Article Synopsis
  • A study investigated how changes in physical activity after an ischemic stroke (IS) affect the risk of having a subsequent myocardial infarction (MI) using data from over 224,000 patients in South Korea.
  • The research categorized participants based on their physical activity levels (non-exercisers, new exercisers, dropouts, and maintainers) and found that both new exercisers and maintainers had significantly lower MI risks compared to those who didn't exercise.
  • The findings suggest that promoting physical activity among stroke survivors could help lower their chances of experiencing a heart attack in the future.

: Large-to-massive rotator cuff tears (LMRCTs) present challenges in achieving successful repair due to factors such as muscle atrophy and tendon retraction. Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR) with reinforcement techniques like superior capsule reconstruction (SCR) or patch graft augmentation (PGA) has emerged as a less invasive option to improve shoulder joint stability and prevent retear. This study aimed to compare the clinical and radiological outcomes of SCR and PGA as reinforcement techniques for the arthroscopic repair of LMRCTs.

Article Synopsis
  • Cryoablation is a safe and effective treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF), but its outcomes may vary by body mass index (BMI) in patients, especially in Asians.
  • In a study involving 2,648 patients, underweight individuals had a higher recurrence rate of AF after treatment compared to those with a normal BMI, along with a greater risk of complications like transient phrenic nerve palsy.
  • These findings suggest that underweight patients require special attention during and after cryoablation due to increased risks of both AF recurrence and procedural complications.
