foundation Project Research Group, Hebei Sport University, Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China.

Neurodevelopment can be precisely regulated by epigenetic mechanisms, including DNA methylations, noncoding RNAs, and histone modifications. Histone methylation was a reversible modification, catalyzed by histone methyltransferases and demethylases. So far, dozens of histone lysine demethylases (KDMs) have been discovered, and they (members from KDM1 to KDM7 family) are important for neurodevelopment by regulating cellular processes, such as chromatin structure and gene transcription.

Androgens are closely associated with functions of hippocampal learning, memory, and synaptic plasticity. The zinc transporter ZIP9 (SLC39A9) regulates androgen effects as a binding site distinct from the androgen receptor (AR). However, it is still unclear whether androgens regulate their functions in hippocampus of mice through ZIP9.

Testosterone deficiency may induce behavioural changes in individuals. Oxidative stress resulting from a redox imbalance may be implicated in the initiation and progression of neurobehavioural disorders. However, whether exogenous testosterone intervention in male gonadectomised (GDX) rats ameliorates oxidative stress and plays a neuroprotective role remains unknown.

Article Synopsis
  • Abnormal changes in a specific protein called histone can influence the development of brain tumors known as gliomas, but how useful this is for doctors is still unclear.
  • Researchers studied 73 glioma patients to see how levels of a specific type of histone called H3K36me2 relate to the tumor's severity and patients' survival chances.
  • The study found that higher levels of H3K36me2 are linked to more serious tumors and worse outcomes, suggesting it could help doctors with the diagnosis and treatment of gliomas, but more research is needed.

Background: Hand hygiene, facemask wearing, and physical distancing play a crucial role in the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic. Identifying the key psychosocial determinants of these precautionary behaviors contributes to effective intervention and policymaking for COVID-19 and future pandemics.

Purpose: This study aimed to systematically review and meta-analyze available evidence on psychosocial determinants of the general population's practice of three precautionary behaviors, based on the Risk, Attitudes, Norms, Abilities, and Self-regulation (RANAS) framework.

Psychosocial Mediators of Web-Based Interventions for Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle Among Chinese College Students: Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial.

J Med Internet Res

September 2022

Center for Health and Exercise Science Research, Department of Sport, Physical Education and Health, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong, China (Hong Kong).

Background: Web-based multiple health behavior change (MHBC) interventions have demonstrated effectiveness in promoting physical activity (PA) and fruit and vegetable consumption (FVC) among Chinese college students. However, there is limited research examining their effects on promoting a healthy lifestyle (ie, adhering to both PA and FVC behavioral recommendations) among Chinese college students. In addition, the salient psychosocial mediators of successful MHBC interventions need to be researched.

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the differences in enjoyment and affect in response to four weight control intervention protocols over 12 weeks.

Methods: Sixty overweight young females were randomised into four intervention groups: repeated sprint training (RST, 6-sec all-out sprint interspersed with 9-sec rest), high-intensity interval training (HIIT) with short interval (HIIT, 1-min effort at 120% V̇O) and long interval (HIIT, 4-min effort at 90% V̇O), and moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT, 60% V̇O) by cycling over 12 weeks. The total workload in each training session in HIIT, HIIT, and MICT was confined to 200 kJ, while it was lower in RST with 57 ± 4 kJ.

This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the applicability of social cognitive determinants among the Chinese adolescents and examine whether the predictability of the social cognitive theory (SCT) model on physical activity (PA) differs across gender (boys and girls) and urbanization (urban and suburban). A total of 3,000 Chinese adolescents ranging between the ages of 12-15 years were randomly selected to complete a set of questionnaires. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was applied to investigate the relationships between social cognitive variables and PA in the urbanization and gender subgroups.
