Effects of Rosmarinus officinalis extract on wound healing, colon anastomosis, and postoperative adhesion in colon anastomosis rats.

Background: Intraabdominal adhesions increase the incidence and length of surgical complications. Many anti-adhesive agents have been used for this purpose, but no definitive solution has yet been found. Studies on the prevention and reduction of anastomotic leakage, therefore, remain up to date.

Practices and attitudes of adult psychiatrists regarding methamphetamine-associated psychotic disorder: an internet based survey conducted in Turkey.

Background: Many variables may affect approaches of psychiatrists to methamphetamine-associated psychotic disorder (MAP) treatment. This study was aimed to reach adult psychiatrists actively practicing in Turkey through an internet-based survey and to determine their practices and attitudes to MAP treatment.

Methods: In this internet-based study, participants were divided into three groups based on their answers: Those who do not follow-up any MAP patient were group 1 (n = 78), partially involved in the treatment process of at least one patient diagnosed with MAP were group 2 (n = 128), completely involved in the treatment process of at least one patient diagnosed with MAP were group 3 (n = 202).

Background: The aim of this study is to examine the association between adding-on (AO) and disc degeneration(DD) of distal unfused levels in Lenke 3 C, 5 C, 6 C adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients with a follow-up of at least two years by comparing preoperative and postoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Methods: 47 AIS patients (32 females and 15 males) with structural thoracolumbar/lumbar (TL/L) curves treated with long segment thoracolumbar fusion were retrospectively evaluated. Patients were divided into two groups according to the occurrence of the AO (AO and Non-AO groups).

Examination of immunohistochemical of the effects of flattened and unflattened radiotherapy beams in nude mice breast cancer xenografts.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the radiobiological effects underlying the inhibition of breast cancer (BCa) following radiotherapy in nude mice models, and to evaluate the impact of changes in immunohistochemical parameters induced by FF and FFF beams.

Materials And Methods: The study included thirty-six adult nude mouse models, which were randomly assigned to five groups: control (G1), breast cancer (BCa) (G2), FF-400 MU/min (G3), FFF-1100 MU/min (G4), and FFF-1800 MU/min (G5). The control group received neither radiation nor treatment, while the BCa group had a cancer model without radiation.

[Multicentric Screening of Local Antibiotic Resistance in Uncomplicated Urinary System Infections: 1850 Patients from 37 Centers].

This study was aimed to identify the most frequently observed pathogens in uncomplicated urinary tract infections from outpatient urinary isolates obtained across seven different geographical regions in Türkiye and to determine whether the antibiotic resistance rates of these pathogens differ significantly between these regions. The study included patients aged 18 to 65 years who were diagnosed with uncomplicated urinary tract infections and had positive urine cultures from March 2021 to August 2022, across 37 different centers in Türkiye. The participating centers were selected based on their use of the disk diffusion method, in line with the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) guidelines, to ensure standardization of urine culture data.

Objective: Multiple sclerosis (MS) may present with predominant involvement of the spinal cord and optic nerve (MS/w-SCON) and mimic other autoimmune inflammatory demyelinating disorders (AIDD) such as neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), and relapsing inflammatory optic neuritis (RION). Thus, biomarkers are required for effective differential diagnosis of AIDD.

Methods: Patients with MS/w-SCON (n = 20), MS without involvement of SCON (MS/wo-SCON) (n = 22), NMOSD (n = 16), RION (n = 15) and healthy individuals (n = 21) were included.

The ceftazidime-avibactam (CZA)/ aztreonam (ATM) combination represents a new therapeutic approach in MBL-positive isolates. Our study aims to determine distribution of carbapenemase genes in CRKP isolates and to investigate the in vitro synergistic effect of the CZA/ATM combination.

The Effect of Using Perioperative Platelet-Rich Plasma on Wound Healing Rate and Prevention of Salivary Fistula Formation in Patients Undergoing Partial Parotidectomy.

Objectives: This study aims to examine the effects of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which increases new connective tissue synthesis and revascularisation, on healing in parotid surgery wounds, prevention of salivary fistula formation, drain removal time and hospitalisation in the postoperative period.

Materials And Methods: Fifty-four patients who had an operation on partial parotidectomy were randomised, and then two groups were created. PRP was obtained by centrifuging the blood taken from the patients in the study group at the end of the surgery.

 This study aimed to present the results of an alternative technique for treating ulnar impaction syndrome, the "reverse wafer procedure," and assess the mid-term clinical outcomes of patients treated with this technique.  A retrospective evaluation was conducted on 14 patients who underwent the reverse wafer procedure for ulnar impaction syndrome between 2013 and 2020. The inclusion criteria for the study were persistent ulnar-sided wrist pain, even after a minimum of 3 months of nonoperative treatment, the presence of a chondral lesion on the lunate, and an intact triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) based on arthroscopic evaluation.

Purpose: In our study, we aimed to compare the performance of the BacT/Alert 3D (bioMerieux, France) system, which is currently used in our laboratory, and the Autobio BC (Autobio, China) system, which was newly introduced in our country, using standard and clinical isolates.

Impact of Pseudomonas aeruginosa carriage on intensive care unit-acquired pneumonia: a European multicentre prospective cohort study.

Objectives: Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) is a common causative pathogen of pneumonia acquired in the intensive care unit (ICU). The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of PA ICU pneumonia (PAIP) and to quantify its independent association with PA colonization at different body sites.

Methods: Adult patients on mechanical ventilation at ICU admission were prospectively enrolled across 30 European ICUs.

With a 5-year survival of ˂ 10%, pancreatic cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths. Given the role of the distribution of tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TILs) subtypes in the tumor and its microenvironment in predicting prognosis, the development of new targeted therapies based on T-cell adaptive response has gained considerable attention. This study aimed to examine the peritumoral spread of TILs and its relationship with other prognostic parameters and survival.

Evaluation of meibomian gland morphology in keratoconus patients wearing scleral contact lenses.

Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the morphological changes in meibomian glands in keratoconus patients using scleral contact lenses and compare them with keratoconus and healthy controls.

Methods: The study included 34 eyes of 20 patients who were wearing scleral contact lenses due to keratoconus, as well as 31 age- and sex-matched keratoconus controls and 31 healthy controls. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy, non-invasive tear film break-up time assessment, Schirmer I test, meibography, and corneal staining with fluorescein were performed.

The Effect of Rosuvastatin on Facial Nerve Regeneration After Facial Nerve Injury: An Experimental Animal Study.

Objectives: Rosuvastatin is an antihyperlipidemic statin group pharmacological agent with antioxidant, neuroprotective, and anti-inflammatory effects. In this study, we aimed to examine the functional, electrophysiological, and histopathological effects of rosuvastatin or in combination with corticosteroids on facial nerve regeneration in rats with traumatic peripheral facial paralysis (PFP).

Methods: PFP was induced in 28 female Sprague Dawley rats that we divided into 4 groups: group 1, control group; group 2, methylprednisolone group; group 3, rosuvastatin group; group 4, rosuvastatin and methylprednisolone group.
