Objective: The present conflict in Israel has led to a surge in cases of acute stress disorder (ASD). The study examined a training program for integrative medicine (IM) providers working in supportive and palliative care settings, teaching clinical skills for treating ASD.
Methods: A 10-h online training program, designed by supportive care trained IM and mental health professionals was attended by a group of 32 IM providers.

Methods: A 10-h online training program, designed by IM and mental health professionals, was attended by a group of 32 IM providers working in supportive and palliative oncology care. Pre- and post-course questionnaires assessed self-perceived levels of IM and mental health ASD-related skills (from 1, very low; to 7, very high).

Objectives: The incidence of congenital hypothyroidism (CH) has increased worldwide over the last decades, mainly due to the lowering of screening thresholds, resulting in the increased identification of newborns with transient CH. Several studies have reported the prevalence and the predictive parameters of transient CH, but reports on the long-term outcome are rare. This study aimed to assess the long-term course of neonates with transient CH.

Context: Central congenital hypothyroidism (CCH) is a thyroid hormone deficiency at birth caused by inadequate pituitary stimulation of the thyroid gland. Although primary CH has been studied extensively, studies on CCH are sparse.
Objectives: To assess the prevalence of CCH in Israel and describe its clinical features, neonatal screening results, and outcomes.

Upper gastrointestinal (UGI) symptoms are very common in the general adult population. Dysphagia, heartburn, regurgitation and non-cardiac chest pain are the most common signs. The clinical approach in managing these symptoms starts with upper GI endoscopy in order to exclude inflammatory, neoplastic and fibrotic disorders that involve the esophagus.

Cancer is a consequence of stochastic (mutations, genetic, and epigenetic instabilities) and deterministic (evolutionary bottlenecks) events. Stochastic events are less amenable to prediction, whereas deterministic events yield more predictable results. The relative contribution of these opposing forces determines cancer predictability, which affects the accuracy of our prognostic predictions and is critical for treatment planning.

Importance: Rapid reperfusion during primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is associated with improved outcomes among patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Although attempts at reducing the time from STEMI diagnosis to arrival at the catheterization laboratory have been widely investigated, intraprocedural strategies aimed at reducing the time to reperfusion are lacking.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of culprit lesion PCI before complete diagnostic coronary angiography (CAG) vs complete CAG followed by culprit lesion PCI on reperfusion times among patients with STEMI.

Background: Only scant information is available regarding the bacteriology of acute otitis media (AOM) in neonates.
Objectives: To investigate the bacteriology of AOM post the introduction of Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV13) in children younger than 3 months and its relation to the mode of delivery.
Methods: Retrospective bacteriological analysis of middle ear fluids taken from children younger than 60 months suffering from AOM.

Objective: To evaluate the characteristics and outcomes of infants aged 29-90 days who are febrile discharged from the pediatric emergency department (ED).
Study Design: This was a multicenter, retrospective cohort study of infants aged 29-90 days who visited any of the 7 Clalit Health Services pediatric EDs in Israel between January 1, 2019, and March 31, 2022. Infants who were febrile discharged from the ED after having blood and urine cultures taken were included.

We present a large, multicenter, cohort study that aimed to assess bacterial infection rates among febrile infants up to 90 days old presenting to the pediatric emergency department with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection during 2021-2022 throughout successive variant waves. Overall, 417 febrile infants were included. Twenty-six infants (6.

Introduction: Reducing the risk of renal scarring in infants with urinary tract infection (UTI) necessitates timely and effective administration of antimicrobial treatment. The Israeli Medical Association recommends the empirical use of gentamicin and ampicillin for febrile infants younger than 2 months with suspected UTI. We aimed to assess the prevalence of Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL)-producing and gentamicin-resistant Gram-negative UTI among infants younger than 2 months.

Introduction: The aim of this study is to identify factors that may predict the response of locally advanced rectal cancer tumors (LARC) to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) and to evaluate the effect of circulating lymphocytes on pathological tumor response.
Methods: This retrospective study included neoadjuvant CRT-treated, LARC-diagnosed patients at the Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, Israel. CHAID analysis, t-test, χ test, and ROC curve analyses were performed to explore the association between pathological complete response (pCR) and several factors including patient demographics, tumor characteristics, type of treatment, and levels of circulating lymphocytes measured on a weekly basis.

Introduction: During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic there was a considerable drop in the number of visits to Pediatric Emergency Departments (PED). Unplanned return visits (URV) might represent inadequate emergency care. We assessed the impact of the pandemic on early URV to PEDs in Israel.

Objectives: To determine the value of plasma and urine sTREM-1 levels as a biomarker of lupus nephritis (LN) as well as extra-renal systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
Methods: Consecutive adult patients with SLE attending a tertiary lupus clinic in 2016-2018 were prospectively divided into 3 groups according to SLEDAI-2K and renal-SLEDAI scores: active renal lupus (ARL), active non-renal lupus (ANL), and inactive lupus (IL). Blood and spot urine samples from each group and matched healthy subjects were analysed by means of ELISA for plasma and urine sTREM-1 levels.

Among the main metabolic pathways implicated in cancer cell proliferation are those of cholesterol and fatty acid synthesis, both of which are tightly regulated by sterol regulatory element-binding proteins (SREBPs). SREBPs are activated through specific cleavage by membrane-bound transcription factor protease 1 (MBTPS1), a serine protease that cleaves additional substrates (ATF6, BDNF, CREBs and somatostatin), some of which are also implicated in cell proliferation. The goal of this study was to determine whether MBTPS1 may serve as a master regulator in proliferation of colorectal cancer (CRC).

Background: Few studies describe acute kidney injury (AKI) burden during paediatric cisplatin therapy and post-cisplatin kidney outcomes. We determined risk factors for and rate of (1) AKI during cisplatin therapy, (2) chronic kidney disease (CKD) and hypertension 2-6 months post-cisplatin, and (3) whether AKI is associated with 2-6-month outcomes.
Methods: This prospective cohort study enrolled children (aged < 18 years at cancer diagnosis) treated with cisplatin from twelve Canadian hospitals.
