The apelin receptor (APJ) is a key player in tumour angiogenesis, but its role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear. This study aims to elucidate the function of the apelin/APJ pathway in HCC using a multi-omics approach and identify potential therapeutic biomarkers. Differentially expressed genes related to the apelin/APJ axis were identified from bulk transcriptomics to reveal HCC-associated disparities.

Homogeneous light-initiated chemiluminescence technology (LICA) is widely used in clinical diagnostics due to the advantages of high sensitivity, minimal reagent usage, and no need for washing. Luminescent microspheres receive singlet oxygen emitted by photosensitive microspheres to generate optical signals. Therefore,O-initiated luminescent nanospheres are crucial, but there are few reports on the preparation of O-initiated luminescent nanospheres.

AINTEGUMENTA-LIKE genes regulate reproductive growth and bud dormancy in Platanus acerifolia.

Plant Cell Rep

October 2024

Key Laboratory of Horticultural Plant Biology, Ministry of Education, College of Horticulture and Forestry Sciences, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, 430070, Hubei, China.

Platanus acerifolia AIL genes PaAIL5a/b and PaAIL6b participate in FT-AP1/FUL-AIL pathways to regulate bud dormancy. In addition, PaAIL6a/b can promote flowering, and PaAIL5b and PaAIL6b affect floral development. Bud dormancy and floral induction are essential processes for perennial plants, they are both regulated by photoperiod, temperature, and hormones, indicating the existence of common regulators for both processes.

FASEB J

October 2024

Department of Medicine, Zhejiang Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hangzhou, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates diabetes osteoporosis (DOP) to find potential biomarkers and understand its mechanisms using bioinformatics tools and lab experiments.
  • - Researchers identified 42 genes linked to DOP and key pathways like cytokine interactions and apoptosis, with specific emphasis on up-regulated genes such as TNF and IL6.
  • - Experiments showed that high glucose levels (50 mg/mL) hindered the growth of osteoblasts (cells responsible for bone formation) and increased their apoptosis, implicating the TNF-α/FAS/FASLG signaling pathway in DOP development.

[Biological and genome characteristics of a novel broad host-range phage ΦEP1 infecting enteroinvasive ].

Sheng Wu Gong Cheng Xue Bao

September 2024

Food Safety Key Laboratory of Zhejiang Province, School of Food Science and Biotechnology, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Hangzhou 310018, Zhejiang, China.

We analyzed the biological and genome characteristics of a phage infecting enteroinvasive (EIEC), aiming to provide resources and a reference for the prevention and treatment of EIEC. With the EIEC preserved in our laboratory as the host bacterium, one strain of phage was isolated from the effluent sample from a chicken farm in Huzhou, Zhejiang and named ΦEP1. The titer, optimal multiplicity of infection, one-step growth curve, temperature, pH value, chloroform and bile salt sensitivity of ΦEP1 were determined by the double-layer agar plate method.

How attentive is a student in class? It is an interesting and challenging question in the field of education research. In this paper, a concentration evaluation method based on head Euler angle is proposed. First, a fine large-small-interval video sampling strategy is advocated and concepts of dynamic threshold and action amplitude coefficient are defined, which are fused together to get the head up rate.

The role of liquid-liquid phase separation in the disease pathogenesis and drug development.

Biomed Pharmacother

College of Pharmacy, Zhejiang University of Technology, Hangzhou 310014, PR China; Geriatric Medicine Center, Department of Endocrinology, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital (Affiliated People's Hospital), Hangzhou Medical College, Hangzhou, Zhejiang 310014, China. Electronic address:

Misfolding and aggregation of specific proteins are associated with liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS), and these protein aggregates can interfere with normal cellular functions and even lead to cell death, possibly affecting gene expression regulation and cell proliferation. Therefore, understanding the role of LLPS in disease may help to identify new mechanisms or therapeutic targets and provide new strategies for disease treatment. There are several ways to disrupt LLPS, including screening small molecules or small molecule drugs to target the upstream signaling pathways that regulate the LLPS process, selectively dissolve and destroy RNA droplets or protein aggregates, regulate the conformation of mutant protein, activate the protein degradation pathway to remove harmful protein aggregates.

Department of Gastric surgery, Zhejiang Cancer Hospital (Zhejiang Cancer Center)/Key Laboratory of Prevention, Diagnosis and Therapy of Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer of Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou 310022, China.

To analyze epidemiology of gastric cancer five-year survival distribution in Zhejiang population-based cancer registration. The follow-up data of registrated gastric cancer cases diagnosed from 2008 to 2019 in 22 national cancer registry areas of Zhejiang Province were collected and divided into three diagnostic periods: 2008-2011, 2012-2015 and 2016-2019 to calculate five-year observed survival rates (OSRs), five-year relative survival rates (RSRs) and five-year age-standardized relative survival rates (ARSRs). The distribution of population characteristics (including gender, urban/rural, age group and occupation) and clinical characteristics (including the highest diagnostic institution, sub-site, pathological type and degree of differentiation) of gastric cancer survival rates in each period were analysed.
