The methodological approach involved a review of existing literature on PFA's relevance, adaptation, and effectiveness in disaster response settings.

Findings: In disaster response, PFA is a recognized, evidence-informed psychosocial support activity internationally, yet measuring its effectiveness in real-time disasters remains challenging.

Adolescent Impulsivity and Emotion Dysregulation: The Moderating Role of Parental Socialization of Negative Emotions.

This study investigated whether parental socialization of negative emotions moderated the relationship between adolescents' low executive function or high impulsivity and their current or subsequent emotion dysregulation. Emotion dysregulation, characterized by difficulties in managing the intensity and duration of emotions, is a transdiagnostic factor linked to adverse outcomes. Youth with poor executive functioning and/or high impulsivity are at risk for emotion dysregulation; however, the role of parenting in influencing this trajectory warrants exploration.

Effectiveness of non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation vs heart rate variability biofeedback interventions for chronic pain conditions: A systematic review.

Objectives: Autonomic regulation has been identified as a potential regulator of pain via vagal nerve mediation, assessed through heart rate variability (HRV). Non-invasive vagal nerve stimulation (nVNS) and heart rate variability biofeedback (HRVB) have been proposed to modulate pain. A limited number of studies compare nVNS and HRVB in persons with chronic pain conditions.

Association between axial elongation and corneal topography in children undergoing orthokeratology with different back optic zone diameters.

Purpose: To explore the associations between myopia defocus dosage (MDD), aberration coefficients (primary spherical aberration and coma), and axial elongation in children undergoing orthokeratology (ortho-k) with back optic zone diameters (BOZD) of 5 mm and 6 mm over 2 years.

Methods: Data from 80 participants from two ortho-k studies were analyzed: 22 and 58 children wore lenses with 5-mm and 6-mm BOZD, respectively. Four MDD metrics were calculated from corneal topography data over a 5-mm pupil for the 1-month and 24-month visits: the circumferential, flat, steep, and volumetric MDD.

Here, we show that pharmacological and genetic silencing of TRPM7 leads to diminished human CD4 T-cell activation and proliferation following TCR mediated stimulation.

Examining Personal Identity and the Influence of an Occupation-Based Prevocational Program Following Traumatic Brain Injury: A Multiple Case Study.

Individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI) experience and live with physiological, psychological, and social impacts of their injury throughout their lives, including changes in one's sense of personal identity. This qualitative multiple-case study examines the lived experiences of four individuals living with brain injuries and how participation in occupation-based community programming interacts with post-injury sense of self. Study data reveal a dynamic relationship between occupational participation and personal identity that suggests ongoing post-acute occupational therapy services can support recovery including aspects of identity reformation.

Identifying key aspects of excellence in residency education and understanding its value in developing adaptive expertise will help devise strategies to enhance program, resident, and patient outcomes.

This Perspective provides a crucial set of actions with corresponding recommendations aimed at propelling the physical therapy profession toward excellence in residency education. The conceptual model includes elements of excellence in the delivery and outcomes of physical therapist residency education and the domain of value experienced by stakeholders impacted by physical therapist residency education. Linked to the conceptual model, the 15 actions, and 28 recommendations draw from (1) the Physical Therapist Residency Excellence and Value (PT-REV) study, (2) the Physical Therapist Education for the 21st Century (PTE-21) study, and (3) research in the learning sciences.

Implementing Lifestyle Medicine Competencies in Didactic and Clinical Settings for Allied Health Professionals: A Call to Action.

In this article, we discuss and reflect on the essential components of our concurrent session presentation at the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) annual conference LM2023, "Implementing Lifestyle Medicine Competencies in Didactic and Clinical Settings for Allied Health Professionals." We illustrate the necessity of interdisciplinary lifestyle medicine approaches through a conscious fusion of analysis and storytelling. This review concludes with a call to action empowering the medical community to embrace interdisciplinary lifestyle medicine approaches in effort to increase access to equitable healthcare.
