Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is characterized by cognitive inflexibility and social deficits, with a notably limited range of brain-targeted medications, particularly in the field of nanomedicine. Herein, we introduce the brain-targeted HS donor cross-linked nanomicelle, named mannose-PEG600-lipoic acid (Man-LA). Man-LA demonstrates enhanced stability and precise brain delivery by interacting with glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) in astrocytes, facilitating a gradual release of HS that is modulated by glutathione (GSH).

Background: Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the colon with an unknown etiology. Alkaline sphingomyelinase (alk-SMase) is specifically expressed by intestinal epithelial cells, and has been reported to play an anti-inflammatory role. However, the underlying mechanism is still unclear.

Background: Among all types of mental disorders, individuals with schizophrenia exhibit the highest frequency of aggressive behavior. This disrupts the healthcare environment and poses threats to family life and social harmony. Present approaches fail to identify individuals with schizophrenia who are predisposed to aggressive behavior.

In recent years, the application of nanoimaging technology on standardize tumor diagnosis has become a new research hotspot, especially nanoprobes. Our research group has synthesized a kind of nanocarrier, mPEG2000-GPLGIAGQ-DSPE, which has the characteristic of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP2) sensitive ability in tumor microenvironment. Meanwhile, the encapsulation method is adopted to prepare MMP2-sensitive tumor-targeted prussian blue fluorescent nanoprobe with mPEG2000-GPLGIAGQ-DSPE as the carrier.

Background And Aims: Hepatosteatosis is one of the early features of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) and pharmaceutical or genetic interfering of the development of hepatosteatosis will efficiently alleviate the progression of ALD. Currently, the role of histone methyltransferase Setdb1 in ALD is not yet well understood.
Method: Lieber-De Carli diet mice model and NIAAA mice model were constructed to confirm the expression of Setdb1.

This study aims to verify the mediating role of resilience between self-esteem and mental disability and to analyze the moderating role of gender in the relationship between resilience and mental disability in patients with schizophrenia. Patients with schizophrenia have been selected from Harbin Psychiatric (Baiyupao) Hospital and Daqing Third Hospital in Heilongjiang Province from January to December 2021. The study recruited a total of 220 patients with schizophrenia, including 120 males and 100 females to measure their self-esteem, resilience and mental disability.

Objective: Treatment-refractory auditory hallucinations (TRAH) in schizophrenia often do not improve with pharmacotherapy. We performed a meta-analysis of randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled clinical trials (RCTs) that systematically examined the therapeutic effects and tolerability of adjunctive active versus sham active transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) for auditory hallucinations as measured by the Auditory Hallucination Rating Scale (AHRS) in schizophrenia patients with TRAH.
Methods: Relevant data were extracted, checked and analyzed using the Review Manager, Version 5.
Schizophrenia is associated with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS), which is an important risk factor for developing cognitive impairment in the general population. A few case-control studies have explored the relationship between MetS and cognitive deficits in individuals with schizophrenia but with inconsistent findings. This meta-analysis of case-control studies was carried out to explore the association between MetS and cognitive performance in patients with schizophrenia.

Antipsychotic-induced dyslipidemia could increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. This is a meta-analysis of randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trials to examine the efficacy and safety of adjunctive metformin for dyslipidemia induced by antipsychotics in schizophrenia. The standardized mean differences (SMDs) and risk ratios (RRs) with their 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using the random-effects model with the RevMan 5.

Previous studies have shown a significant correlation between depression, resilience, self-efficacy, self-esteem and hope among schizophrenia patients, but few studies have examined the mechanisms among these factors. This study aimed to analyse the relationships among resilience, self-efficacy, self-esteem and hope as influencing factors of depression in schizophrenia patients. A cross-sectional study was conducted, and 361 schizophrenia patients were recruited.

In order to study the structure-activity relationships of xanthene derivatives, four series of -substituted 14-aryl-14-dibenzo[,]xanthene-3,11-dicarboxamide derivatives were synthesized. The structures of all compounds were identified by ¹H-NMR, HR-MS and IR spectra, in which compounds 6a-h were further identified by C-NMR spectra. The in vitro antitumor activity of the synthesized compounds was tested by MTT assay.

Although supplemental high-level oxygen treatment can promote the survival of premature infants, hyperoxia may adversely induce acute lung injury (ALI) in newborns. Our prior work illustrated that hyperoxic exposure could enhance the release of placental growth factor (PLGF) in the lungs of neonatal rats. We therefore postulated that PLGF contributed to hyperoxic ALI in newborns and evaluated the anti-PLGF treatment mediated by systematic delivery of lentivirus in hyperoxic ALI in this study.

Aims: To investigate the role of placenta growth factor (PLGF) in hyperoxia-induced lung injury in preterm born rats.
Main Methods: Primary alveolar epithelial cells type II (AECIIs) were exposed to 90% oxygen for 24h. Preterm born rats were delivered by caesarean section, injected with PLGF-shRNA, and exposed to 90% oxygen for 14days.

Life-saving mechanical ventilation can also cause lung injury through the overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), leading to bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD)-like symptoms in preterm infants. It is reported that the autophagic protein microtubule-associated protein-1 light chain (LC)-3B can confer protection against hyperoxia-induced DNA damage in lung alveolar epithelium. However, its role in the transdifferentiation of type II alveolar epithelial cells (AECIIs) to type I cells (AECIs) is unclear and requires further investigation.

Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) occurs frequently in lung epithelium in response to damage stimuli, such as inflammation and oxidative stress. Our group has already found an excessive release of placental growth factor (PLGF) in hyperoxic lung injury in newborn rodents. Nonetheless, whether this increased PLGF plays a role in mediating EMT process of alveolar epithelial cells (AECs) is unclear and requires further investigation.
