Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how different patterns of diabetic macular edema (DME) respond to intravitreal injection therapies, particularly ranibizumab and aflibercept, over a 12-month period.
  • Participants were categorized into four groups based on their OCT features, and their visual acuity and central macular thickness were measured at baseline and after 3, 6, and 12 months.
  • Results showed no significant differences in visual acuity improvement or the number of injections needed among the groups, but group 4 had the highest baseline central macular thickness and the most significant reduction in thickness by month 12.

Background: Radiotherapy is a widely used treatment method in oncology, applied by delivering high-energy particles or waves to the tumor tissue. Although tumor cells are targeted with radiotherapy, it can cause acute or long-term damage to healthy tissues. Therefore, the preservation of healthy tissues has been an important subject of various scientific researches.

Background: Diabetes foot infection is a very important public health problem that causes serious health problems, mortality, and high health expenditures, and is one of the most important complications of diabetes mellitus. There are concerns that approaches such as limited personal visits to doctors, avoidance of hospitals, and restrictions on nonemergency surgical procedures during the coronavirus disease of 2019 pandemic pose a threat to those with diabetic foot problems, including diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs), ischemia, and infection, resulting in increased limb loss and mortality.

Methods: This multicenter, retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted in 14 tertiary care hospitals from various regions of Turkey.

Background: The diagnostic accuracy of suspicious lesions that are classified as PI-RADS 3 in multiparametric prostate magnetic-resonance imaging (mpMRI) is controversial. This study aims to assess the predictive capacity of hematological inflammatory markers such as neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV), and systemic immune-response index (SIRI) in detecting prostate cancer in PI-RADS 3 lesions.

Methods: 276 patients who underwent mpMRI and subsequent prostate biopsy after PI-RADS 3 lesion detection were included in the study.

We investigated the role of E-cadherin and Ber-EP4 in tubal pregnancy by comparing their expressions in epithelial and trophoblastic cells both in ectopic tubal and intrauterine pregnancies. The Formalin-fixed paraffin embedded blocks of 17 intrauterine and 17 tubal pregnancies were immunohistochemically stained with E-cadherin and Ber-EP4. E-cadherin was expressed in the epithelium, villous and extravillous trophoblast in tubal and intrauterine pregnancies but not in the syncytiotrophoblast.

Moyamoya angiopathy is a rare cerebrovascular condition characterized by insufficient cerebral blood flow resulting from arterial vessel narrowing or occlusion, potentially leading to cerebral ischemia due to inadequate oxygen and nutrient supply to the brain tissue. The development of collateral vessels in stenotic regions, inherently fragile and prone to rupture, may further precipitate intracerebral hemorrhage. Alongside focal neurological symptoms, the common clinical presentations of Moyamoya angiopathy encompass headaches, dizziness, cognitive impairments, seizures, and involuntary movements.

(1) We aimed to identify the possible relationship between various diseases of the upper digestive system and colon polyps by analyzing patients with gastric polyps and evaluating the cancers and diseases accompanying the polyps. (2) Each patient's age; gender; polyp type and size; presence of (), atrophic gastritis, and intestinal metaplasia; status of whether cancer developed during follow-up; status of whether a colonoscopy was performed or not; and colon pathologies detected during colonoscopy were analyzed retrospectively using hospital records. (3) Between the study dates, 19,214 esophagogastroduodenoscopies were performed in the endoscopy unit of our hospital.

Background: The goals of neuroimaging in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) are the exclusion of mimickers and effective management of disease. In recent studies, several imaging markers have been identified as potential predictors of IIH.

Purpose: To investigate the predictive roles of novel radiological markers as the Meckel's cave area, alongside classical radiologic markers in identifying IIH such as the empty sella.

Background: The neurobiological basis of delusional disorder is less explored through neuroimaging techniques than in other psychotic disorders. This study aims to provide information about the neural origins of delusional disorder (DD) by examining the neuroanatomical features of some basal nuclei with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) texture analysis.

Materials And Methods: Twenty DD patients and 20 healthy individuals were included in the study.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation (AGVI) in neovascular glaucoma (NVG) due to proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) with or without a pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) history and to analyze the factors affecting surgical failure.

Methods: Patients with NVG secondary to PDR undergoing AGVI at a single center were reviewed retrospectively. The surgical failure rates and post-operative complications were compared between eyes with (PPV-AGVI group) and without previous PPV (AGVI group).

Purpose: To evaluate the reflectivities of the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), ellipsoid zone (EZ), and external limiting membrane (ELM) in the central fovea, perifoveal, and parafoveal regions with Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and the change in choroid vascular index (CVI) in patients using hydroxychloroquine (HCQ).

Methods: Sixty-one patients underwent HCQ treatment; age and sex-matched 44 control group subjects were included in the study. The RPE, EZ, and ELM reflectivities were measured with the ImageJ program at 5 points, and CVI was calculated.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate whether there is a difference in lipid levels between prediabetic individuals with one-hour post-Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) plasma glucose (PG) values > 155 mg/dl and those with one-hour PG values ≤ 155 mg/dl.

Methods: This retrospective cross sectional study was initiated on August 2020 and concluded on June 2021, and conducted with 229 prediabetic patients who presented to the Diabetes Clinic of the Research Hospital. A correlation analysis was performed to investigate the relationship between OGTT values and serum lipid levels.

Introduction: Ocrelizumab is a CD20-targeting monoclonal antibody used for treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). Serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) neurofilament light (NFL) chain levels are reduced in MS patients under ocrelizumab treatment indicating a preventive action against neuro-axonal degeneration. Our aim, in this preliminary study, was to explore the impact of ocrelizumab treatment on synaptic integrity through assessment of neurogranin levels.
