The aim of the present study was to investigate the location of the fastest IM racecourses for age group IM triathletes. Climate change is one of the largest threats to grassland plant species, which can be modified by land management. Although climate change and land management are expected to separately and interactively influence plant demography, this has been rarely considered in climate change experiments. We used a large-scale experiment in central Germany to quantify the effects of grassland management, climate change, and their joint effect on the demography and population growth rate of 11 plant species all native to this temperate grassland ecosystem.

Ligia exotica Roux, 1828 was originally described based on specimens collected on a ship that came from Cayenne in French Guiana, and has been known to be widely distributed in the world. In Japan this species is the most common in Ligia, and two forms of L. exotica inhabit Osaka Bay, central Japan.

During surveys worldwide, we collected adult and larval specimens of Pseudopolydora Czerniavsky, 1881 similar to P. achaeta Radashevsky & Hsieh, 2000 and P. rosebelae Radashevsky & Migotto, 2009 far from their type localities in Taiwan and Brazil, respectively.

A number of undescribed species of the bethylid genera Goniozus and Sierola have been discovered in Australia and North America with character states that had previously been thought to be exclusive to one or the other, prompting a re-examination of the generic boundaries. Analysis of a large dataset of cytochrome oxidase I mtDNA sequences and key morphological characters found that Goniozus is well defined by two insertion-deletion events in COI. The traditional morphological characters can also be used to separate the genera, but variation within the regional fauna must be taken into account.

This work presents the first record of the family Mythicomyiidae from Peru, based on the descriptions of five new species of Mythicomyia Coquillett, 1893: Mythicomyia huk sp. nov. from Amazonas, Mythicomyia iskay sp.

Euchaetomera plebeja Hansen, 1912 (Mysida; Mysidae) in western Mexico.

The opossum shrimp Euchaetomera plebeja Hansen, 1912 (Mysida; Mysidae) is one of the nine described species currently known in this genus. Until now, it has been considered a rare species, only partly illustrated, known from western Mexico, western Colombia, Peru, and Chile (one specimen in each locality), with a possible additional record off Hawaii. In a recent study, it was recorded abundantly in western Mexico where it was collected in 20 localities, all in the Gulf of California.

Background: The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2021 provides a comprehensive assessment of health and risk factor trends at global, regional, national, and subnational levels. This study aims to examine the burden of diseases, injuries, and risk factors in the USA and highlight the disparities in health outcomes across different states.

Methods: GBD 2021 analysed trends in mortality, morbidity, and disability for 371 diseases and injuries and 88 risk factors in the USA between 1990 and 2021.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a brief counseling intervention with demonstrated efficacy in ameliorating unhealthy habits across populations, behaviors, and settings. Although prior research underscores its benefit with adolescents, a comprehensive examination of its application in school settings remains unexplored. Therefore, the primary aim of the present meta-analysis was to calculate the average estimated effect of all studies examining the use of MI with students in school settings.

DNA-methylation age and accelerated epigenetic aging in blood as a tumor marker for predicting breast cancer susceptibility.

Background: DNA methylation (DNAm)-based marker of aging, referred to as 'epigenetic age' or 'DNAm age' is a highly accurate multi-tissue biomarker for aging, associated with age-related disease risk, including cancer. Breast cancer (BC), an age-associated disease, is associated with older DNAm age and epigenetic age acceleration (age accel) at tissue levels. But this raises a question on the predictability of DNAm age/age accel in BC development, emphasizing the importance of studying DNAm age in pre-diagnostic peripheral blood (PB) in BC etiology and prevention.

Climate change has increased the frequency and severity of natural disasters, including the 2023 wildfires in Maui, Hawai'i. The no-notice disaster affected hospital operations at the sole acute care hospital that serves the community, requiring immediate interventions and reallocation of resources. The purpose of this article is to explore the role that critical care nurses play in responding to wildfires.
