We previously showed that the colorectal cancer colonizing bacterium protects tumors from immune cell attack via binding of the fusbacterial Fap2 outer-membrane protein to TIGIT, a checkpoint inhibitory receptor expressed on T cells and NK cells. , the causative agent for peptic ulcer disease, is associated with the development of gastric adenocarcinoma and MALT lymphoma. The HopQ outer-membrane adhesin of was recently shown to bind carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecules (CEACAMs) including CEACAM1, an inhibitory receptor expressed mainly by activated T and NK cells.

This paper demonstrates how the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD) arose from small beginnings in 1967. What started as an International Forum on Child Dental Health in London grew to become first the International Association of Dentistry for Children and then the outstanding IAPD with biennial Congresses, regional meetings, cooperation with other children's organizations, Teach the Teachers programmes, a wonderful website, and this International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry. There are now 70 national member societies worldwide representing over 16 000 members with a single interest: to further the oral health care of children.

In the oral cavity, it can ferment dietary sugars, produce organic acids and therefore has a role in caries development. In this study, we examined whether the polyphenol rich extractions Polyphenon from green tea (PPFGT) and Padma Hepaten (PH) can inhibit the caries-inducing properties of .

The AAPD has stated that the clinical practice of pediatric dentistry has to be driven by science and evidence-based dentistry (EBD). However, our specialty must recognize the need for both EBD and age proven clinical experience. An amalgam of art and science is required, each respecting the other's important contribution and recognizing that neither alone is as good as the whole.

Sleep and pain share a bidirectional relationship. Therefore, it is important for practitioners managing patients experiencing either sleep and/or pain issues to recognize and understand this complex association from a neurobiological perspective involving neuroanatomic and neurochemical processes. Accounting for the influence of pain on the various aspects of sleep and understanding its impact on various orofacial pain disorders assists in developing a prudent management approach.

About half of individuals diagnosed with medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) are multiple myeloma (MM) patients, and most are treated using antibiotics for long-term courses. The penicillin group is recommended as the empiric drug of choice, and quinolones, metronidazole, clindamycin, doxycycline, and erythromycin as alternatives. This paper suggests the macrolide clarithromycin as the empiric antibiotic therapy of MRONJ in MM patients because of its better pharmacologic properties in comparison to erythromycin, and the beneficial effect of this agent in MM.

The deteriorating effectiveness of antibiotics is propelling researchers worldwide towards alternative techniques such as phage therapy: curing infectious diseases using viruses of bacteria called bacteriophages. In a previous paper, we isolated phage EFDG1, highly effective against both planktonic and biofilm cultures of one of the most challenging pathogenic species, the vancomycin-resistant (VRE). Thus, it is a promising phage to be used in phage therapy.
