Investigation of Hemorheological Parameters in Ischemic Stroke Patients.

Background: The aim of this study is to determine whether there are any changes in hemorheological parameters, including whole blood viscosity (WBV), plasma viscosity, erythrocyte aggregation, and erythrocyte deformability, in acute ischemic stroke patients, and to establish their relationship with stroke etiology. The study also aims to observe the changes in these parameters, if any, over time and after treatment, and to assess the correlation between risk factors for ischemic stroke and neuroimaging findings.

Methods: This was a prospective observational study including 70 patients diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke within the first 3 days of the onset of symptoms and 96 healthy controls.

Prcis: The pseudoexfoliation glaucoma group produced higher mean absolute error (MAE) and higher percentages of large-magnitude prediction error, in all investigated intraocular lens formulas. Methods: This prospective and cross-sectional study comprised 75 eyes of children who had Vit-D deficiency (Group 1) and 85 eyes of age- and gender-matched healthy children (Group 2). The tear-film break-up time (TF-BUT) and Schirmer test values, as well as the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) scores, were recorded for the participants in all groups.

Manifest myocardial involvement is somewhat rare in patients with Behcet's disease (BD), although echocardiographic studies suggest that subclinical alterations in left ventricular (LV) contractility is rather common. Methods: Data from ninety-three patients with axSpA were analyzed who completed the IFAB-Tr, Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index (BASFI). Internal consistency, test-retest reliability, convergent validity, floor and ceiling effect, measurement error were examined.

Refractive Outcomes of Uneventful Cataract Surgery in Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome and Pseudoexfoliation Glaucoma.

Purpose: To compare the refractive outcomes after cataract surgery between patients with and without pseudoexfoliation, and to evaluate the risk factors of refractive error.

Methods: Retrospective review of 210 eyes with pseudoexfoliation (study group) and 510 normal eyes (control group) that underwent uneventful phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation. The study group included pseudoexfoliation syndrome and pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PXG) subgroups.

Hepatitis E Infection in Solid Organ Transplant Recipients in Turkey.

Background: Hepatitis E virus is a re-emerging pathogen with an increase in human cases that can lead to chronic infection in immunosuppressed patients. Turkey is located between Asia and Europe, 2 regions with distinct epidemiological and clinical features of hepatitis E virus infection. This multicenter cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the prevalence of hepatitis E virus infection in liver and kidney transplant recipients in Turkey and to determine the role of possible transmission factors.
