The study focused on the role of mitophagy in neonatal ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI). Immunoassays were used to study the TLR9 signaling pathway of neonatal VILI, expected to provide a feasible solution for neonatal VILI. The mice were randomly divided into four groups, group A: spontaneous breathing group; group B: normal tidal volume (VT) group (VT=9mL/kg); group C: high VT group (VT=39mL/kg); and group D: ODN2088 (400μg/ Only) intervention + high VT group.

Background: Previous studies evaluating the influences of maternal fish oil supplementation on the risk of asthma or wheeze in children showed inconsistent results. We performed a meta-analysis or randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to systematically evaluate the efficacy of maternal fish oil supplementation for asthma or wheeze.

Methods: Relevant RCTs were obtained by search of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane's Library databases.

The study of routine laboratory factors in children with mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia: serum uric acid may have anti-inflammatory effect.

J Clin Lab Anal

November 2021

Department of Endocrinology & Metabolism, School of Medicine, Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital, Tongji University, Shanghai, China.

Background: High uric acid levels are a risk factor for cardiovascular disorders, and metabolic diseases; however, the role of serum uric acid (sUA) during the mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) of children is poorly known. This study aimed to clarify the effects of sUA during the MPP of children.

Methods: This was a prospective cohort study of children with MPP from multi-center inpatient departments from September 2019 to August 2020.

Interferon-inducible protein, IFIX, has tumor-suppressive effects in oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Sci Rep

October 2021

Department of Oral Medicine, Jining Medical College, Jining, 272067, People's Republic of China.

IFIX, a newly discovered member of the interferon-inducible HIN-200 family, has been identified as a tumor suppressor in breast cancer; however, the involvement of IFIX in oral cancer are poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate a relationship between the level of IFIX expression and the invasive or migratory abilities of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Higher IFIX expression significantly correlated with clinicopathological parameters such as the histopathological grade of clinical samples.

Objective: Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) taurine upregulated gene 1 (TUG1) is increased under the condition of ischemia. This study intended to identify the mechanism of TUG1 in renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R).

Methods: First, a rat model of acute renal injury induced by I/R was established, followed by the measurement of blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatine (SCr), methylenedioxyphetamine (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the serum of rats.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune-mediated diffuse connective tissue disease characterized by immune inflammation with an unclear aetiology and pathogenesis. This work profiled the intestinal flora and faecal metabolome of patients with SLE using 16S RNA sequencing and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). We identified unchanged alpha diversity and partially altered beta diversity of the intestinal flora.

Article Synopsis
  • Turcz. is a perennial herb from the Papaveraceae family, and its chloroplast genome has been sequenced and studied.
  • The chloroplast genome is 167,629 base pairs long with a GC content of 36.52%, containing 144 identified genes (79 protein-coding, 31 tRNAs, and 4 rRNAs).
  • A phylogenetic analysis showed that Turcz. is classified under Corydaleae and is closely related to another unspecified species.

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) play a key role in the initiation and amplification of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)-associated vascular injury. In this study, we found that dsDNA induced dose- and time-dependent increase in IFN-α and Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7), TLR9 and IRF7 expression in pDCs. Co-cultured circulating endothelial cells (ECs) with activated pDCs significantly decreased proliferation, tube formation and migration in ECs.

Influences of fish oil supplementation on body weight and other cardiometabolic factors in overweight or obese children and adolescents remain not fully understood. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate the role of fish oil for these children. Relevant studies were obtained by search of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane's Library databases.

Overcoming senescence is a feature of ovarian cancer cells; however, the mechanisms underlying senescence regulation in ovarian cancer cells remain largely unknown. In this study, we found that ITPKA was downregulated in ovarian cancer samples, and the lower expression correlated with poor survival. Overexpression of ITPKA inhibited the anchorage-independent growth of ovarian cancer cells and induced senescence.

The objectives of this work were to test the levels of serum medium- and long- chain fatty acids (MLCFAs) in children and to discover their possible relationship with Henoch-Schönlein Purpura (HSP), also known as Immunoglobulin A vasculitis. A total of 57 children with HSP (HSP group) and 28 healthy children (CON group) were recruited for this study. Serum specimens were collected to detect the compositions and contents of MLCFAs by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis.
