The present study was undertaken to examine the relationship between the level of the intensity of the ultrasonic signal reflected from atherosclerotic plaques (ATP) of carotid arteries and the risk for formation of an ischaemic lesion in the brain matter, detected during diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DW-MRI) performed 24 hours after carotid endarterectomy (CEA) or carotid angioplasty and stenting (CAS). Our prospective study included a total of 78 patients presenting with stenosis of the sinus of the interior carotid artery. Of these, 42 patients were subjected to CEA and 36 subjects endured CAS.

During the last 10 years, several novel direct oral anticoagulants (NOACs) have entered the clinical arena and were registered in the Russian Federation for use in patients presenting with atrial fibrillation, venous thrombosis, and pulmonary artery thromboembolism. NOACs are classified into two groups: direct thrombin inhibitor (notably dabigatran) and factor Xa inhibitors (including rivaroxaban, apixaban, and edoxaban). Their disadvantage is lack of specific antidotes in case of an emergency situation (injury, infarction, stroke requiring thrombolysis, urgent operation).

Introduction/background: Development of neutralizing inhibitors against factor VIII (FVIII) is a major complication of haemophilia A treatment.
Aim: The ongoing, international, open-label, uncontrolled, observational immune tolerance induction (ObsITI) study evaluates ITI, the standard of care in patients with inhibitors.
Patients/methods: Forty-eight prospective patients in this interim analysis received a single plasma-derived, von Willebrand factor-stabilized, FVIII concentrate (pdFVIII/VWF) for ITI.
In order to choose the proper method for evaluating the antithrombin activity in samples of chitosan polysulphate (CP) with different polymerization degrees and sulphation degrees, we estimated the ability of direct anticoagulants to depress the coagulability of recalcified sheep blood using the third international heparin standard (A1 - in vitro system) and determined such activity on pharmacodynamic curve (A2 - in vivo system). The curve admits the kinetics of CP elimination to be nonlinear in case of intravenous injection to rabbits, as it is observed in heparin: Ct = C(o)exp(-K(e)lt), where Ct is the CP concentration at the time moment t; C(o) is the CP concentration at the injection moment; Kel is the elimination constant. Besides, it is assumed that there is a linear approximation of the anticoagulant effect on the dose, which finally makes it possible to calculate the specific activity A2: T = KTCt+T(in), where T is the time of clot formation at different time intervals after CP injection; T(in) is the time of clot formation prior to CP injection.

The problem of proper diagnosis, patient's status and disease progression is very actual for autoimmune diseases. Still the diagnosis of Sjogren's syndrome is more state of art than of science. Our preliminary investigations showed that serum fibronectin of elevated molecular weight may be probably considered as one of the diagnostic criteria in Sjogren's syndrome patients.

The changes in conductivity of skeletal muscle vessels of the hind leg and tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) activity in outflowing blood after electrostimulation (5 V, 0.5 ms, 20 Hz, 30 s) at the L4-L5 level of the peripheral end of the transected isolated sympathetic chain were studied in experiments on anaesthetized cats. Stimulation of the sympathetic chain induced vasoconstriction and release of t-PA from the vascular wall into the blood.
