() is a Gram-positive bacterium and the main culprit behind zoonotic outbreaks, posing a serious threat to public health. The prevalent strains in China are mainly of sequence types (ST) 1 and 7, with few cases of human infections caused by other sequence type being reported. This study presents the first isolation of a ST25 strain from the blood of a septicemic patient.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a serious complication of diabetes featuring abnormal lipid metabolism. However, the specific lipid molecules associated with onset and progression remain unclear. We used a broad-targeted lipidomics approach to assess the lipid changes that occur before the proliferative retinopathy stage and to identify novel lipid biomarkers to distinguish between patients without DR (NDR) and with non-proliferative DR (NPDR).

The inflammatory corpuscle recombinant absents in melanoma 2 (AIM2) and cholesterol efflux protein ATP binding cassette transporter A1(ABCA1) have been reported to play opposing roles in atherosclerosis (AS) plaques. However, the relationship between AIM2 and ABCA1 remains unclear. In this study, we explored the potential connection between AIM2 and ABCA1 in the modulation of AS by bioinformatic analysis combined with in vitro experiments.

Background: Hepatic Ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury, critical challenge in liver surgery and transplantation, exerts a significant impact on the prognosis and survival of patients. Inflammation and cell death play pivotal roles in pathogenesis of hepatic I/R injury. Indoleamine 2, 3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO-1), a key enzyme involved in the kynurenine pathway, has been extensively investigated for its regulatory effects on innate immune responses and cell ferroptosis.

Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disease that leads to dementia and poses a serious threat to the health of the elderly. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) presents as a promising novel therapeutic therapy for preventing and treating dementia. Studies have shown that natural products derived from kidney-tonifying herbs can effectively inhibit AD.

The gut microbiome plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, the inconvenience of obtaining fecal samples hinders the clinical application of gut microbiome analysis. In this study, we hypothesized that tongue coating color is associated with the severity of T2DM.

Background: Atherosclerosis (AS) is a critical pathological event during the progression of cardiovascular diseases. It exhibits fibrofatty lesions on the arterial wall and lacks effective treatment. N-methyladenosine (mA) is the most common modification of eukaryotic RNA and plays an important role in regulating the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases.

Background: Chronic bronchitis (CB) is a common clinical chronic respiratory disease, which has a high incidence in the middle aged and elderly population. With the development of the disease, the number of acute attacks becomes more and more frequent, which leads to the continuous decrease of lung function. If not treated in time, it will lead to a variety of complications and seriously affect the quality of life of patients.

Objective: To investigate the role of Hsa-miR-148a-3p in regulating biological behaviors of breast cancer cells and explore the mechanism.
Methods: TCGA database was used to identify the differential miRNAs and mRNAs in breast cancer, and the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed using String and Cytoscape to screen the top 10 hub genes and construct the miRNA-TOP10hub network. RT-qPCR was used to detect the expressions of Hsa-miR-148a-3p and DUSP1 in breast cancer tissues and cell lines.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative disorder with no effective cure. Targeting endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress pathway may offer a novel approach to ameliorate cognitive deficits in AD. Bushen-Yizhi formula (BSYZ), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) prescription, has shown potential benefits for AD.

Emerging evidence has proved that inflammatory responses aggravate the pathological progression of Parkinson's disease. This study aimed to identify the role of Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase-M (IRAK-M) as an important negative regulator of innate immunity, in the pathological progression of Parkinson's disease. In the present study, a 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) injection was administered to prepare the acute and sub-acute Parkinson's disease mouse models.

Despite the massive investment in Alzheimer's disease (AD), there are still no disease-modifying treatments (DMTs) for AD. One major reason is attributed to the limitation of clinical "one-size-fits-all" approach, since the same AD treatment solely based on clinical diagnosis was unlikely to achieve good clinical efficacy. In recent years, computational approaches based on multiomics data have provided an unprecedented opportunity for drug discovery since they can substantially lower the costs and boost the efficiency.

Blood‑brain barrier (BBB) damage is one of the main causes of poor outcomes and increased mortality rates following cerebral ischemia‑reperfusion injury. Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) and its mimetic peptide have been previously reported to exhibit potent neuroprotective properties in various central nervous system disease models. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the possible role of the ApoE mimetic peptide COG1410 in cerebral ischemia‑reperfusion injury and its potential underlying mechanism.

Background: As the prognosis of early gastric cancer (EGC) is significantly better than that of advanced gastric cancer (AGC), the development of biomarkers to monitor the progression of chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) to gastric cancer (GC) is essential.
Methods: Stomach tissue miRNA and mRNA sequences from patients with chronic non-atrophic gastritis (CNAG), CAG, precancerous lesions of gastric cancer (PLGC), and GC were analyzed. A publicly available GC-related miRNA microarray dataset was obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus database.

Objective: Based on a retrospective cohort study, to investigate the value of rivaroxaban combined with ticagrelor in antithrombotic therapy after PCI in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation with acute coronary syndrome.
Methods: A total of 60 patients from January 2019 to May 2021 accepted therapy with antithrombotic therapy after PCI. The patients treated with ticagrelor were set as the control group, and those given rivaroxaban combined with ticagrelor were set as the research group.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a chronic liver disease with high incidence and is closely related to metabolic syndrome. If not controlled, it may eventually become hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Ferroptosis, a non-apoptotic form of programmed cell death (PCD), is closely related to NAFLD and HCC, and the mechanisms of action involved are more complex.

Accumulating evidence indicates that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) contribute to myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. However, the underlying mechanisms by which lncRNAs modulate myocardial I/R injury have not been thoroughly examined and require further investigation. A novel lncRNA named lncRNA-hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R)-associated transcript (lncRNA-HRAT) was identified by RNA sequencing analysis.

Background And Aims: Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) still carries a high risk for a sustained decrease in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) even with the optimal medical therapy. Currently, there is no effective tool to stratify these patients according to their recovery potential. We tested the hypothesis that uric acid (UA) could predict recovery of LVEF and prognosis of HFrEF patients and attempted to explore mechanistic relationship between hyperuricemia and HFrEF.
