Aims: The present study investigated receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-Β ligand (RANKL), osteoprotegerin (OPG), and Runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) gene expressions in giant cell tumour of bone (GCTB) patients in relationship with tumour recurrence. We also aimed to investigate the influence of CpG methylation on the transcriptional levels of RANKL and OPG.
Methods: A total of 32 GCTB tissue samples were analyzed, and the expression of RANKL, OPG, and RUNX2 was evaluated by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR).

Background: Breast cancer (BC) patients' diagnosis and management was affected by a global reorganization after the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Our study aimed to assess the impact of the pandemic on the pathological stage of newly diagnosed patients with BC compared to pre-pandemic and to identify predictive factors of tumor advanced stage.
Methods: Pathological records of all consecutive newly operated BC patients between March 2020 and December 2021 were reviewed retrospectively.

Postoperative pain increases the risk of postoperative complications and may predispose patients to chronic post-surgical pain. This study aims to evaluate the impact of ketamine wound infiltration versus placebo at the end of thyroid surgery on postoperative pain and analgesic requirements. In this randomized controlled trial, we prospectively studied patients who underwent thyroid surgery.

This report describes the unique case of a 37-year-old pregnant patient with a history of total thyroidectomy who presented worsening dyspnea due to a recurrent benign goiter. The goiter grew through the tracheal wall and narrowed the tracheal lumen. After unsuccessful treatment with bronchodilators and corticosteroids, the patient underwent an emergency tracheostomy and cesarean section.

Background: Despite the existing evidence that waist circumference (WC) provides independent and additive information to BMI when predicting morbidity and mortality, this measurement is not routinely obtained in clinical practice. Using computed tomography (CT) scan images, mobile health (mHealth) has the potential to make this abdominal obesity parameter easily available even in retrospective studies.
Objective: This study aimed to develop a mobile app as a tool for facilitating the measurement of WC based on a cross-sectional CT image.

Background: Takotsubo syndrome is comparable to microvascular acute coronary syndrome. It may partly share the same pathophysiology debated during scorpion envenomation (SE), with an adrenergic storm, without myocardial infarction due to the absence of coronary artery stenosis. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy can help to better understand the pathophysiology of cardiac involvement during scorpion envenomation.

Introduction: perioperative anxiety in children may lead to psychological and physiological side effects. Clonidine is in increasing use in the pediatric population as an anxiolytic, sedative, and analgesic because of its central alpha2-adrenergic agonist effect. Our study aimed to evaluate the effect of clonidine in the prevention of perioperative children´s anxiety.

Introduction: In the lack of updated Tunisian epidemiological data, we sought to describe the epidemiology of Group B (GBS) in pregnant women and newborns.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis of GBS neonatal invasive infections and a cross-sectional study evaluating the prevalence of maternal GBS colonization were conducted. GBS isolates were tested for antimicrobial susceptibility, serotyped, and assessed for the appurtenance to the hypervirulent ST17 clone.

Airway management in neonates is difficult because of the risk of rapid hypoxia. It presents a challenge even for an experienced anesthesiologist. Oral tumors in neonates can obstruct the airway or feeding problems in the newborn.

Background: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) applies multimodal, perioperative, and evidence-based practices to decrease postoperative morbi-mortality, the length of hospital stay, and hospitalization costs. Implementing enhanced recovery after thoracic surgery (ERATS) in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) is problematic. This randomized controlled trial evaluated the feasibility and effectiveness of an ERATS protocol adapted to LMIC conditions in Tunisia.

Background And Study Aim: During the natural course of HBeAg-negative chronic hepatitis B (CHB), fluctuations in hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels are often observed, making the classification of patients difficult. We aimed to describe spontaneous short-term HBV DNA level fluctuations and to assess the usefulness of qHBsAg in Tunisian patients with HBeAg-negative chronic HBV infection.
Patients And Methods: We included 174 treatment-naive Tunisian patients with HBeAg-negative chronic HBeAg-negative HBV infection.

Burkitt Lymphoma (BL) is a highly aggressive B-type non-Hodgkin lymphoma. It rarely develops at the level of the sinonasal cavities, especially in young children. We present the case of a 2-year-old boy who presented with a 2-month history of nasal obstruction, snoring, and epistaxis followed by a recent dyspnea.

Pesticides are increasingly used in combinations in crop protection, resulting in enhanced toxicities for various organisms. Although protein adductomics is challenging, it remains a powerful bioanalytical tool to check environmental exposure and characterize xenobiotic adducts as putative toxicity biomarkers with high accuracy, facilitated by recent advances in proteomic methodologies and a mass spectrometry high-throughput technique. The present study aims to predict the potential neurotoxicity effect of imidacloprid and λ-cyhalothrin insecticides on human neural cells.

Intramuscular hemangiomas are uncommon benign endotheliomas that typically occur in the trunk and limbs. Head and neck involvement is relatively infrequent, with the masseter muscle being the most commonly affected site. We present a rare case of intramuscular hemangiomas arising from the semispinalis muscle.

Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma is a rare and aggressive form of thyroid cancer that has a poor prognosis and a high mortality rate. It is characterized by rapid growth and invasion of nearby tissues. It typically presents as a rapidly growing goiter or nodule that is firm to the touch and firmly attached to the underlying structures.

Introduction: laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation induce catecholaminergic release. Our study aimed to evaluate the hemodynamic impact of orotracheal intubation by McGrath® compared to the Macintosh laryngoscope in the elderly.
Methods: we conducted a prospective randomized clinical trial that included elderly patients proposed for a scheduled surgery under general anesthesia with orotracheal intubation and divided into 2 groups: patients who were intubated using the McGrath® (group V) and patients who were intubated using the Macintosh direct laryngoscope (group M).

Dysferlinopathy is a rare group of hereditary muscular dystrophy with an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance caused by a mutation in the DYSF gene. It encodes for the dysferlin protein, which has a crucial role in multiple cellular processes, including muscle fiber membrane repair. This deficit has heterogeneous clinical presentations.

Objectives: In the professional environment, low back pain (LBP) is a multifactorial symptomatology, despite scientific and technological advances in the design and the arrangement of increasingly ergonomic workstations. Teachers are not exempt from this risk, due to prolonged sitting or standing. In light of this, this study aimed to estimate LBP prevalence among teachers in Southern Tunisia and to identify their determinants.

High-grade gliomas represent the most common group of infiltrative primary brain tumors in adults associated with high invasiveness, agressivity, and resistance to therapy, which highlights the need to develop potent drugs with novel mechanisms of action. The aim of this study is to reveal changes in proteome profiles under stressful conditions to identify prognostic biomarkers and altered apoptogenic pathways involved in the anticancer action of human isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutant high-grade gliomas. Our protocol consists first of a 3D developing neurospheroid model and then treatment by a pesticide mixture at relevant concentrations.
