Prior research has established that actions, such as eye movements, influence time perception. However, the relationship between pre-saccadic attention, which is often associated with eye movement, and subjective time perception is not explored. Our study examines the impact of pre-saccadic attention on the subjective experience of time during eye movements, particularly focusing on its influence on subjective time perception at the saccade target.

Design and manufacture of cathode materials, with suitable pore structure and high electrical conductivity to matching zinc anode, solving the problem of dissolution and structural degradation of cathode materials for zinc ion batteries (ZIBs), is great significance to the development of ZIBs. Herein, Vanadium Nitride (VN) uniformly decorated N-doped micro/mesoporous carbon nanofibers (VN/N-MCNF) with appropriate porous and reactive sites for Zn is prepared by using V-MOF, as important precursor via electrostatic spinning and pyrolysis technique. As a cathode electrode for ZIBs, the VN/N-MCNF is suitable for diffusion and adsorption of large-sized solvated structured [Zn(HO)], for its abundant micro/mesoporous structure and good electrical conductivity.

Since the inception of hybrid rice technology 50 years ago, it has not only substantially increased rice yield per unit area but also expedited the development of high-quality rice varieties. However, the evolutionary characteristics of hybrid rice quality remain unclear. To address this gap, it is imperative to leverage more representative and comprehensive hybrid rice resources to analyze phenotypic variation diversity and its primary genetic basis, thereby offering more efficient guidance for molecular breeding.

Objective: Although smart senior care services offer numerous benefits, they have not yet gained widespread acceptance among the general populace, particularly seniors. Numerous related issues have surfaced, with the structural imbalance between supply and demand being most prominent. Currently, there is a lack of research distinguishing between the various categories of demand for smart ageing services and the associated behaviors of older individuals.

The tertiary structure of normal podocytes prevents protein from leaking into the urine. However, observing the complexity of podocytes is challenging because of the scale differences in their three-dimensional structure and the close proximity between neighboring cells in space. In this study, we explored podocyte-secreted angiopoietin-like 4 (ANGPTL4) as a potential morphological marker via super-resolution microscopy (SRM).

Background: Glomus tumors are rare, benign mesenchymal neoplasms predominantly located in subungual regions of the extremities. Their occurrence in the mandibular region is exceptionally uncommon, presenting unique diagnostic challenges. Only a limited number of submandibular glomus tumors have been documented, leaving their presentation and management largely underexplored.

Coastal wetlands contain very large carbon (C) stocks-termed as blue C-and their management has emerged as a promising nature-based solution for climate adaptation and mitigation. The interactions among sources, pools, and molecular compositions of soil organic C (SOC) within blue C ecosystems (BCEs) remain elusive. Here, we explore these interactions along an 18,000 km long coastal line of salt marshes, mangroves, and seagrasses in China.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common brain-gut disorder often accompanied by depressive symptoms, with atrophy and hyperactivity of the anterior cingulate gyrus (ACC) being key drivers of both IBS and its psychiatric comorbidities. This study aimed to investigate the functional connectivity (FC) patterns of pregenual ACC (pgACC) and anterior midcingulate cortex (aMCC) in IBS patients with depressive symptoms (DEP-IBS). A whole-brain FC analysis was conducted using pgACC and aMCC as regions of interest in three groups: 28 DEP-IBS patients, 21 IBS patients without depressive symptoms (nDEP-IBS), and 36 matched healthy controls (HCs).

Non-Hermitian topological photonics plays a key role in bridging topological matter with gain and loss engineering in optics. Here we report the experimental observation of the break of chiral currents in a Hall ladder from the non-Hermiticity by constructing synthetic frequency dimension in two rings, where currents on both legs of the ladder co-propagate in the same direction. The origin of such phenomena is resulted from the interplay between the effective magnetic flux and the on-site gain and loss.

Background: The individualized prediction and discrimination of precancerous lesions of gastric cancer (PLGC) is critical for the early prevention of gastric cancer (GC). However, accurate non-invasive methods for distinguishing between PLGC and GC are currently lacking. This study therefore aimed to develop a risk prediction model by machine learning and deep learning techniques to aid the early diagnosis of GC.

Background And Objective: Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, necessitating early and accurate detection methods. Our study aims to enhance lung cancer detection by integrating VGGNet-16 form of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Support Vector Machines (SVM) into a hybrid model (SVMVGGNet-16), leveraging the strengths of both models for high accuracy and reliability in classifying lung cancer types in different 4 classes such as adenocarcinoma (ADC), large cell carcinoma (LCC), Normal, and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).
Methods: Using the LIDC-IDRI dataset, we pre-processed images with a median filter and histogram equalization, segmented lung tumors through thresholding and edge detection, and extracted geometric features such as area, perimeter, eccentricity, compactness, and circularity.

The ever-increasing demand in chemical biology and medicinal research requires the development of new synthetic methods for the rapid construction of libraries of heterocycles from simple raw materials. In this context, the utilization of primary amines or HO as the simple - or -sources in the assembly of a heterocyclic ring skeleton is highly desirable from the viewpoint of atom- and step-economy. Herein, we describe a highly efficient three-component reaction of diazo, allylic diacetates, and commercially available anilines (or HO) to access structurally diverse pyrrolidine and tetrahydrofuran derivatives.

Reported herein is a concise synthesis of sulfoximidoyl amidines enabled by a Pd-catalyzed cascade aza-Claisen rearrangement and nucleophilic reaction at room temperature. Free -sulfoximines and -allylynamides were employed as the modular building blocks to produce the expected sulfoximine amidine derivatives in highly chemoselective models and in 100% atom efficiency. A broad range of functional groups were well tolerated under these gentle reaction conditions to give the desired products in generally good to excellent yields.

Due to the simultaneous activation of hydrogen peroxide (HO) and oxygen, Ru nanocrystals exhibit inherent peroxidase- and oxidase-like activities, thereby limiting their extensive application in biosensing. Phase engineering of Ru nanocrystals holds great promise for enhancing catalytic activity and selectivity but remains a challenge. Here, highly active Ru nanocrystals with a metastable face-centered cubic (fcc) structure were successfully synthesized via a facile wet-chemical method followed by an etching step, enabling selective activation of HO and demonstrating promising peroxidase-like activity.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are pervasive environmental pollutants with significant health risks due to their carcinogenic, mutagenic, and teratogenic properties. Traditional methods for PAH identification, primarily relying on gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), utilize spectral library searches together with other techniques, such as mass defect analysis. However, these methods are limited by incomplete spectral libraries and a high false positive rate.
