Objectives: Antifungal susceptibility testing is mostly conducted on blood-cultured Candida spp isolates. Because the intra-abdominal cavity has been highlighted as a hidden echinocandin-resistant C. glabrata reservoir, we assessed whether testing sequential isolates from a given patient might increase the chances of detecting antifungal resistance.

No-reflow phenomenon is frequent in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and has proven to be a strong predictor of mortality. Local fibrinolytic infusion with distal coronary occlusion (previously described as "marinade technique") can be useful in patients with acute myocardial infarction and intraluminal thrombus refractory to aspiration enabling the local effect of the drug, directly applied inside the thrombus, while protecting the microvasculature with prolonged inflation of a distal balloon. We present the early experience of four patients with inferior acute myocardial infarction and high thrombus burden successfully treated with marinade technique in one center.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is characterized by poor survival, mostly due to local invasion, loco-regional recurrence, and metastasis. Given that the weakening of cell-to-cell adhesion is a feature associated with the migration and invasion of cancer cells, different studies have explored the prognostic utility of cell adhesion molecules such as E-cadherin (E-cad). This study aims to summarize current evidence in a meta-analysis, focusing on the prognostic role of E-cad in OSCC.

Chronic hyperplastic candidiasis (CHC) is a prototypical oral lesion caused by chronic infection. A major controversy surrounding CHC is whether this oral lesion owns malignant transformation (MT) potential. The aim of the present study was to evaluate current evidence on the MT of CHC and to determine the variables which have the greatest influence on cancer development.

DNA damage and genomic instability contribute to non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) etiology and progression. However, their therapeutic exploitation is disappointing. CTC-derived explants (CDX) offer systems for mechanistic investigation of CTC metastatic potency and may provide rationale for biology-driven therapeutics.

Objective: Our study is aimed at evaluating the characteristics of the pelvic floor, assessed through transperineal ultrasound, since it may influence or increase the possibility of having a cesarean delivery, with the objective of acting on those variables that can be modified during pregnancy.
Study Design: Transperineal ultrasound was performed on 109 primiparous pregnant women in their first trimester of pregnancy, recruited between May 2018 and February 2019, with the purpose of studying the hiatus area at rest, retention and Valsalva. We have reassessed them at the end of pregnancy and delivery data were recorded.

People with Down syndrome have unique characteristics as a result of the presence of an extra chromosome 21. Regarding cancer, they present a unique pattern of tumors, which has not been fully explained to date. Globally, people with Down syndrome have a similar lifetime risk of developing cancer compared to the general population.

Methods: This cross-sectional survey was performed in a sample of French GPs. The questionnaire included items on their characteristics and questions related to the management of a case-vignette with long-term lorazepam use consulting for a prescription renewal.
We sought to determine the prevalence of female sexual dysfunction (FSD) and to examine the influence of age, menopausal state and quality of life (QoL) on the female sexual function (FSF) of healthy women and those with benign gynaecological disease. With this purpose, we conducted a cross-sectional study, based on self-report questionnaires (sociodemographic, WHOQOL-BREF and FSFI), enrolling 107 women. Some 51.
