Background High body mass index (BMI) and low physical activity are associated with increased risk of hypertension. Few studies have assessed their joint impact or the relation of physical activity and hypertension among individuals within a healthy BMI range. The objective of this study was to investigate the associations between physical activity and hypertension across strata of BMI.

Endosomes regulate cell polarity, adhesion, signaling, immunity, and tumor progression, which may influence cancer outcomes. Here we evaluated associations between 36,068 genetic variants of 228 endosome-related pathway genes and cutaneous melanoma disease-specific survival (CMSS) using genotyping data from two previously published genome-wide association studies. The discovery dataset included 858 CM patients with 95 deaths from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the replication dataset included 409 CM patients with 48 deaths from the Nurses' Health Study (NHS) and the Health Professionals Follow-up Study (HPFS).

Background Failure rates after revascularization surgery remain high, both in vein grafts (VG) and arterial interventions. One promising approach to improve outcomes is endogenous upregulation of the gaseous transmitter-molecule hydrogen sulfide, via short-term dietary restriction. However, strict patient compliance stands as a potential translational barrier in the vascular surgery patient population.

We propose sensitivity analyses for publication bias in meta-analyses. We consider a publication process such that 'statistically significant' results are more likely to be published than negative or "non-significant" results by an unknown ratio, . Our proposed methods also accommodate some plausible forms of selection based on a study's standard error.

Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic has transformed care delivery for patients with opioid use disorder (OUD); however, little is known about the experiences of front-line clinicians in the transition to telemedicine. This study described how, in the context of the early stages of the pandemic, clinicians used telemedicine for OUD in conjunction with in-person care, barriers encountered, and implications for quality of care.
Methods: In April 2020, we conducted semistructured interviews with clinicians waivered to prescribe buprenorphine.

Individuals with cancer may be at high risk for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and adverse outcomes. However, evidence from large population-based studies examining whether cancer and cancer-related therapy exacerbates the risk of COVID-19 infection is still limited. Data were collected from the COVID Symptom Study smartphone application since March 29 through May 8, 2020.

This Commentary shares our experience and lessons learned. Together, the team developed methods to track wildfires, dust storms, pollen counts, urban green space, nitrogen dioxide concentrations and asthma burdens, tropospheric ozone concentrations, and urban particulate matter mortality.

The utility of cognitive data arising from unsupervised assessments remains unclear. We examined the acceptability, usability, and validity of unsupervised cognitive testing in middle-aged adults enrolled in the Healthy Brain Project.

We aimed to examine the associations of healthy lifestyle with mortality according to use of major preventive medications, including aspirin, antihypertensives, and lipid-lowering medications. Methods and Results Among 79 043 women in the Nurses' Health Study (1988-2014) and 39 544 men in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study (1986-2014), we defined a healthy lifestyle score based on body mass index, smoking, physical activity, diet, and alcohol intake.

Background: Data for frontline healthcare workers (HCWs) and risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection are limited and whether personal protective equipment (PPE) mitigates this risk is unknown. We evaluated risk for COVID-19 among frontline HCWs compared to the general community and the influence of PPE.
Methods: We performed a prospective cohort study of the general community, including frontline HCWs, who reported information through the COVID Symptom Study smartphone application beginning on March 24 (United Kingdom, U.

Objective: Assess the prevalence of anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after injury and their association with long-term functional outcomes.
Background: Mental health disorders (MHD) after injury have been associated with worse long-term outcomes. However, prior studies almost exclusively focused on PTSD.

Unlabelled: Pharmacological interactions limit treatment options for children living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and tuberculosis (TB). We found that 12 mg/kg twice daily raltegravir chewable tablets (administered after crushing) safely achieved pharmacokinetic targets in children living with HIV aged 4 weeks to <2 years receiving concurrent rifampin to treat TB.

Background Physical activity (PA), particularly outdoor PA, may have dual effects on cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk: health benefits of exercise and potential harmful effects attributable to increased exposure to air pollution. We examined the combined effects of PA and air pollution on CVD. Methods and Results Sampling from a nationwide cohort study of the Korean National Health Insurance Service, we examined 189 771 adults aged ≥40 years who underwent health examination between 2009 and 2010.

Objective: To compare cancer mortality rates in Mexico from two national death registries that independently code and attribute cause of death.
Materials And Methods: We compared 5-year age-standardized total cancer and sitespecific cancer mortality rates (2010-2014) from Mexico's official death registry with a death registry from a disease surveillance system. We obtained age-adjusted mortality rates and 95% confidence intervals using the direct method and World Population Prospects 2010 as a standard.
Background We aim to evaluate the association of within-individual changes in consumption of total and specific types of nuts and the subsequent risk of incident cardiovascular disease (CVD) in US men and women. Methods and Results We included 34 103 men from the HPFS (Health Professionals Follow-Up Study) (1986-2012), 77 815 women from the NHS (Nurses' Health Study) (1986-2012), and 80 737 women from the NHS II (1991-2013). We assessed nut consumption every 4 years using validated food frequency questionnaires.

Background Environmental health risks for individuals with heart failure (HF) have been inadequately studied, as these individuals are not well represented in traditional cohort studies. To address this we studied associations between long-term air pollution exposure and mortality in HF patients. Methods and Results The study population was a hospital-based cohort of individuals diagnosed with HF between July 1, 2004 and December 31, 2016 compiled using electronic health records.

The goal of the present study was to examine sex differences in RCC histology and survival in Japan, using a large-scale population-based data set.
Methods: With the use of a population-based cancer registry in Japan (2004-2016), patients with primary RCC were followed for 5 years (median follow-up time 2.
