Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the Affiliated Hospital of Hebei Engineering University, Handan, 056002, China.

Objective: To assess the influence of nasal adenoidal hypertrophy (AH) in children on the mandibular growth pattern.

Method: The patients were divided to two groups aged from 3 to 12 years. In the AH group (30 children), the cases who had symptom of NAO for more than two years and A/N > or = 0.

The aim of this study was to investigate the expression levels of the death-associated protein kinase (DAPK) and E-cadherin in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and their correlation with clinical and pathological factors. Immunohistochemistry [streptavidin-peroxidase (SP) method], in situ hybridization, immunoblot assays and reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) were used to detect the expression of DAPK and E-cadherin in the carcinomas and the adjacent normal tissues of 76 cases of esophageal squamous carcinomas. The immunoblot assay indicated that the expression levels of DAPK and E-cadherin were decreased significantly in the ESCC tissue (P<0.

The little known ascaridoid nematode Raphidascaris (Ichthyascaris) lophii (Wu, 1949) is redescribed and illustrated based on newly collected specimens from the five different marine fishes: Lophius litulon (Jordan) (Lophiiformes: Lophiidae), Lophiomus setigerus (Vahl) (Lophiiformes: Lophiidae), Antennarius hispidus (Bloch et Schneider) (Lophiiformes: Antennaridae), Zeus faber Linnaeus (Zeiformes: Zeidae) and Ostichthys japonicus (Cuvier) (Beryciformes: Holocentridae) from the East and South China Sea. This species differs from all congeners in the subgenus Ichthyascaris by the length of the ventricular appendix (0.52-0.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of B lymphocyte activating factor (BAFF) in BXSB lupus nephritis mice to assess the effectiveness of Langchuangping Granule (LG) as a treatment.
  • Researchers conducted experiments on mouse groups receiving different treatments and measured various health indicators, including urine protein and serum factors.
  • Results showed that BAFF levels and other indicators were significantly higher in lupus mice, decreasing after treatment with LG or hormonal therapy, indicating BAFF as a potential target for lupus nephritis management.

Objective: To study whether Langchuangping granule (LG) could exert its renal protection by down-regulating monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) via suppressing nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappaB) signaling pathway in BXSB lupus nephritis (LN) mice. Methods Eighteen male 11-week-old BXSB LN mice were randomly divided into three groups, i.e.

A protease with a molecular mass of 30 kDa and the N-terminal sequence of GLQTNAPWGLARSS, was isolated from fresh fruiting bodies of the wild edible mushroom Termitomyces albuminosus. The purification protocol included ion exchange chromatography on DEAE-cellulose, Q-Sepharose, SP-Sepharose and FPLC-gel filtration on Superdex 75. The protein was unadsorbed on DEAE-cellulose and Q-Sepharose, but adsorbed on SP-Sepharose.

[An objective evaluation of nasal airway obstruction by enlarged adenoids in children].

Lin Chuang Er Bi Yan Hou Tou Jing Wai Ke Za Zhi

December 2010

Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Affiliated Hospital of Hebei Engineering University, Handan 056002, China.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical application value of nasal airway obstruction objectively and quantificationally by acoustic rhinometry (AR) in children with adenoid hypertrophy.

Method: Thirty patients with adenoid hypertrophy were examined with AR and questionnaire at preoperative and eight weeks after surgery. The values of AR were compared with those of 27 normal controls.

Objective: To investigate the effect of Jingui Shenqi Pill (JSP) on the expression of glucocorticoid receptor (GR) in the skin lesion and its clinical effect in treating bullous pemphigoid (BP) patients.

Methods: Thirty BP patients were randomly divided into the treatment group (n=15) treated with JSP plus prednisone and the prednisone group (n=15) with prednisone alone both for 4 weeks. And a normal control group was set up also.

To study the mode of inheritance of familial bronchial asthma and to understand the population genetics laws of bronchial asthma, Families with a family history of bronchial asthma in Handan region were investigated using group research method. The xi2 test of the degree of coincidence between the expected and observed values was analyzed by pedigree analysis and the "Smith" agonic revise method. The incidence rate within the 72 families pedigree with familial bronchial asthma, including 109 core pedigrees, is 0.

Aim: To observe the effect and mechanism of scopolamine on morphine(Mor)-induced mice dependence.

Methods: The Mor-dependent mice model was established by intraperitoneal (ip) administered Mor for seven days. Pain threshold, times of jump and hippocampus intracellular free calcium ion concentration ([Ca2+]i) were determined by the heat plate test, naloxone (Nal)-precipitated jumping response and flow cytometry, respectively.

[Meta-analysis on glutathione S-transferase M1 polymorphisms and the risk of esophageal cancer].

Zhonghua Liu Xing Bing Xue Za Zhi

October 2004

Department of Medical Laboratory Science, Hebei Engineering University, Handan 056002, China.

Objective: To study the association of genetic polymorphism of glutathione S-transferase M1 (GSTM1) and its susceptibility to esophageal cancer.

Methods: Odds ratio was employed to evaluate the risk of esophageal cancer and GSTM1 status. To take into account the possibility of heterogeneity across the studies, a statistical test for heterogeneity across the studies was performed.
