Front Aging Neurosci

September 2024

Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, The Affiliated Haikou Hospital of Xiangya Medical College, Central South University, Haikou, Hainan, China.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated the effects of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy on cognitive deficits and the autophagic pathway in mice with Alzheimer's disease, focusing on the comparison of two different mouse groups receiving treatment.
  • - Results showed that HBO therapy improved behavior in treated mice, evidenced by decreased escape latency and increased time spent in target areas during a maze test, alongside changes in amyloid-beta and autophagy markers in brain tissues.
  • - Mice receiving HBO therapy had lower levels of harmful amyloid-beta and higher autophagy-related proteins, indicating a potential beneficial effect of HBO in modifying disease processes related to Alzheimer's.

Gestational diabetes (GD) is a condition characterized by elevated blood sugar levels during pregnancy. GD poses various health risks, such as serious birth injuries, the need for cesarean delivery, and the necessity of newborn care. Monitoring glucose levels is essential for ensuring safe delivery and reducing the risks to both the mother and fetus.

A series of studies have confirmed the relationship between circular RNAs (circRNAs) and metabolic diseases. Hsa_circ_0006260 has been reported to be lowly expressed in the placenta of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) patients, but the underlying mechanism and its biological functions remain obscure. Placental tissues were collected from 37 pregnant women with normal glucose tolerance (NGT) and 37 pregnant women with GDM.

The Amount of Fluid Intake among Pregnant Women in China Increases with Pregnancy Progression: A Prospective Cohort Study.

Nutrients

November 2023

Department of Nutrition and Food Hygiene, School of Public Health, Peking University, 38 Xue Yuan Road, Haidian District, Beijing 100191, China.

Fluid intake and hydration status during pregnancy may have influences on maternal and infant health. However, few studies have recorded and analyzed total fluid intake (TFI) levels during the whole pregnancy. This study mainly aimed to investigate the TFI levels of pregnant women in three trimesters, and further to assess their hydration status.
