Objectives: The HTLV-1 infection persists for life, remaining as asymptomatic viral reservoirs in most patients, ensuring the chain of transmission, but around 4% develop adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL). HTLV-1 is an oncogenic retrovirus that transforms CD4 T lymphocytes and deregulates the lymphoproliferative pathways that contribute to the development of ATLL. To achieve cell transformation, most oncogenic retroviruses use proto-oncogene capture transduction, with proviral integration disrupting the expression of tumor suppressors or proto-oncogenes.

Background: Epidermoid cysts (ECs) are rare benign tumors arising from epidermal cells, associated with congenital abnormalities or acquired through trauma, surgery, or lumbar punctures. They represent <1% of all intraspinal tumors and may be associated with limited dorsal myeloschisis (LDM).
Case Description: A 7-year-old neurologically intact male had a dorsal skin mass since birth located posteriorly in the midline of the inferior thoracic spine.

Background: ICMT (isoprenylcysteine carboxyl methyltransferase) is an enzyme that plays a key role in the post-translational modification of the K-Ras protein. The carboxyl methylation of this protein by ICMT is important for its proper localization and function. Cysmethynil (2-[5-(3-methylphenyl)-l-octyl-lH-indolo-3-yl] acetamide) causes K-Ras mislocalization and interrupts pathways that control cancer cell growth and division through inhibition of ICMT, but its poor water solubility makes it difficult and impractical for clinical use.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6), a pro-inflammatory cytokine, is an important regulator of the inflammatory immune response. We aimed to assess the association of common single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in (rs1800795 G > C, rs1800797 A > G) and () (rs2228145 A > C) genes with HIV-1 infection, AIDS progression, and response to treatment. In this case-control study involving 199 individuals living with HIV-1 and 200 HIV-uninfected controls, we conducted genotyping of SNPs using TaqMan real-time PCR assays.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a significant global health issue with diverse molecular profiles affecting treatment responses. Yet, NSCLC's molecular epidemiology in Morocco is largely unexplored. This study focuses on NSCLC genetic mutations, specifically in adenocarcinoma, among Moroccan patients to contribute to understanding NSCLC in this population.

In this study, a new eco-friendly urea-rich sodium alginate-based hydrogel with a slow-release nitrogen property was prepared, and its effectiveness was evaluated in the cultivation of tomato plants under different water stress levels. The structure and performance of the hydrogel were investigated by FTIR, XRD, TGA, DTG, and SEM. The swelling and release experiments showed that prepared urea-rich hydrogel exhibited a high-water holding capacity (412 ± 4 g/g) and showed a sustained and slow nitrogen release property.

Background: Cancer has become a major health concern due to the increasing morbidity and mortality rates, and its negative social, economic consequences and the heavy financial burden incurred by cancer patients. About 40% of cancers are preventable. The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding cancer prevention, and associated characteristics to inform the development of targeted cancer prevention campaigns and policies.

Our article examines a rare case where hypothyroidism due to Hashimoto's thyroiditis progressed, after a long period (three years) of L-thyroxine substitution, into confirmed hyperthyroidism due to Graves' disease in a 69-year-old man. The article explores possible mechanisms of this unusual transition based on our case and others reported in the literature. Findings suggest that the coexistence of Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Graves' disease can lead to transitions between hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, influenced by the predominance of involved antibodies and residual capacity of thyroid tissue.

Scorpion envenomation poses a global public health issue, with an estimated 1,500,000 cases worldwide annually resulting in 2600 deaths. North Africa, particularly Morocco, experiences severe envenomations, mainly attributed to and in Morocco, and and in Algeria and Tunisia, with case numbers often underestimated. Current treatment relies mainly on symptomatic approaches, except in Morocco, where management is limited to symptomatic treatment due to controversies regarding specific treatment.

Biermer's disease (BD) or pernicious anemia (PA) is an autoimmune atrophic gastritis characterized by the absence of intrinsic factor (IF) secretion, leading to malabsorption of vitamin B12 in the ileum. Its clinical manifestations are primarily hematological, with neuropsychiatric and cardiovascular manifestations being less common. We present the case of a patient with PA diagnosed based on neurological and cardiovascular complications.

Storms can cause significant damage, severe social disturbance and loss of human life, but predicting them is challenging due to their infrequent occurrence. To overcome this problem, a novel deep learning and machine learning approach based on long short-term memory (LSTM) and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) was applied to predict storm characteristics and occurrence in Western France. A combination of data from buoys and a storm database between 1996 and 2020 was processed for model training and testing.

Aim: Our study aimed to perform on Moroccan patients' non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) concerning the relationship between PD-L1 tumor expression, clinicopathological features and tumor infiltrating immune cells (ICs).
Methods: This is a retrospective study (2019 to 2021) conducted on samples from Moroccan patients with NSCLC at the Pathological Anatomy Laboratory of Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca. Eligible participants for our study had to meet the following predefined criteria: age ≥18 years, histologically confirmed NSCLC, no prior therapeutic interventions, availability of clinical and pathological data, and a usable tumor sample for determining PD-L1 status.

Hydrocephalus is defined as an anomaly in the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, with multiple and varied etiologies, both acquired and congenital. The most dominant etiology in the congenital aspect is the stenosis or atresia of the Sylvian Aqueduct, whether isolated or associated with other malformations. We report a case of congenital hydrocephalus due to a stenosis of the Aqueduct of Sylvius in a 2 and a half-year-old child, which was unrecognized in the neonatal period, and the importance of imaging, especially MRI, in the rapid diagnosis of this pathology.

The development of e-textiles necessitates the creation of highly conductive inks that are compatible with precise inkjet printing, which remains a key challenge. This work presents an innovative, syringe-based method to optimize a novel bio-sourced silver ink for inkjet printing on textiles. We investigate the relationships between inks' composition, rheological properties, and printing behavior, ultimately assessing the electrical performance of the fabricated circuits.

Introduction And Importance: A hemivertebra is a congenital anomaly of the spine characterized by an incomplete vertebra resulting from a failure in the formation of the vertebral body. The significance of this article lies in the fact that early diagnosis of hemivertebra allows for personalized surgical treatment, which can enhance outcomes and prevent the development of spinal deformities and associated complications.
Case Presentation: We report on the case of a 17-year-old girl with scoliosis secondary to lumbar hemivertebra, where surgical management was very late due to parental negligence, which delayed diagnosis.
