Social media is increasingly used as a platform for patients to explore health care information. Our objective was to study the content on TikTok in order to gain insight into the perspectives shared by the public on vasectomy. A search was performed using the hashtag ´#vasectomy´ on 12.

A delayed diagnosis of iatrogenic ureteral injury results in increased morbidity.

This study aimed to register and analyse outcomes after iatrogenic ureteral injuries (IUI) with special emphasis on potential consequences of a delayed diagnosis, and further to analyse if the incidence of IUI has changed during the study period. 108 patients treated for an IUI during 2001-2021 were included. Injuries due to endourological procedures, planned tumour resection and traumatic injuries were excluded.

Background: Parental allergic diseases and smoking influence respiratory disease in the offspring but it is not known whether they influence fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) in the offspring. We investigated whether parental allergic diseases, parental smoking and FeNO levels in parents were associated with FeNO levels in their offspring.

Methods: We studied 609 offspring aged 16-47 years from the Respiratory Health in Northern Europe, Spain and Australia generation (RHINESSA) study with parental information from the Respiratory Health in Northern Europe (RHINE) III study and the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (ECRHS) III.

Outcomes and considerations for retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) in the setting of multiple and large renal stones (>15 mm) in children: Findings from multicentre and real-world setting.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of retrograde intra renal surgery (RIRS) in the setting of large or multiple stones in children (<18 years).

Materials And Methods: Retrospective analysis was performed of paediatric RIRS cases at nine centres worldwide over a 6-year period. Patients were divided into two groups: Group 1 had a single stone <15 mm.

Comparing in vitro cytotoxic drug sensitivity in colon and pancreatic cancer using 2D and 3D cell models: Contrasting viability and growth inhibition in clinically relevant dose and repeated drug cycles.

Background: In vitro drug screening that is more translatable to the in vivo tumor environment can reduce both time and cost of cancer drug development. Here we address some of the shortcomings in screening and show how treatment with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in 2D and 3D culture models of colorectal cancer (CRC) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) give different responses regarding growth inhibition.

Methods: The sensitivity of the cell lines at clinically relevant 5-FU concentrations was monitored over 4 days of treatment in both 2D and 3D cultures for CRC (SW948 and HCT116) and PDAC (Panc-1 and MIA-Pa-Ca-2) cell lines.

Associations between enteral nutrition and outcomes in the SUP-ICU trial: Results of exploratory post hoc analyses.

Background: Enteral nutrition may affect risks of gastrointestinal bleeding, pneumonia and mortality in critically ill patients and may also modify the effects of pharmacological stress ulcer prophylaxis. We undertook post hoc analyses of the stress ulcer prophylaxis in the intensive care unit trial to assess for any associations and interactions between enteral nutrition and pantoprazole.

Methods: Extended Cox models with time-varying co-variates and competing events were used to assess potential associations, adjusted for baseline severity of illness.

Background: Part 1 of the RUBY trial (NCT03981796) evaluated dostarlimab plus carboplatin-paclitaxel compared with placebo plus carboplatin-paclitaxel in patients with primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC). At the first interim analysis, the trial met one of its dual primary endpoints with statistically significant progression-free survival benefits in the mismatch repair-deficient/microsatellite instability-high (dMMR/MSI-H) and overall populations. Hemodynamic Stroke: Emerging Concepts, Risk Estimation, and Treatment.

Ischemic stroke can arise from the sudden occlusion of a brain-feeding artery by a clot (embolic), or local thrombosis. Hemodynamic stroke occurs when blood flow does not sufficiently meet the metabolic demand of a brain region at a certain time. This discrepancy between demand and supply can occur with cerebropetal arterial occlusion or high-grade stenosis but also arises with systemic conditions reducing blood pressure.

High-throughput, low-cost quantification of 11 therapeutic antibodies using caprylic acid precipitation and LC-MS/MS.

Background: Therapeutic drug monitoring of treatment with therapeutic antibodies is hampered by the application of a wide range of different methods in the quantification of serum levels. LC-MS based methods could significantly improve comparability of results from different laboratories, but such methods are often considered complicated and costly. We developed a method for LC-MS/MS based quantification of 11 therapeutic antibodies concomitantly measured in a single run, with emphasis on simplicity in sample preparation and low cost.

Synthesis and stability of the [Ti]Ti-DOTA complex: en route towards aza-macrocyclic Ti-based radiopharmaceuticals.

We report the use of DOTA as a chelator for titanium. The resulting complex is fully characterised and stability studies reveal its high kinetic inertness against transmetallation and transchelation. The radiolabeling of DOTA with Ti, a guaiacol-based liquid-liquid extraction method, leads to a high radiochemical conversion up to 98%.

Monogenic diabetes is a gateway to precision medicine through molecular mechanistic insight. Hepatocyte nuclear factor 1A (HNF-1A) and HNF-4A are transcription factors that engage in crossregulatory gene transcription networks to maintain glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in pancreatic β cells. Variants in the HNF1A and HNF4A genes are associated with maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY).

Na MRI: inter-reader reproducibility of normal fibroglandular sodium concentration measurements at 3 T.

Background: To study the reproducibility of Na magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) measurements from breast tissue in healthy volunteers.

Methods: Using a dual-tuned bilateral Na/H breast coil at 3-T MRI, high-resolution Na MRI three-dimensional cones sequences were used to quantify total sodium concentration (TSC) and fluid-attenuated sodium concentration (FASC). B-corrected TSC and FASC maps were created.

Interim F-FDG-PET based response-adaptive dose escalation of proton therapy for head and neck cancer: a treatment planning feasibility study.

Background: Image-driven dose escalation to tumor subvolumes has been proposed to improve treatment outcome in head and neck cancer (HNC). We used F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) acquired at baseline and into treatment (interim) to identify biologic target volumes (BTVs). We assessed the feasibility of interim dose escalation to the BTV with proton therapy by simulating the effects to organs at risk (OARs).

Associations between obesity, a composite risk score for probable long COVID, and sleep problems in SARS-CoV-2 vaccinated individuals.

Background: Preliminary data suggests that obesity might hasten the decline in mRNA vaccine-induced immunity against SARS-CoV-2. However, whether this renders individuals with obesity more susceptible to long COVID symptoms post-vaccination remains uncertain. Given sleep's critical role in immunity, exploring the associations between obesity, probable long COVID symptoms, and sleep disturbances is essential.

ACL Reconstruction Using Quadrupled Semitendinosus Versus Double-Stranded Semitendinosus and Gracilis Autograft: 2-Year Results From a Prospective Randomized Controlled Study.

Background: A disadvantage of using hamstring tendon autograft consisting of the semitendinosus and gracilis tendons for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is pain from tendon harvesting and persistent hamstring weakness. In the tendon-sparing all-inside technique, a quadrupled semitendinosus graft and adjustable-loop cortical fixation are suggested to give less postoperative flexion deficits while displaying overall similar clinical results to the traditional hamstring technique. However, there are a limited number of high-quality studies comparing these techniques with inconsistent results.

Epidemiology and natural history of POLG disease in Norway: a nationwide cohort study.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence and natural history of POLG disease in the Norwegian population.

Methods: A national, population-based, retrospective study using demographic, clinical, and genetic data of patients with genetically confirmed POLG disease. The patients were diagnosed between 2002 and 2022, and were included into the Norwegian POLG Patient Registry.

Impact of physiotherapy access on health-related quality of life following hip fracture: an observational study on 30 752 hip fractures from the Norwegian Hip Fracture Register 2014-2018.

Objectives: The main objective of this study was to investigate the characteristics of patients receiving private community physiotherapy (PT) the first year after a hip fracture. Second, to determine whether utilisation of PT could improve health-related quality of life (HRQoL).

Methods: In an observational cohort study, 30 752 hip fractures from the Norwegian Hip Fracture Register were linked with data from Statistics Norway and the Norwegian Control and Payment of Health Reimbursements Database.

Introduction: Many patient safety practices are only partly established in routine clinical care, despite extensive quality improvement efforts. Implementation science can offer insights into how patient safety practices can be successfully adopted.

Objective: The objective was to examine the literature on implementation of three internationally used safety practices: medication reconciliation, antibiotic stewardship programmes and rapid response systems.
