Comparison between minimally invasive surgery and open surgery in managing localized adrenocortical carcinoma treatment: A retrospective propensity-matched study.

Background: It was controversial to use open surgery or minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the impact on prognosis between MIS and open surgery in patients with clinical stage I-II ACC.

Methods: Patients with stage I-II ACC from December 2000 to October 2022 were retrospectively studied.

To investigate the short-term effectiveness and safety of sublingual allergen immunotherapy with allergen sprays (SLIT-sprays) in Chinese patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) with or without asthma using real-world data. The retrospective cohort study included 100 patients who received SLIT-sprays in the ENT departments in Hainan Shulan (Boao) Hospital and Boao Super Hospital between October 2023 and August 2024. A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect clinical data on the effectiveness and safety of SLIT-sprays, examining the types and incidence of adverse events (AEs) during treatment, treatments after the occurrence of AEs, and changes in Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores before and after SLIT-sprays.

A case of right fronto-parietal gliosarcoma.

Gliosarcoma (GS) is a rare subtype of glioblastoma multiforme, characterized by a shorter clinical course and poorer prognosis compared to glioblastoma. Here, we report the case of a 50-year-old male patient who presented with episodic loss of consciousness and left-sided limb weakness for one month. MRI revealed a complex neoplastic lesion in the right fronto-parietal region.

Trends and age-period-cohort effect on incidence of brucellosis from 2006 to 2020 in China.

Brucellosis remains a major public health challenge in China and globally. This study analyzed long-term trends in brucellosis incidence in China from 2006 to 2020, assessed the effects of age, period, and birth cohort, and projected future incidence up to 2030. Data on brucellosis were obtained from the Data-center of China Public Health Science, and temporal trends in incidence rates were analyzed using joinpoint regression, while an age-period-cohort model evaluated the effects of age, period, and cohort.

In this study, we designed and synthesized a total of 33 β-nitrostyrene derivatives using 1-nitro-2-phenylethane (NPe) as the lead compound, to target the facultative anaerobic bacterial pathogen . The QS-inhibitory effects of these compounds were evaluated using NJ01 and the reporter strain CV026.

A case of primary malignant melanoma of the esophagus.

Primary malignant melanoma of the esophagus (PMME) is an extremely rare esophageal malignancy that is often misdiagnosed or overlooked due to its atypical symptoms. We report a case of a 75-year-old male patient who presented with progressive dysphagia. Endoscopic examination revealed a black mass located 25 cm from the incisors.

Methods: We collected data on confirmed cases of hepatitis E in Hainan residents admitted to the four major tertiary hospitals in Haikou City from January 2013 to December 2022. We used SPSS software to analyze the correlation between incidence rate and economy, population density and geographical location, and origin software to draw a scatter chart and SAS 9.

A case report of Extra-neurologic metastasis of ventricular meningioma with literature review.

Ventricular meningiomas are neoplastic cells originating from the ependymal lining of the central canal of the spinal cord and the ventricles of the brain. These tumorigenic cells predominantly manifest in the fourth ventricle, followed by the spinal cord. Purpose: Our team identified a new cardiac glycoside, Toxicarioside H (ToxH), in a tropical plant. Previous research has indicated the potential of cardenolides in mitigating inflammation, particularly in the context of NETosis. Therefore, this study sought to examine the potential of ToxH in attenuating allergic airway inflammation by influencing the immune microenvironment.

Aims: Penicilazaphilone C (PAC) is hypothesized to potentially serve as a therapeutic treatment for allergic airway inflammation by inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome and reducing oxidative stress.

Methods: An allergic asthma model was induced in female BALB/c mice of the OVA, OVA+PAC, OVA+PAC+LPS, and OVA+Dex groups by sensitizing and subsequently challenging them with OVA. The OVA+PAC and Normal+PAC groups were treated with PAC, while the OVA+PAC+LPS group also received LPS.

3D printing of Ceffe-infused scaffolds for tailored nipple-like cartilage development.

The reconstruction of a stable, nipple-shaped cartilage graft that precisely matches the natural nipple in shape and size on the contralateral side is a clinical challenge. While 3D printing technology can efficiently and accurately manufacture customized complex structures, it faces limitations due to inadequate blood supply, which hampers the stability of nipple-shaped cartilage grafts produced using this technology. To address this issue, we employed a biodegradable biomaterial, Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), loaded with Cell-Free Fat Extract (Ceffe).

Background: The senescence of endothelial cells is of great importance involving in atherosclerosis (AS) development. Recent studies have proved the protective role of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles in AS, herein, we further desired to unvei their potential regulatory mechanisms in endothelial cell senescence.

Methods: Senescence induced by HO in primary mouse aortic endothelial cells (MAECs) was evaluated by SA-β-gal staining.

Objective: Portal hypertension leads to hepatic artery dilatation and a higher risk of bleeding. We tried to identify the bleeding risk after gastroesophageal varices (GOV) treatment using hepatic artery diameter of contrast-enhanced CT.

Methods: Retrospective retrieval of 258 patients with cirrhosis who underwent contrast-enhanced CT from January 2022 to May 2023 and endoscopy within one month thereafter at Hainan Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University.
