A central position in Moroccan ethnobotany is held by the genus, serving as a vital reference for aromatic and medicinal plants within the Lamiaceae family. The profound importance of species in the daily lives of Moroccans is recognized, and the primary objective of this study is to assess the impact of rising temperatures and decreasing precipitation on the primary and secondary metabolites of under the following climatic conditions: sample 1, cultivated under standard temperature and precipitation conditions during the first year; sample 2, subjected to an 8 °C temperature increase and a 25% reduction in water supply; and sample 3, exposed to a 12 °C temperature rise and a 50% decrease in water availability. Phytochemical screening results reveal a progressive decline in primary metabolites from sample 1 to sample 3 due to the increase in temperature and decrease in precipitation.

A novel and highly sensitive colorimetric DNA sensor for determination of miRNA-155 at attomolar levelsis presented that combines the peroxidase-like activity of copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) with the hybridization chain reaction (HCR) . The utilization of CuNPs offers advantages such as strong interaction with double-stranded DNA, excellent molecular recognition, and mimic catalytic activity. Herein, a capture probe DNA (P) was immobilized on carboxylated magnetic beads (MBs), allowing for amplified immobilization due to the 3D surface.

Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is the most common childhood cancer, with an 80% frequency in children between 1 and 10 years old. The outcome and prognosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children depends on various factors, such as age, clinical and biological features, and cytogenetic factors.
Case Presentation: We report the case of a pediatric patient, a 4-year-old Moroccan female who was referred to the Hematology and Oncology Department of 20 August 1953 Hospital in Casablanca and diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia associated with a rare genetic chromosomal abnormality.

Background: The nonrandom recurrence of chromosomal abnormalities in multiple myeloma (MM) raises the possibility that they play a role in the pathophysiology and development of the disease. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) can identify a high frequency of certain abnormalities without the need for the proliferative and infiltrative index of malignant plasma cells required for conventional cytogenetic analysis. In this study, we describe the association between clinico-biological characteristics and chromosomal abnormalities in 30 Moroccan patients.

This study introduces the utilization of self-powered microbial fuel cell (MFC)-based biosensors for the detection of biotoxicity in wastewater. Current MFC-based biosensors lack specificity in distinguishing between different pollutants. To address this limitation, a novel approach is introduced, capitalizing on the adaptive capabilities of anodic biofilms.

Industrialized and developing nations face severe public health problems related to childhood obesity. Previous studies revealed that the melanocortin-4 receptor gene (MC4R) is the most prevalent monogenic cause of severe early obesity. Due to its influence on food intake and energy expenditure via neuronal melanocortin-4 receptor pathways, MC4R is recognized as a regulator of energy homeostasis.

Background: The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants has significantly increased the number of cases of COVID-19 among vaccinated individuals, raising concerns about the effectiveness of current vaccines. The aim of this study was to analyze the SARS-CoV-2 infection risks after primary vaccination with BNT162b2, BBIBP-CorV, or ChAdOx1-nCOV-19 and after homologues and heterologous booster vaccinations with these vaccines, as well as the profiles of reinfected patients.
Methods: We analyzed retrospectively 1082 patients vaccinated or unvaccinated with BNT162b2, BBIBP-CorV, and/or ChAdOx1nCoV-19 vaccines to determine their SARS-CoV2 infection statuses using the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in addition to their clinical features.

In this work, α-costic acid (αCA), a plant sesquiterpenoid from Dittrichia viscosa, was grafted into polyaluminum chloride (PAC), forming a new eco-sustainable composite coagulant PAC-αCA with improved functionality. The α-costic acid fraction grafted into the PAC and the distribution of aluminum forms in the composite coagulant were evaluated for their effectiveness in removing bentonite and humic acid from synthetic water. The interaction mechanism between PAC and α-CA was examined by the Al-Ferron time spectrophotometric method, density functional theory (DFT), and FTIR analysis.

PPARγ agonists play a crucial role in regulating metabolic homeostasis for treating type-2 diabetes (T2D). Due to the adverse side effects associated with thiazolidinediones, a class of PPARγ agonists, there is a growing interest in identifying natural compounds from medicinal plants that have the potential to bind PPARγ. In this study, we extensively investigated Moroccan phytochemicals using computational structure-based screening with the crystal structure of the PPARγ ligand-binding domain (PDB ID: 7awc) to discover novel phytochemicals targeting PPARγ.
