Objective: Abnormal levels and imbalances of T cell subsets are common in recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) patients, but most studies have small sample sizes, and comprehensive evaluations are lacking. Therefore, this meta-analysis aimed to comprehensively investigate T cell subsets and their ratios in RSA patients.

Methods: Four databases (PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases) were searched until 10 January 2024.

Targeting ferroptosis pathway becomes a new solution for cisplatin (DDP) resistance in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), and further research is required to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying ferroptosis and DDP resistance, providing biotargets for LUAD treatment. In this study, DDP-sensitive A549 cells and DDP-resistant A549/DDP cells were treated with DDP, DDP sensitivity was detected through using CCK-8 method and colony formation assay, ferroptosis-related markers were determined through commercial kits, and the molecular regulatory mechanism was analyzed through methylated RNA immunoprecipitation, RNA pull-down, dual luciferase assay, quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blotting assay. Results showed that compared to A549 cells, FENDRR was downregulated in A549/DDP cells, and FENDRR increased iron content, labile iron pool, lipid peroxidation, LDH release and ROS levels, accelerating ferroptosis to promote DDP sensitivity.

Age-related decline in CD8 tissue resident memory T cells compromises antitumor immunity.

Nat Aging

December 2024

CAS Key Laboratory of Tissue Microenvironment and Tumor, Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai, China.

Aging compromises antitumor immunity, but the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we report that aging impairs the generation of CD8 tissue resident memory T (T) cells in nonlymphoid tissues in mice, thus compromising the antitumor activity of aged CD8 T cells, which we also observed in human lung adenocarcinoma. We further identified that the apoptosis regulator BFAR was highly enriched in aged CD8 T cells, in which BFAR suppressed cytokine-induced JAK2 signaling by activating JAK2 deubiquitination, thereby limiting downstream STAT1-mediated T reprogramming.

Cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) is one of the most aggressive and lethal types of skin cancer. Cytoskeletal remodeling is a key factor in the progression of CMM. Previous research has shown that activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3) inhibits metastasis in bladder cancer by regulating actin cytoskeleton remodeling through gelsolin.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer and is highly morphologically and molecularly heterogeneous. Neuron-specific gene family member 1 (NSG1) is a small single-channel transmembrane protein that consists of 185 amino acids and has been reported in a variety of tumours in recent years. However, the role of NSG1 in BC is unclear.

Article Synopsis
  • - A study tested a 12-week WeChat education and care program (WERC) designed to help parents of childhood lymphoma patients by addressing psychological issues like anxiety, depression, and insomnia.
  • - 112 parents were randomly assigned to either the WERC group or a normal care group, with assessments of psychological scores taken at the beginning and after 12 weeks.
  • - Results showed that parents in the WERC group had significant reductions in anxiety, decreased insomnia scores, and improved overall mental health compared to those in the normal care group.

  • - This study investigates how specific metabolites in patients with liver cirrhosis (LC) can help determine the clinical stage and improve treatment targeting, using advanced mass spectrometry technology.
  • - Conducted on 139 patients with LC or acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), researchers analyzed serum samples to find differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs) associated with cirrhosis progression.
  • - Key findings identified six significant DAMs, with certain metabolites peaking at a specific clinical stage before declining, suggesting their potential as biomarkers for assessing the severity of LC and predicting ACLF development.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study evaluates how different durations of trypsin exposure affect the biomechanical properties and healing capacity of decellularized allograft tendons used for grafting.
  • - Results show that while longer trypsin exposure significantly boosts cell adhesion on the tendon surface, it simultaneously reduces the tendon's mechanical strength.
  • - The study suggests that finding the right balance in processing time is crucial to optimize both adhesion effectiveness and mechanical performance of the tendons for better integration with host bone.

Advanced melanoma is an aggressive and dangerous form of skin cancer, and programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) inhibitors are recommended treatment options for patients with advanced melanoma. Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue 1 (MALT1) impairs CD8 T-cell activation to induce immune escape, leading to a reduction in the antitumor effect of PD-1 inhibitors. The present study aimed to assess the prognostic implication of MALT1 in patients with advanced melanoma receiving PD-1 inhibitor monotherapy.
