This study investigates the impact of arc length, current intensity, travel speed, and gas flow rate on surface hardness and line width during arc quenching process of S45C steel. The current intensity has the greatest influence on the surface hardness of S45C steel, followed by the travel speed, gas flow rate, and arc length. Using the Taguchi method, the optimal values of the parameters such as the arc length of 1.

In this study, we present a novel approach to injection molding, focusing on the strength of weld lines in polyamide 6 (PA6) composite samples. By implementing a mold temperature significantly higher than the typical molding practice, which rarely exceeds 100°C, we assess the effects of advanced mold temperature management. The research introduces a newly engineered mold structure specifically designed for localized mold heating, distinguishing it as the 'novel cavity.

This study applied an electro-Fenton process using chemically modified activated carbon derived from rubber seed shells loaded with α-FeOOH (RSCF) as catalyst to remove tetracycline residues from aquatic environment. Catalyst characteristics were evaluated using SEM, EDS, XRD, and XPS, showing successful insertion of iron onto the activated carbon. The effects of the parameters were investigated, and the highest treatment efficiency was achieved at pH of 3, Fe: HO ratio (w/w) of 500:1, catalyst dose of 1 g/L, initial TCH concentration of 100 mg/L, and electric current of 150 mA, with more than 90% of TCH being eliminated within 30 min.

This report aims to examine the effects of impact velocity, impact depth, and impact orientation on the Cu-Ta weld joint of the explosive welding process via MD simulation. The findings indicate that the residual shear stress in the welded block mostly increases as the impact velocity rises. The bottom Ta block is more severely distorted than the higher Cu block due to the impact direction.

The heat transfer characteristics of evaporative condensers in an R744 air conditioning system were evaluated using the numerical and the experimental methods. Two configurations of condensers were studied: Case 1 with five layers of tubes and Case 2 with eight layers of tubes. In order to evaluate the heat transfer characteristics, the temperature field, the phase change, the pressure distribution, and thermodynamic parameters were considered.

EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are the first-line treatment for advanced EGFR-mutated non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, NSCLC patients with wild-type EGFR and KRAS mutation are ineligible for EGFR-TKIs. Therefore, the discovery of new therapeutic agents is urgently needed for NSCLC patients who cannot receive targeted therapies.

The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) solutions improve power generation efficiency, quickly stabilizing the output waveform of photovoltaic (PV) systems under variable operating conditions. Along with new algorithms, improved and adjusted methods to exploit energy from PV systems are increasingly being researched and proposed. However, the proposed solutions based on the traditional algorithms and their improvements have poor performance, while the advanced algorithms or hybrid methods bring high performance but need to be simplified, and the response speed is higher.

Vacant space detection is critical in modern parking lots. However, deploying a detection model as a service is not an easy task. As the camera in a new parking is set up at different heights or viewing angles from the original parking lot where the training data are collected, the performance of the vacant space detector could be degraded.

The wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technique has evolved into a cutting-edge 3D printing technique. This study surveys the influences of trajectory on the characteristics of low-carbon steel samples generated by the WAAM technique. The results show that the grains in the WAAM samples are isotropic, with grain size numbers ranging from 7 to 12.

The influence of an underlying 2-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) on the performance of a normally off p-type metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) based on GaN/AlGaN/GaN double heterojunction is analyzed via simulations. By reducing the concentration of the 2DEG, a greater potential can be dropped across the GaN channel, resulting in enhanced electrostatic control. Therefore, to minimize the deleterious impact on the on-state performance, a composite graded back-to-back AlGaN barrier that enables a trade-off between n-channel devices and Enhancement-mode (E-mode) p-channel is investigated.

Four deep learning frameworks consisting of Yolov5m and Yolov5m combined with ResNet50, ResNet-101, and EfficientNet-B0, respectively, are proposed for classifying tomato fruit on the vine into three categories: ripe, immature, and damaged. For a training dataset consisting of 4500 images and a training process with 200 epochs, a batch size of 128, and an image size of 224 × 224 pixels, the prediction accuracy for ripe and immature tomatoes is found to be 100% when combining Yolo5m with ResNet-101. Meanwhile, the prediction accuracy for damaged tomatoes is 94% when using Yolo5m with the Efficient-B0 model.

This paper proposes an adaptive robust Jacobian-based controller for task-space position-tracking control of robotic manipulators. Structure of the controller is built up on a traditional Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) framework. An additional neural control signal is next synthesized under a non-linear learning law to compensate for internal and external disturbances in the robot dynamics.

The fatigue performance of polypropylene (PP) at various amplitudes and frequencies on fatigue cycles under tensile test conditions is investigated in this study. The results show that increasing the frequency leads to a decrease in fatigue cycles due to increased cycle time. The decline rate can be divided into two stages, between 1 and 5 Hz.

Using gold nanoparticles (GNPs) in high-standard applications requires GNPs to be fabricated with high-quality size and surface properties. Plasma-liquid interactions (PLIs) have the unique ability to synthesize GNPs without using any reducing agents, and the GNP surface is free of stabilizing agents. It is an extreme advantage that ensures success for the subsequent functionalization processes for GNPs.

In micro-injection molding, the plastic filling in the cavity is limited by the frozen layer due to the rapid cooling of the hot melt when it comes into contact with the surface of the cavity at a lower temperature. This problem is more serious with composite materials, which have a higher viscosity than pure materials. Moreover, this issue is also more serious with composite materials that have a higher weight percentage of glass filer.

Introduction: Medical images are usually affected by biological and physical artifacts or noise, which reduces image quality and hence poses difficulties in visual analysis, interpretation and thus requires higher doses and increased radiographs repetition rate.
Objectives: This study aims at assessing image quality during CT abdomen and brain examinations using filtering techniques as well as estimating the radiogenic risk associated with CT abdomen and brain examinations.
Materials And Methods: The data were collected from the Radiology Department at Royal Care International (RCI) Hospital, Khartoum, Sudan.
