Highly bright perovskite light-emitting diodes enabled by retarded Auger recombination.

Nat Commun

January 2025

Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM), Linköping University, Linköping, Sweden.

One of the key advantages of perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) is their potential to achieve high performance at much higher current densities compared to conventional solution-processed emitters. However, state-of-the-art PeLEDs have not yet reached this potential, often suffering from severe current-efficiency roll-off under intensive electrical excitations. Here, we demonstrate bright PeLEDs, with a peak radiance of 2409 W sr m and negligible current-efficiency roll-off, maintaining high external quantum efficiency over 20% even at current densities as high as 2270 mA cm.

Center for Novostics, Hong Kong Science Park, Pak Shek Kok, New Territories, Hong Kong SAR, China;

The discovery of circulating fetal and tumor cell-free DNA (cfDNA) molecules in plasma has opened up tremendous opportunities in noninvasive diagnostics such as the detection of fetal chromosomal aneuploidies and cancers and in posttransplantation monitoring. The advent of high-throughput sequencing technologies makes it possible to scrutinize the characteristics of cfDNA molecules, opening up the fields of cfDNA genetics, epigenetics, transcriptomics, and fragmentomics, providing a plethora of biomarkers. Machine learning (ML) and/or artificial intelligence (AI) technologies that are known for their ability to integrate high-dimensional features have recently been applied to the field of liquid biopsy.

March 2025

Food & Nutritional Sciences Programme, School of Life Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shatin 999077, Hong Kong. Electronic address:

Physical, chemical, and dual modifications can all significantly affect the digestibility of isolated rice granules, while their effects on the starch digestibility of whole cooked rice grains remain elusive. Therefore, the impact of malic acid, ultrasound, and ultrasound + malic acid dual treatment on the starch digestibility of cooked rice grains with different starch molecular structures was investigated in this study. Ultrasound mainly caused cavitation on the surface of rice grains, promoting the leaching of materials (> 11 %) and amylose during cooking.

The representation of driver mutations in preleukemic hematopoietic stem cells (pHSCs) provides a window into the somatic evolution that precedes acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Here, we isolate pHSCs from the bone marrow of 16 patients diagnosed with AML and perform single-cell DNA sequencing on thousands of cells to reconstruct phylogenetic trees of the major driver clones in each patient. We develop a computational framework that can infer levels of positive selection operating during preleukemic evolution from the statistical properties of these phylogenetic trees.

Cryo-EM structure determination of protein-free RNAs has remained difficult with most attempts yielding low to moderate resolution and lacking nucleotide-level detail. These difficulties are compounded for small RNAs as cryo-EM is inherently more difficult for lower molecular weight macromolecules. Here we present a strategy for fusing small RNAs to a group II intron that yields high resolution structures of the appended RNA.
