To analyse the characteristics of micronuclus and chromosomal aberrations and the lens opacity in different working years, ages and work type of radiation workers with lens opacity. In January 2022, we selected 400 radiation workers with lens opacity who had undergone occupational health examination in Hangzhou Hospital for the Prevention and Treatment of Occupational Disease from March 2014 to December 2021 as research objects. To analyze the differences of micronucleus, chromosome aberration and the lens opacification rates of different length of service, type of work, age radiologic workers.

To assess the factors that influencing the persistence of virus neutralizing antibody (VNA), and to establish prediction models to provide the appropriate timing for booster administration, a cohort of post-exposure rabies vaccine recipients was investigated. The VNA determined records from 2019 to 2023 and interrelated factors were analyzed, including gender, age, rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) administration, vaccine products, vaccination schedule, and vaccination intervals etc. The geometric mean of VNA titre within 1 month after primary vaccination with 2-1-1 schedule was statistically higher than that with 5-dose course ( = 0.

Crocidolite is a carcinogen contributing to the pathogenesis of malignant mesothelioma. This study aimed to characterize the possible telomere-related events mediating the malignant transformation of mesothelial cells with and without SETD2 under crocidolite exposure. The crocidolite concentration resulting in 90% viable SETD2 knockout Met-5A (Met-5A) and Met-5A were estimated to be 0.

Asbestos is a fibrous silicate mineral exhibiting biopersistence and carcinogenic properties and contributes to mesothelioma. Despite the concept of gene-environmental interaction in pathogenesis of mesothelioma, the possible pathophysiological changes of mesothelial cells simultaneously with SET domain containing 2 (SETD2) loss and asbestos exposure remains obscure. Herein, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated SETD2 knockout Met-5A mesothelial cells (Met-5A ) were established and exposed with crocidolite, an amphibole asbestos.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on assessing the risks of exposure to welding fumes and airborne heavy metals in electronic manufacturing workshops in Hangzhou, China.
  • Air samples from welding workshops showed high levels of contaminants like manganese (Mn) and iron (Fe), with Mn strongly correlating with Fe, while non-welding workshops had elevated copper (Cu) levels.
  • Health risk assessments indicated that while some metal exposure in welding workshops exceeded permissible limits, the lifetime cancer risks were acceptable, but non-cancer risks for Mn were concerning in both types of workshops.

Objective: Growing evidence suggests that alcohol consumption is a risk factor for hearing loss; however, the evidence has been inconsistent. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effect of alcohol consumption on hearing loss.

Methods: We searched several databases up to November 2021, for published articles using the keywords "alcohol drinking" and "hearing loss".

Article Synopsis
  • * A total of 39 studies with nearly 4,000 lung cancer patients and over 3,000 healthy controls were analyzed, revealing that lung cancer patients had significantly higher serum copper/zinc ratios compared to healthy individuals and those with benign lung diseases.
  • * The findings suggest that an elevated serum copper/zinc ratio may be linked to a higher risk of developing lung cancer, with higher ratios observed in patients at more advanced stages of the disease.

Environmental radioactivity monitoring in the surroundings of nuclear facilities is important to provide baseline data for effective detection in case of any radioactive release in the region. In this work, we report for the first time the long-term monitoring data of Cs and Sr in environmental and food samples around Qinshan nuclear power plant in 2012-2019. The distribution levels, temporal variations and source terms of Cs and Sr in the investigated samples were discussed.

To study the correlation between occupational radiation exposure and chronic metabolic diseases. The status of chronic metabolic diseases of medical workers were compared in 5 hospitals in Hangzhou. As representatives of chronic metabolic diseases, diabetes and metabolic syndrome (MS) were compared in association with duration of radiation exposure.

Genome sequencing and comparative genome analysis of 6 hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae strains isolated in China.

Arch Microbiol

August 2021

School of Public Health and Management, Chongqing Medical University, NO.1 Yixueyuan Road, Yuzhong District, Chongqing, 400016, China.

Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKP) has been increasingly reported over the past three decades and causes severe infections. To increase our understanding of hvKP at the genome level, genome sequencing and comparative genome analysis were performed on 6 hvKPs. The whole genome DNA from 6 hvKPs with different capsular serotypes isolated in China was extracted.

To explore the application of the Short Form of Quality of Life (SF-36) scale in the investigation of quality of life of occupational disease patients. In May 2019, SF-36 scale was used to investigate the occupational disease patients diagnosed in Hangzhou. The reliability of the scale was evaluated by Cronbach's α coefficient, and the validity of the scale was evaluated by exploratory factor analysis.

The iron acquisition system is an essential virulence factor for human infection and is under tight regulatory control in a variety of pathogens. Ferric-uptake regulator (Fur) is one of Fe-responsive transcription factor that maintains iron homeostasis, and the regulator of capsule synthesis (Rcs) is known to regulate exopolysaccharide biosynthesis. We speculate the Rcs may involve in iron-acquisition given the identified regulator box in the upstream of that participated in the biosynthesis of enterobactin.

June 2019

Department of Infectious Diseases Control, Hangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Hangzhou 310021, China.

A total of 1 685 school-age children selected from Hangzhou received lung function testing to evaluate the short-term effects of air pollution on their lung function. The results showed that in every 10 μg/m(3) increase of average concentration of PM(2.5) and PM(10) on the day of the test and the day before the test, peak expiratory flow (PEF) decreased 0.
