Obesity is a growing pandemic that increases the risk for cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and particularly in women also the risk of cancer and neurodegenerative disorders such as dementia and multiple sclerosis. Preclinical studies on obesity focus on male mice as they gain bodyweight faster and show a clear pro-inflammatory phenotype. Here, using male and female mice, we induced obesity by feeding a high fat diet (HFD), and compared adipose tissue (AT) inflammation at the same adiposity stage (% AT/bodyweight) between both sexes.

Negative pressure wound therapy is used often in the management of surgical incisions, chronic wounds and subacute lesions, and there are numerous publications discussing its clinical application and outcomes. However, whilst clinical use and associated literature have expanded since these systems became commercially available in the 90s, important research and discussion around the mode of action have waned, leading to a deficit in the understanding of how this important therapy influences healing. Further, much research and many publications are predominantly reflective, discussing early theorem, some of which have been proven incorrect, or at least not fully resolved leading to misunderstandings as to how the therapy works, thus potentially denying the clinician the opportunity to optimise use towards improved clinical and economic outcomes.

Tunable redox-sensitive polymeric-lipid hybrid nanocarriers (RS-PLHNCs) were fabricated using homogenization and nanoprecipitation methods. These nanocarriers were composed of novel redox-cholesterol with disulfide linkages and synthesized by conjugating cholesterol with dithiodipropionic acid esterification. Background: In STREAM-1 (Strategic Reperfusion Early After Myocardial Infarction), excess intracranial hemorrhage occurred in patients aged ≥75 years receiving full-dose tenecteplase as part of a pharmaco-invasive strategy, whereas no further intracranial hemorrhage occurred after halving the tenecteplase dose. In STREAM-2 (Second Strategic Reperfusion Early After Myocardial Infarction), half-dose tenecteplase was an effective and safe pharmaco-invasive strategy in older patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction presenting within <3 hours, compared with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We prespecified evaluating the efficacy and safety of a half-dose versus full-dose pharmaco-invasive strategy and compared the half-dose pharmaco-invasive strategy to primary PCI in patients aged ≥75 years.
