Recombinant erythropoietin protective and related effects on brain injury in premature infants.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect of recombinant erythropoietin at different doses on brain injury in premature infants and the related effects on blood routine, liver function, intellectual development, mental development index (MDI), psychomotor development index (PDI), etc. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 120 premature infants were divided into four groups, including experimental group A (n=30), experimental group B (n=30), experimental group C (n=30) and control group (n=30). The experimental group was treated with different doses of recombinant erythropoietin for brain injury protection of premature infants, while the control group with conventional methods.

Effects of physical and mental health factors and family function on the self-perception of aging in the elderly of Chinese community.

Background: To examine the effects of physical and mental health factors and family functioning on the self-perception of ageing in elderly people.

Methods: A random cluster sampling method was used to select elderly people aged over 60 from three communities in Handan City. Subjects were evaluated via face-to-face interviews using the Chinese version of the Ageing Perception Questionnaire, the Family Function Scale, the SF-36 Short-Form Health Survey, and a self-compiled general questionnaire.

Predicting factors of tumor progression in adult patients with low-grade glioma within five years after surgery.

Background: Glioma is the most common primary intracranial tumor with the worst prognosis whose 5-year mortality rate is second only to pancreatic cancer and lung cancer among systemic tumors. WHO divides gliomas into grades I to IV, with grades I and II as low grades. Low-grade gliomas tend to occur in people between the ages of 30 and 40, who usually have the characteristics of well-differentiated, slow growth, and low invasiveness.

Surgical Procedures Used for Correction of Scheuermann's Kyphosis: A Meta-Analysis.

Objectives: Scheuermann's kyphosis can cause severe back pain and cosmetic disorders to patients. Previous studies on surgical procedure selection for correction of Scheuermann's kyphosis have drawn controversial conclusions. Here, a meta-analysis was performed to figure out a better way between anterior-posterior (AP) combined procedures and posterior-only (PO) procedures.

[Effect of SOCS1 Gene on Growth Inhibition of Acute Myeloid Leukemia Cells Mediated by JAK2/STAT Signaling Pathway].

Objective: To explore the correlation of SOCS1 gene methylation with the activity of JAK2/STAT signaling pathway, genesis and progress of acute myeloid leukemia.

Methods: Several techniques, such as cell culture, qPCR, MS-PCR, Western bolt, CCK-8 assay, flow cytometry and gene transfection were used to analyze the relation of expression and methylation statues of SOCS1 gene with the genesis and progression of AML in 120 AML patients and leukemia cell lines U937 and THP-1, at the same time to analyze the changes of downstream protein expression in JAK2/STAT signaling pathway and their effect on the growth and apoptosis of leukemia cell lines.

Results: The positive rate of WT1/ABL in SOCS1 methylated group was significantly higher than that in SOCS1 non-methylated group, and the complete remission rate of one course treatment in SOCS1-methylated group was significantly lower than that in SOCS1 non-methylated group.
