Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) are a pair of relatively modern therapeutic surgical methods in advanced cancerous patients with peritoneal metastasis (PM). The goal of CRS + HIPEC is treatment or to improve survival outcomes, which are linked to high morbidity side effects and complications, even with their possible advantages. Surgical-related, chemotherapy-related, anesthetic-related, gastrointestinal, organs and systemic complications are the categories into which complications are separated according to frequency, risk factors, and effect on patient outcomes.

Background: Pain is one of the most common symptoms in the patients hospitalized in intensive care units, and its correct and timely diagnosis is important. Identifying tools that accurately assess pain in a shorter time will help patients better manage pain. The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy and the duration of response to behavioral pain scales (BPS and CPOT) during painful procedures in the intensive care unit.

Workers at municipal solid waste (MSW) facilities may be exposed to a range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This study aimed to evaluate the potential systemic and respiratory effects, as well as to conduct cancer and non-cancer health risk assessments, associated with exposure to an important group of VOCs-Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes (BTEX)-among MSW workers. For this purpose, 48 air samples were collected from an MSW facility (36 samples from the landfill and 12 samples from the transfer station) and from a green space serving as the control area (n = 6), located in Hamedan, in the west of Iran, during the spring and summer of 2019.

Objective: Parkinson's disease is the second most common disease of the central nervous system after Alzheimer's disease. Currently, no blood test or other laboratory tests are available to diagnose this condition. One of the practical methods in diagnosing and evaluating the progress of neurodegenerative diseases is the use of optical coherence tomography (OCT), with which it is possible to accurately measure the thickness of the layers of the retina, as well as the thickness and volume of the macula.

This study aimed to assess nano-pumice (NP) from pumice mining waste as a local, cost-effective anode catalyst in microbial fuel cells (MFCs) for treating edible vegetable oil refinery wastewater (EVORW) and generating bioenergy. Pumice mining waste was converted into nano in three stages: crushing up to ≤3 cm, reducing the size of the previous step particles to 150 μm and converting the previous step particles to <100 nm. Nano-pumice prepared was coated on the carbon cloth (CC) to increase anode surface area of MFC.

After experiencing many ups and downs, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy has reached a milestone as an anti-cancer method, as evidenced by the increasing number of clinical trials and approved products. Nonetheless, there is a real need to optimize CAR-T cell therapy and overcome its existing limitations. The importance of cellular starting material for generating CAR-T cells is undeniable, as the current personalized manufacturing approach is the main roadblock to providing a fast, affordable, and standard treatment for patients.

Nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) represents the most prevalent form of skin cancer globally, with basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) being the most common types. The search for effective chemopreventive and therapeutic agents has led to the exploration of natural compounds, among which resveratrol (RES), a polyphenolic phytoalexin found in grapes, berries, peanuts, and red wine, has garnered significant attention. This comprehensive review aims to elucidate the effects of RES on NMSC, focusing on its mechanisms of action, efficacy in preclinical studies, and potential as a chemopreventive and therapeutic agent.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) has recently been considered a class of endogenous RNAs that form a continuous closed loop with an ability to cancer development. Due to its properties, circRNAs has promising potential to be considered as non-invasive cancer biomarkers. The present review comprehensively and systematically assessed the role of circRNAs as diagnostic markers in blood or tissue samples of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients.

Background And Aim: Research has documented chronic non-specific low back pain (CNSLBP) as one of the primary causes of absenteeism at work, often accompanied by the use of health insurance and healthcare services. Considering little research on the consequences of open/closed kinetic chain (O/CKC) exercises in water on CNSLBP improvement, the present study is to investigate the effects of such interventions on the electrical activity of selected lumbar muscles, pain, lumbopelvic control (LPC), ground reaction force (GRF), and psychological factors in men with CNSLBP.
Materials And Methods: This is a randomized controlled trial that involves individuals with CNSLBP between the ages of 40 and 60 years.
