Pediatric chronic pain is common and frequently results in reduced wellbeing and functioning. Limited knowledge among health care professionals has motivated a national care program for pediatric chronic pain to increase the standard of care for this group. Emphasizing a biopsychosocial approach, treatment should focus on self-management of pain and distress to increase resilience, functioning and wellbeing.

Prokinetic agents in adult intensive care unit patients (PATIENCE)-An international inception cohort study protocol.

Background: Feeding intolerance is common in critically ill patients and can lead to malnutrition. Prokinetic agents may be used to enhance the uptake of nutrition. However, the evidence on the effectiveness and safety of prokinetic agents is sparse, and there is a lack of data on their use in intensive care units (ICU).

Effectiveness of combinations of active compression-decompression cardiopulmonary resuscitation, impedance threshold devices and head-up cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adult out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A systematic review.

Objective: This review summarises the current evidence base for combinations of neuroprotective CPR adjuncts (active compression-decompression chest compressions, impedance threshold devices, and head-up positioning) during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Methods: A systematic search (PROSPERO registration CRD42023432302) was performed in English on MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library in August 2023, and repeated in February 2024. All randomised and observational studies (not abstracts) reporting on any combination of the aforementioned CPR adjuncts were included.

A New Approach to Breast Specimen Orientation: Avoiding Pitfalls with the Specimen Plate Concept.

Accurate specimen marking is crucial during breast cancer surgery to avoid misorientation, which can lead to inadequate re-excision and tumor recurrence. We studied the marking methods at various breast cancer centers to create a tool that would prevent specimen misorientation. An online questionnaire was used to survey marking procedures at major breast cancer centers in Hungary, and a tool was developed using a troubleshooting method.

Background: Patients surgically treated for lumbar spinal stenosis or cervical radiculopathy report improvement in approximately two out of three cases. Advancements in Machine Learning and the utility of large datasets have enabled the development of prognostic prediction models within spine surgery. This trial investigates if the use of the postoperative outcome prediction model, the Dialogue Support, can alter patient-reported outcome and satisfaction compared to current practice.

Consequently it is crucial for endoscopists, general practitioners, surgeons and neurologists to be well-versed with indications, contraindications and potential complications of PEG and other enteral feeding tubes. In this context we present a concise overview of the new national guidelines by the Swedish Society of Gastroenterology regarding the management of PEG and other enteral feeding tubes.

Androgen receptor pathway inhibitors and taxanes in metastatic prostate cancer: an outcome-adaptive randomized platform trial.

ProBio is the first outcome-adaptive platform trial in prostate cancer utilizing a Bayesian framework to evaluate efficacy within predefined biomarker signatures across systemic treatments. Prospective circulating tumor DNA and germline DNA analysis was performed in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer before randomization to androgen receptor pathway inhibitors (ARPIs), taxanes or a physician's choice control arm. Osteopontin: A novel marker of pre-symptomatic sporadic Alzheimer's disease.

Introduction: We investigate the role of osteopontin (OPN) in participants with Pre-symptomatic Alzheimer's disease (AD), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and in AD brains.

Methods: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) OPN, AD, and synaptic biomarker levels were measured in 109 cognitively unimpaired (CU), parental-history positive Pre-symptomatic Evaluation of Experimental or Novel Treatments for Alzheimer's Disease (PREVENT-AD) participants, and in 167 CU and 399 participants with MCI from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) cohort. OPN levels were examined as a function of amyloid beta (Aβ) and tau positivity.

The Swedish Perioperative Register (SPOR) - a national quality register - supports automatic data transfer from local medical records to its central database, without the need for further manual input. Covering 100 percent of surgical operations across all publicly run hospitals in Sweden, SPOR data show regional inequality regarding patients' waiting time from the decision to operate until the start of surgery. SPOR data can inform several areas of improvement for perioperative care, such as management of postoperative pain and nausea, increased use of the Checklist for Safe Surgery, and improved logistics.

Decisions to withdraw life sustaining treatment in the ICU are common, but there is little information about how treatment should be withdrawn. A pilot study showed that doctors withdraw life sustaining treatment in different ways even in identical cases. This variation can cause stress for ICU staff and relatives.

[Saksenaea caused invasive infection in an immunocompetent patient after trauma].

This text discusses a rare case of soft tissue infection caused by the fungus Saksenaea in a young, immunocompetent woman following an all-terrain vehicle accident abroad. Despite initial treatment, her wound worsened, necessitating multiple surgical revisions and aggressive antifungal therapy with liposomal Amphotericin B. The interdisciplinary collaboration among orthopedic surgeons, infectious disease specialists, and plastic surgeons played a vital role in her successful treatment.

Hypogammaglobulinaemia during rituximab treatment in multiple sclerosis: A Swedish cohort study.

Background And Purpose: Mechanisms behind hypogammaglobulinaemia during rituximab treatment are poorly understood.

Methods: In this register-based multi-centre retrospective cohort study of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients in Sweden, 2745 patients from six participating Swedish MS centres were identified via the Swedish MS registry and included between 14 March 2008 and 25 January 2021. The exposure was treatment with at least one dose of rituximab for MS or clinically isolated syndrome, including data on treatment duration and doses.
