The efficacy and safety of trifluridine/tipiracil (FTD/TPI) for third-line treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer have been demonstrated. The authors present the Turkish analysis of the PRECONNECT study. An international, multicenter, single-arm, open-label, phase IIIb trial evaluating FTD/TPI in patients with ≥2 previous lines of chemotherapy for metastatic colorectal cancer was conducted.

In combination with standard clinicopathological features, Immunoscore informs adjuvant chemotherapy decision-making for patients with early-stage colon cancer. Immunoscore has been validated in patients with stage II/III colon cancer and demonstrated to be a stronger prognostic factor for survival than tumor node metastasis staging alone.

Gastric cancer (GC) is the fifth most common cancer worldwide. Despite recent improvements in treatment quality and options, advanced gastric cancer remains one of the hardest to cure cancers, with a median overall survival (OS) of 10-12 months and a 5-year OS of approximately 5-20%. There is an unmet need for further efforts to palliate disease-related symptoms, improve quality of life, increase tumor response rate, and prolong progression free and overall survival while balancing the toxicities of therapy.

Background: Liver reserve affects survival in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) score is used to predict overall survival (OS) and to prioritize HCC patients on the transplantation waiting list, but more accurate models are needed. We hypothesized that integrating insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels into MELD score (MELD-IGF-1) improves OS prediction as compared to MELD.

Methods: We surveyed one key stakeholder from each of 27 countries with expertise in survivorship care on questions including the components/structure of follow-up care, delivery of treatment summaries and survivorship care plans, and involvement of primary care in survivorship. Descriptive analyses were performed to characterize results across countries and variations between the WHO income categories (low, middle, high).

Purpose: Awareness of advances in the nutritional aspects of cancer care and translation of this information into clinical practice are important for oncology practitioners to effectively couple oncologic and nutritional approaches throughout the cancer journey. The goal of this consensus statement by a panel of medical oncologists was to provide practical and implementable guidance addressing nutritional aspects of cancer care from the perspective of the medical oncologist.
Methods: A panel of medical oncologists agreed on a series of statements supported by scientific evidence and expert clinical opinion.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common type of kidney malignancy, and the clear-cell subtype represents the majority of RCCs. RCC is a heterogeneous disease in terms of genetic and histological features which determine the behavior of the disease. The () is a tumor suppressor gene and mutations of this gene are seen in 95% of clear-cell RCCs.

Because of the rapid response to crizotinib, patients with ALK-positive locally advanced disease may become resectable with the use of neoadjuvant crizotinib. A 41-year-old never-smoking man who presented with asthma attack was found to have a suspicious lesion on chest X-ray after. Pathological examination was consistent with ALK(+), the signet-ring cell adenocarcinoma.

Biosimilar filgrastim (Leucostim) was shown to be similar in terms of efficacy and safety in hematopoietic progenitor cell mobilization (HPCM) compared to originator filgrastim (Neupogen) and lenograstim (Granocyte) in healthy donors and chemomobilization settings. Here we report our retrospective experience with Leucostim (n: 43) compared to Neupogen (n: 71) and Granocyte (n: 32) in steady-state mobilization of patients presenting with Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma and multiple myeloma. The median age of patients on Leucostim (56) arm was significantly higher compared to patients who received Neupogen (50) and Granocyte (49) (p: 0.

Introduction: Poly(ADP-Ribose) polymerases (PARPs) are one of the important components of base excision repair pathway for single strand DNA breaks. Currently accepted hypothesis for the mechanism of action for PARP inhibitors in tumors with homologous recombination deficiency is synthetic lethality, as the simultaneous blockage of both pathways prevents the tumor cells from repairing DNA damage. Other proposed mechanisms include PARP trapping, defective BRCA1 and POLQ recruitment to sites of DNA repair.

The VEGF- (bevacizumab) and EGFR- (cetuximab and panitumumab) targeting monoclonal antibodies have become integral components of the first-line treatment strategies for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Increasingly combination chemotherapy, with or without a targeted agent, is being used to facilitate curative liver resection and improve survival rates in patients with initially unresectable but potentially resectable mCRC. Currently, the only selective marker for the treatment of patients with mCRC is tumor RAS mutational status.

Background: As a consequence of the improved survival due to the availability of several treatment option cost-effectiveness and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) issues have gained increasing attention in colorectal cancer (CRC). In the present study, we aimed to evaluate quality of life, level of anxiety and depression before and after a 6-month follow-up period in chemotherapy receiving patients with CRC.

Somatostatin is a neuropeptide produced by paracrine cells that are located throughout the gastrointestinal tract, lung, and pancreas, and is also found in various locations of the nervous system. It exerts neural control over many physiological functions including inhibition of gastrointestinal endocrine secretion through its receptors. Potent and biologically stable analogs of somatostatin have been developed.
