Background: Preeclampsia (PE) is a serious inflammatory process that is unique to pregnancy, occurring at or after the 20th week of pregnancy, and leading to maternal and neonatal illness and systemic disruptions. Placental hypoxia leads to increased levels of cytokines and inflammatory syncytiotrophoblast microvillus membrane microparticles (STBM) which activates neutrophils leading to oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction in preeclampsia. The mechanisms that cause PE in people remain unknown.

Failure in recognizing non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) leads to misdiagnosis of multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis Complex (MTBC). There is an unmet need for diagnostic tools that can differentiate between NTMs and MTBC, and that are affordable for Low- and Middle-income Countries (LMIC). Earlier we developed a strip-based CrfA assay technology to detect the Carbapenem Resistance Factor A (CrfA) enzyme present only in MTBC.

Introduction: The brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and transcription nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor-2 (NRF-2) play an important role in Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the interactive involvement of BDNF and NRF-2 in respect to antioxidant mechanisms in different parts of the AD brain is still unclear. Considering the above condition, used S-nitrosoglutathione (GSNO) to examine whether it modulates the BDNF and NRF-2 levels to activate signaling pathway to promote antioxidant levels in AD brains.

Objectives: Stress is an aversive stimulus which disrupts the biological milieu of the organism and a variety of emotional and environmental stressors are known to influence allergic and immunological disorders like bronchial asthma but the pharmacological basis of such interactions is not clearly defined. (ashwagandha) is a potent anti-stress agent used widely in Indian traditional medicine and the present experimental study evaluated the effects of extract (WSE) on chronic stress-induced neurobehavioral and immunological responses in an experimental model of allergic asthma in rats.
Methods: Wistar rats (200-250 g) were immunized and challenged with ovalbumin (OVA) and exposed to restraint stress (RS) and WSE treatments for 15 days.

Objective: Primary Spindle cell tumors of the thyroid are very rare and comprise a myriad of differential diagnoses ranging from reactive proliferations to neoplastic processes. Differentiation amongst these rare entities is of utmost importance as it defines the prognosis and also guides future therapy.
Case Report: Hereby, we present a rare case of spindle cell variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma in a sixty-four-year-old female which posed a diagnostic challenge on histology.

There is an unmet need for tools that permit diagnosis of Tuberculosis (TB) that are affordable, low-tech, and can differentiate Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb) from non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM). In this study, we have developed a strip-based assay to detect the activity of a unique Carbapenem Resistance Factor A (CrfA) enzyme present only in M.

Objectives: Airway remodeling in asthma involves chronic inflammation associated with structural changes, which result in severe airflow limitation and very few therapeutic options. Thus, the present study was designed to experimentally evaluate the ameliorative effects of (WS) root extract against Ovalbumin (OVA)-induced airway remodeling in a rat model of asthma.
Methods: Wistar rats were immunized (i.

Objective: To compare the feto-maternal outcomes among various BMI groups as per Asia Pacific Standards.
Method: This is a retrospective non-interventional observational study on 1396 antenatal women with singleton pregnancy. Their BMI based on pre-pregnancy weight was calculated and the women were divided into various groups as per Asia Pacific standards for BMI classification.

Background: The Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) are the frontline health staff that provide essential health care services, including diagnosis and treatment of malaria. To support India's malaria-free goal by 2030, a project known as the Malaria Elimination Demonstration Project (MEDP) in the tribal district of Mandla was initiated. This study assessed the capabilities of ASHAs and ANMs of Mandla district to diagnose and treat malaria.

Background: This is a quality improvement study in North India undertaken to observe the efficacy and safety of a proposed set of interventions along Quality Improvement guidelines to reduce cesarean rates.
Materials And Methods: It was a retrospective cross-sectional study conducted in New Delhi. Measures were iteratively introduced from 2017 and improved using multiple PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act) cycles to note the overall reduction in cesarean rates.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) has been closely linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and insulin resistance plays a key role in the onset and development of AD. It has also been reported that NO donors play an important role in diabetes and have neuroprotective activity. The present study evaluated the effects NOS substrate, L-arginine and NOS-blocker, NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) on cognitive functions, brain amyloid β levels and other associated biochemical markers in diabetes (T2DM)-induced AD in rats.

Periostin is a matricellular, nonstructural protein belonging to the fasciclin family and is encoded by the POSTN gene in humans. Periostin plays an important role in maintaining a normal tissue matrix in the lungs. Despite the vital role as a structural mediator in tissue growth and repair, periostin is involved in the pathogenic mechanism during tissue remodeling and fibrosis.

Dementia is a term that encompasses a group of clinical symptoms affecting memory, thinking and social abilities, characterized by progressive impairment of memory performance and cognitive functions. There are several factors involved in the pathogenesis and progression of dementia, such as old age, brain ischemia, toxin exposure, and oxidative stress. There are extensive similarities between dementia and Alzheimer's disease (AD) either in clinical manifestations or experimental animal models.

The term integration has gained importance in Medical education over the last two decade, and is believed to facilitate knowledge, that is more meaningful to clinical practice. A move towards integration in medical education is likely to reduce fragmentation of the medical course and motivate students towards better learning, It aims to improve medical education by bridging the traditional barrier between basic and clinician sciences. Integration is one of the major changes incorporated in the new competency based curriculum for undergraduate medical program in India.

Stress gastric ulceration is a clinical condition leading to morbidity/mortality and complex etiopathological factors are involved. Pharmacotherapy of such gastric mucosal lesions is not consistent and novel strategies are being explored. Targeting gastrointestinal factors have showed equivocal results and there is a possibility of involvement of extra-gastrointestinal factors.

Purpose: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is considered as a risk factor for atherosclerosis and a leading cause of mortality due to cardiovascular disease (CVD). The study assessed the association of COPD with atherosclerotic risk factors and compared the predictor role of various cardiovascular (CV) risk score calculators in Indian subjects with COPD.
Patients And Methods: Forty subjects with stable COPD and forty age, gender and body mass index (BMI)-matched healthy controls were included in the case-control study conducted in a tertiary care hospital.
