Biomaterial-associated infections are a major cause of biomaterial implant failure. To prevent the initial attachment of bacteria to the implant surface, researchers have investigated various surface modification methods. However, most of these approaches also prevent the attachment, spread, and growth of mammalian cells, resulting in tissue integration failure.

Unlabelled: Sirolimus is an immunosuppressive drug used to prevent graft rejection. Therapeutic drug monitoring is required as with other immunosuppressive drugs. Previous studies have shown the interactions between sirolimus and drugs that affect the activity of cytochrome P450 3A4 and P-glycoprotein.

Comparative Proteomic Analysis of Under Ofloxacin Stress.

Turk J Pharm Sci

April 2021

Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Ankara, Turkey

Objectives: In the present study, proteomics was utilized to evaluate changes in proteins in response to ofloxacin to understand the mechanism of action of ofloxacin and the mechanisms of ofloxacin resistance in

Materials And Methods: Proteomics analysis of was performed by using liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry followed by a data processing step using MaxQuant. Functional classification and pathway analysis showed a systematic effect of ofloxacin over proteome structure.

Results: In total, 649 common proteins were identified in the untreated and ofloxacin-treated groups, while 98 proteins were significantly different in the ofloxacin-treated group.

Inspired by the structures of donepezil and rivastigmine, a novel series of indanone-carbamate hybrids was synthesized using the pharmacophore hybridization-based design strategy, and their biological activities toward acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase were evaluated. Among the synthesized compounds, 4d and 4b showed the highest AChE inhibitory activities with IC values in the micromolar range (compound 4d: IC  = 3.04 μM; compound 4b: IC  = 4.

Aim: Poor adherence with dementia medications is common among patients and caregivers, owing to the absence of perceived effect, polypharmacy, and adverse effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of clinical pharmacists' interventions on the adherence to dementia treatment and the caregivers' knowledge of dementia.

Methods: This study was conducted at a geriatric outpatient clinic of the university hospital between October 2018 and April 2019.

Comet assay, applied to in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo systems, is a quick, simple, and sensitive method for the detection of genotoxicity. In general, fresh whole blood or peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) are used in the assay for the determination of DNA damage and repair. In this study, the effects of storage conditions on genotoxicity assessed by Comet assay in human whole blood and lymphocyte samples, were evaluated.

Objectives: Thrombotic events are common in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). Warfarin is the most commonly used anticoagulant drug for thrombosis treatment, but it is can interact with many drugs, foods, or medicinal herbs. Herein, we presented a case with SLE and APS who was complicated by spinal and cerebral hematoma as a result of warfarin interaction.

Tigecycline has been approved by the US (United States) Food and Drug Administration in a variety of complicated infections due to its broad-spectrum antibiotic activity. Following phase III trials, the product label was revised and acute pancreatitis was listed as an adverse effect. Its safety profile in special groups such as renal transplant patients is not exactly known.

Objectives: Herbicides are among the most widely used pesticide compounds for plant growth control worldwide. Risk assessment of the dinitroaniline-derived herbicides pendimethalin and trifluralin is important for foodborne or other means of exposure. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the methylation and acetylation profiles of pendimethalin and trifluralin, which we have high levels of exposure to in various ways.

Radiopharmaceuticals are radioactive compounds used in nuclear medicine, consisting of a radioactive moiety and a pharmaceutical part. Radiopharmaceuticals are used for diagnosis (predominantly) and therapy (to a lesser extent). Adverse drug reactions are undesirable, unexpected, often harmful drug responses that occur when the drug is administered in therapeutic doses.

In 2008, the Food and Drug Administration of the US issued a warning about the neuropsychiatric side effects of montelukast. Previous clinical studies on montelukast have reported conflicting results and, to the best of our knowledge, no experimental studies concerning these side effects had been conducted. In the current study, the effect of montelukast on depression-like behavior in an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced mouse model was investigated.

Azole antifungal drugs are commonly used in antifungal chemotherapy. Antibacterial effects of some topical antifungals, such as miconazole and econazole, have lately been revealed, which suggests a promising venue in antimicrobial chemotherapy. In this study, we tested an in-house azole collection with antifungal properties for their antibacterial activity to identify dual-acting hits using the broth microdilution method.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the acid dissociation constant (pKa) of piroxicam using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry, and to determine the partition coefficient (Log P), distribution coefficient (Log D), and "Log kw" values of piroxicam using HPLC.

Materials And Methods: The HPLC studies were performed on a reversed-phase ACE C18 (150x4.6 mm ID, 5 μm) column at a flow rate of 1.

Objectives: Telmisartan (TLM) is an antihypertensive drug that has been shown to have antiproliferative effects on cancer cells. It has low solubility and suboptimal oral bioavailability. To investigate the potential anticancer effect of TLM on breast cancer cells, poly (D, L-lactide) (PLA) nanoparticles were formulated with the benefit of improving its solubility.

The aim of this study was to prepare pullulan-based orally disintegrating films (ODFs) containing amlodipine besylate, an anti-hypertensive drug, by the solvent casting method. For this purpose, nine different ODF formulations (F1-F9) were prepared by using different plasticizers (glycerol, sorbitol, propylene glycol) and different superdisintegrants (croscarmellose sodium, sodium starch glycolate, crospovidone). FD&C Green and aspartame were used as coloring agent and sweetener, respectively.

Background: Potential drug-drug interactions (pDDIs) with immunosuppressive drugs are frequently observed in renal transplant recipients. Drug interaction programs are acknowledged as a fundamental tool to alert physicians to pDDIs, but there is a high concern about variation among different programs in terms of quality and reliability of information.

Objectives: To (a) characterize the difference in severity levels of pDDIs with tacrolimus and cyclosporine provided by 3 drug interaction programs and (b) identify clinically relevant DDIs with these immunosuppressive drugs in renal transplant recipients.
