Chronic wound infection has become a global health problem, with bacterial biofilms, which are difficult to penetrate using traditional antibiotics, considered the primary cause of recurrent infection and delayed healing in chronic wounds. In recent years, the outstanding performance of nanomaterials in controlling biofilm infections has been widely acknowledged, and these materials are regarded as highly promising for chronic wound infection management. The formation and structure of chronic wound biofilms undergo complex dynamic changes.

Predicting prognosis in lung cancer patients is important in establishing future treatment and monitoring plans. Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most common and aggressive type of lung cancer with dismal prognosis and prognostic stratification would help to guide treatment. Aberrant DNA methylation in tumors occurs earlier than clinical variations, and keeps accumulating as cancer progresses.

Infiltrated and activated M1 macrophages play a role in kidney injury and fibrosis during chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression. However, the specific ways that M1 macrophage polarization contributes to renal fibrosis are not fully understood. The study seeks to investigate how miR-92a-3p regulates M1 macrophage polarization and its connection to renal fibrosis in the development of CKD.

Transglutaminase 2 (TG2) is a widely distributed multifunctional protein with various enzymatic and non-enzymatic activities. It is becoming increasingly evident that high levels of TG2 in tumors induce the occurrence of epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) and the acquisition of stem cell-like phenotypes, promoting tumor metastasis and drug resistance. By regulating intracellular and extracellular signaling pathways, TG2 promotes breast cancer metastasis to lung, brain, liver and bone, as well as resistance to various chemotherapy drugs including docetaxel, doxorubicin, platinum and neratinib.

Background: Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is a relatively rare form of tuberculosis infection, accounting for approximately 15% of all tuberculosis infections. Lymph nodes are the most commonly affected sites, while involvement of the parotid gland is extremely rare.
Case Presentation: We present the case of a 65-year-old male patient with a one-month history of a left parotid mass.

Aim: To understand the role adaptation process of nurses caring for older adult patients with terminal diseases in Chinese geriatric hospitals.
Background: The Chinese government has been encouraging the conversion of secondary general hospitals and some tertiary hospitals into specialized geriatric hospitals; however, research on nurses' adaptation to caring for older adult patients with terminal diseases in these hospitals is lacking.
Methods: Individual in-depth interviews were conducted with 13 registered nurses with a minimum of two years of experience caring for older adults with terminal diseases.

Background: Puerarin (Pue) is an isoflavone compound with significant therapeutic effect on cardiovascular diseases, but its poor water solubility and low oral bioavailability limit clinical application.
Methods: In this study, Pue was prepared into PLGA nanoparticles (Pue-PLGA NPs) by emulsion solvent volatilization method. The morphology, particle size, Zeta potential, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and fourier transform infrared (FTIR) of the NPs were characterized.

Background And Purpose: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common and progressive disease that is influenced by both genetic and environmental factors, and genetic factors are important determinants of COPD. This study focuses on screening the best predictive models for assessing COPD-associated SNPs and then using the best models to predict potential risk factors for COPD.
Methods: Healthy subjects (n=290) and COPD patients (n=233) were included in this study, the Agena MassARRAY platform was applied to genotype the subjects for SNPs.

Pyroptosis plays a pivotal role in airway epithelial inflammation during the progression of asthma. This study aimed to explore the influence and mechanisms of opa-interacting protein 5 antisense RNA1 (OIP5-AS1) and growth arrest-specific transcript 5 (GAS5) on pyroptosis in asthmatic models. Pyroptosis was induced in Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus 1 (Der p1)-exposed 16HBE cells and ovalbumin (OVA)-challenged rats.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is characterized by frequent intrahepatic and distant metastases, resulting in a poor prognosis for patients. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) plays a pivotal role in this process. However, the expression of NOP2/Sun RNA methyltransferase 5 (NSUN5) in HCC and its role in mediating EMT remain poorly understood.

Efficient clearance of hematomas is crucial for improving clinical outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The glymphatic system, facilitated by aquaporin-4 (AQP4), plays a crucial role in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) entry and metabolic waste clearance. This study examined the role of the glymphatic system in ICH pathology, with a focus on AQP4.
