This study introduces a novel approach to aerobic granular sludge technology that minimizes the start-up time and guarantees the formation of stable granules. This is achieved by seeding the reactor with a cationic polymer without using inoculated sludge. Three cationic polymers (Hydrofloc C4400SA, C8896, and polyelectrolyte emulsion) were tested to determine the most appropriate polymer for aerobic granular sludge (AGS) startup based on the optimal dose and formation of aerobic granules.

Inflammation is one of the pertinent responses of the body, depending mainly on the process and factors involved in combating the oxidative species produced either by any infection or failure of the antioxidant pathways. In search of new compounds to exhibit antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity here, we have successfully reported the synthesis of three novel compounds of Piperidin-4-one skeleton by adopting simple and convenient methods. Compound , (3, 3-dimethyl-2, 6-bis(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl) piperidin-4-one) was synthesized by one-pot Mannich condensation reaction having good yield (88 %).

Flurbiprofen (FBP), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), is commonly used to treat the pain of rheumatoid arthritis, but in prolonged use it causes gastric irritation and ulcer. To avoid these adverse events of NSAIDs, the simultaneous administration of H receptor antagonists such as ranitidine hydrochloride (RHCl) is obligatory. Here, we developed composite oral fast-disintegrating films (ODFs) containing FBP along with RHCl to provide a gastroprotective effect as well as to enhance the solubility and bioavailability of FBP.

Reserpine (Res)-induced depletion of monoamines and altered neurotransmission and produces oxidative stress. Tryptophan (TRP) regulated the serotonin neurotransmission. Because systemically injected Res induced behavioral deficits and oxidative stress, while, dietary components prevented these adverse effects, we used TRP a pharmacological tool to prevent Res- induced changes in behavior, memory impairments, oxidative stress and regulation of serotonin neurotransmission in rats.

Recent studies on prevalence of urinary tract infection indicate that approximately one third population of the world has been suffering from this disease. The current study was designed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of aqueous-ethanolic extracts (30/70) of Tribulus terrestris (TT), Vaccinium macrocarpon (VM), Cuminum cyminum (CC), Rheum emodi (RE), Piper cubeba (PC) and their compound formulation "Crano-cure" against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, Staphylococcus saprophyticus and Proteus mirabilis through disc diffusion method and agar well methods compared with standard Ciprofloxacin. DPPH radical scavenging methods were applied for antioxidant activities and phytochemical analysis was also performed to detect the phytoconstituents.
