Background: Dengue fever (DF) is a mosquito-borne viral infection that has recently become a burden worldwide, particularly in low-income countries, such as Yemen. There have been no epidemiological studies on DF in recent years in Yemen. Therefore, based on secondary data, this study aimed to shed light on the epidemiology of DF in Yemen between 2020 and 2024.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a brain disorder that causes memory loss and behavioral and thinking problems. The symptoms of Alzheimer's are similar throughout its development stages, which makes it difficult to diagnose manually. Therefore, artificial intelligence (AI) techniques address the limitations of manual diagnosis.

This research investigates the dynamics of nonlinear coupled hybrid systems using a modified Mittag-Leffler fractional derivative. The primary objective is to establish criteria for the existence and uniqueness of solutions through the implementation of Dhage's hybrid fixed-point theorem. The study further analyzes the stability of the proposed model.

Angiogenesis is the formation of blood vessels from the existing vasculature, which is important in the tumor growth where the metastatic spread, of cancer cells depends on an adequate supply of oxygen and nutrients and the removal of waste products. Targeting angiogenesis has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy for cancer treatment. This study presents the synthesis and evaluation of a novel Ag-CeO-ZnO (AgCZ) nanocomposite designed to specifically inhibit angiogenesis for effective cancer therapy.

The fixed point theory has been generalized mainly in two directions. One is the extension of the spaces, and the other is relaxing and generalizing the contractions. This paper aims to establish novel fixed point results of rational type generalized -contractions in the context of extended b-metric spaces.

Antifungal susceptibility pattern of species isolated from pregnant women.

Front Cell Infect Microbiol

August 2024

Department of Physiology, School of Biomedical Sciences, Harbin Medical University, Harbin, Heilongjiang, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the prevalence and antifungal resistance of opportunistic yeast infections, specifically among pregnant women in Hajjah governorate, Yemen, finding a high prevalence rate of 61.4%.
  • Most cases were linked to certain factors, like age (71.9% in women aged 24-30), education level, trimester, and pregnancy history.
  • Significant resistance to common antifungal medications, including clotrimazole and itraconazole, was observed, highlighting the need for health education on vaginitis and tailored antifungal treatments.

Platinum-based catalysts that have long been used as the anodes for the formic acid electro-oxidation (FAO) in the direct formic acid fuel cells (DFAFCs) were susceptible to retrogradation in performance due to CO poisoning that impaired the technology transfer in industry. This work is designed to overcome this challenge by amending the Pt surface sequentially with nanosized cobalt (nano-CoOx, fibril texture of ca. 200 nm in particle size) and iron (nano-FeOx, nanorods of particle size and length of 80 and 253 nm, respectively) oxides.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is highly contagious and causes a series of health problems, particularly in Yemen, which has a fragile healthcare system and cannot handle public health emergencies.

Aims: This analysis aimed to determine the epidemiological status of COVID-19 in the Taiz governorate between April 2020 and December 2023.

Methods: A retrospective study based on surveillance data from the Taiz governorate was used.

The modification of Pt nanoparticles (nano-Pt, assembled electrochemically onto a glassy carbon (GC) substrate) with hybrid multivalent nickel (nano-NiO) and iron (nano-FeO) oxide nanostructures was intended to steer the mechanism of the formic acid electro-oxidation (FAO) in the desirable dehydrogenation pathway. This binary modification with inexpensive oxides succeeded in mediating the reaction mechanism of FAO by boosting reaction kinetics "electron transfer" and amending the surface geometry of the catalyst against poisoning. The sequence of deposition was optimized where the a-FeO/NiO/Pt/GC catalyst (where "a" denotes a post-activation step for the catalyst at -0.

This investigation is concerned with designing efficient catalysts for direct formic acid fuel cells. A ternary catalyst containing iron (nano-FeO) and nickel (nano-NiO) nanowire oxides assembled sequentially onto a bare platinum (bare-Pt) substrate was recommended for the formic acid electro-oxidation reaction (FAOR). While nano-NiO appeared as fibrillar nanowire bundles ( 82 nm and 4.

Cancer is considered one of the most aggressive and destructive diseases that shortens the average lives of patients. Misdiagnosed brain tumours lead to false medical intervention, which reduces patients' chance of survival. Accurate early medical diagnoses of brain tumour are an essential point for starting treatment plans that improve the survival of patients with brain tumours.

In March 2020, the World Health Organization announced the COVID-19 pandemic, its dangers, and its rapid spread throughout the world. In March 2021, the second wave of the pandemic began with a new strain of COVID-19, which was more dangerous for some countries, including India, recording 400,000 new cases daily and more than 4,000 deaths per day. This pandemic has overloaded the medical sector, especially radiology.

Feasibility of Using Boltzmann Plots to Evaluate the Stark Broadening Parameters of Cu(I) Lines.

Appl Spectrosc

October 2021

Laboratory of Laser and New Materials, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt.

A linear Boltzmann plot was constructed using Cu(I) lines of well-known atomic parameters. Aligning other spectral lines to the plot was adopted as a viable way to estimate the most probable values of Stark broadening parameters of Cu(I) lines at 330.79, 359.

In the literature of distributed database system (DDBS), several methods sought to meet the satisfactory reduction on transmission cost (TC) and were seen substantially effective. Data Fragmentation, site clustering, and data distribution have been considered the major leading TC-mitigating influencers. Sites clustering, on one hand, aims at grouping sites appropriately according to certain similarity metrics.

Detection and determination of stability of the antibiotic residues in cow's milk.

PLoS One

March 2020

Laboratory of Plant Healthcare and Diagnostics, Department of Studies in Biotechnology and Microbiology, Karnatak University, Dharwad, Karnataka, India.

In the present study, antibiotic residues were detected in milk samples collected from the dairy herds located in Karnataka, India, by microbiological assay. Subsequently, the detected antibiotics were identified as azithromycin and tetracycline, by high-performance liquid chromatography, further both the antibiotics detected in the cow milk samples were found to be at high concentration (9708.7 and 5460 μg kg-1, respectively).

Article Synopsis
  • The report summarizes the first entomological survey of sand flies in northwestern Yemen, focusing on the Hajjah governorate, a known area for cutaneous leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania tropica.
  • Six species of Phlebotomus and ten species of Sergentomyia were identified, with P. alexandri being the most common.
  • The study found high species diversity across various altitudes and suggested a potential transmission cycle involving P. arabicus as a vector and the rock hyrax as a reservoir for Leishmania tropica, while also discussing the vector competence of P. alexandri for visceral leishmaniasis.
