Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) could be conduits of polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contaminants in the environment. This study investigated the fate of 40 PFAS compounds across nine municipal WWTPs with varying treatment capacity and processes. High concentrations of perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs) and perfluoroalkyl sulfonic acids (PFSAs) were detected in wastewater, with the ratio of their total concentrations (∑PFCAs/∑PFSAs) always greater than one.

The lesson from current modelling is clear: increasing environmental variability increases population abundance variability. This clinical practice guideline from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) provides an evidence-based approach for strategies to diagnose and manage GERD. This document was developed using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation framework and serves as an update to the 2014 ASGE guideline on the role of endoscopy in the management of GERD. This updated guideline addresses the indications for endoscopy in patients with GERD as well as in the emerging population of patients who develop GERD after sleeve gastrectomy or peroral endoscopic myotomy.

Southern Shaanxi is one of China's high-quality congou black tea production areas. However, the differences in geography, cultivation, and management techniques and production processes lead to uneven qualities of southern Shaanxi congou black tea in different production areas. This study used sensory analysis combined with gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS) to determine southern Shaanxi congou black teas' geographical origin and volatile fingerprints to prevent economic losses caused by fraudulent labeling.

Deciphering Oxidation-Dominated Abnormal Rheology to Design Performance-Stable Liquid-Metal-Based Nanofluids for Transmission Applications.

With global decarbonization urgency for sustainability, enhancing the service stability of liquid metals (LMs) and reducing their oxidation-induced failures are crucial. The oxidation of LMs can adversely affect the fluidity required for hydraulic transmission, thermal management, and other transport scenarios. Given the importance, we have fabricated an LM-based SiC/graphene-Mo nanofluid (LMNF) and compared the rheological behavior to pure LM under an oxidative atmospheric environment.

Considerations for Measuring Caregiver Talk in Interactions With Infants at Elevated and Population-Level Likelihood for Autism: Deriving Stable Estimates.

Purpose: This study aims to help researchers design observational measurement systems that yield sufficiently stable scores for estimating caregiver talk among caregivers of infant siblings of autistic and non-autistic children. Stable estimates minimize error introduced by facets of the measurement system, such as variability between coders or measurement sessions.

Method: Analyses of variance were used to partition error variance between coder and session and to derive coefficients.

Patterned solid surfaces with wettability contrast can enhance liquid transport for applications such as electronics thermal management, self-cleaning, and anti-icing. However, prior work has not explored easy and scalable blade-cut masking to impart topography patterned wettability contrast on aluminum (Al), even though Al surfaces are widely used for thermal applications. Here, we demonstrate mask-enabled topography contrast patterning and quantify the resulting accuracy of the topographic pattern resolution, spatial variations in surface roughness, wettability, drop size distribution during dropwise condensation, and thermal emissivity of patterned Al surfaces.

Associations were examined between sociodemographic characteristics of a US online survey sample of caregiver/adolescent dyads ( = 533) and food intake during independent eating occasions. Caregivers reported sociodemographic characteristics for dyads. Adolescents reported daily intake frequency of sugar-sweetened beverages, junk foods, sugary foods, fast food, and fruits and vegetables during independent eating occasions.
