Tuberculosis (TB) remains a global public health problem. The determination of tuberculosis infection (TBI) using interferon-gamma release assay has now been used widely. We aim to evaluate the positivity rates of Standard E TB-Feron enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (TB-Feron ELISA) and Standard F TB-Feron fluorescent immunoassay (TB-Feron FIA) and their agreement with QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus (QFT-Plus) among TB high-risk populations in Bandung City, Indonesia.

Frequency and Determinants of Flare and Persistently Active Disease in a Large Multinational Prospective Lupus Cohort.

ACR Open Rheumatol

March 2025

The University of Melbourne and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, Melbourne, Victoria, and University of Sydney and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Objective: In contrast to relapsing-remitting patterns, persistently active disease (PAD) is a disease activity pattern in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) that is inadequately studied. We sought to identify the frequency and determinants of flare and PAD in SLE.

Methods: Flare was defined using the Safety of Estrogens in Lupus Erythematosus National Assessment version of the Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index (SELENA-SLEDAI flare index), and PAD was defined as an SLEDAI-2K score of ≥4, excluding serology only, on two or more consecutive visits with a maximum six-month interval.

January 2025

Department of Child Health, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran, Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, Kota Bandung 40161, Indonesia.

: Acute Otitis Media (AOM) is a leading cause of morbidity in children, characterized by fever, otalgia, and hearing loss. If untreated, AOM may progress to chronic complications requiring surgical management. Globally, factors such as allergies, environmental tobacco smoke, and nutritional deficiencies are well-established risk factors, but in Indonesia, particularly rural areas like Bandung Regency, limited awareness and data exacerbate the burden of disease.

Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacokinetics of Moxifloxacin in MDR-TB Patients in Indonesia: Analysis for and .

Antibiotics (Basel)

February 2025

Research Center for Care and Control of Infectious Disease, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jl. Prof. Eyckman, Bandung 40162, West Java, Indonesia.

: Studies show that SNPs in rs2032582 and rs4149015 affect the PK profile of moxifloxacin, a key drug for MDR-TB. This study aimed to assess the genotype frequencies of rs2032582 and rs4149015; describe moxifloxacin AUC and C; and evaluate the association between genotype variations and moxifloxacin AUC and C, corrected for the effect of other determinants in MDR-TB patients in Indonesia. : The genotypes were identified using DNA sequencing.

Introduction: Alport syndrome (AS) is an inherited kidney disease caused by variants in the , or genes, resulting in type IV collagen abnormalities. Although autosomal dominant variants in and are increasingly being diagnosed, X-linked AS (XLAS) caused by variants predominates. Single nucleotide substitutions in introns positioned at first and second from the last nucleotide (called a consensus sequence) of exons always cause aberrant splicing.

Advances in medical and surgical practices, along with enhanced cardiac ICU services, have led to a substantial increase in cardiac surgeries (CS). Consequently, CS is now more frequently performed on older patients undergoing complex procedures, which results in higher rates of postoperative complications (POC) such as muscle proteolysis, prolonged hospital stays and worsened clinical and functional outcomes. These complications can delay early mobilization (EM) programs and exercise as core components of post-CS rehabilitation even though sometimes they fail to prevent functional decline.

Background: Predicting nontraumatic spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (SICH) patient prognosis has been commonly practiced, particularly when providing informed consent and considering surgical treatment. Biomarkers might provide more real-time evaluation of SICH patients' condition than clinical prognostic scoring systems. This study aimed to evaluate the reliability of blood biomarkers in predicting prognosis in SICH patients by systematic review and meta-analysis.

Here, we present a rare case of a secondary aneurysmal bone cyst arising in conjunction with a chondroblastoma located in the left diaphysis of the ulna.

Background: The assessment of Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) is essential in clinical outcomes, focusing on the subjective perception of individuals regarding the physical, mental, and social aspects of health status. However, conducting a large-scale HRQoL assessment poses various challenges that necessitate the development of a non-burdensome instrument. One promising solution is adapting Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Global Health Scale v1.
