Objectives: Concern about contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) may delay the timely administration of contrast media for computed tomography (CT). The precise causative effect of iodinated contrast media on CI-AKI and its relevant risk factors remains an area of ongoing investigation. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the risk of CI-AKI following contrast-enhanced CT and its predisposing risk factors.

Background And Objective: Cyclosporin A (CsA) exhibits a narrow therapeutic index and large inter-individual variation in pharmacokinetics. Two intermittent and 24-h continuous infusions (CI) are both commonly used regimens in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), with no universal consensus. The objective of this study was to assess whether CsA as a 2-h, twice-daily intravenous infusion (2 h/12 h) is non-inferior to 22 h CI every 24 h (22 h-CI/24 h) in terms of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) incidence and adverse events in allogeneic HSCT adult patients.

Background: Pneumonia is a well-known complication in patients with severe alcohol withdrawal syndrome (SAWS). Antibiotic prophylaxis in ICU treated SAWS patients may be beneficial but data is lacking. The aims of this study were to investigate the effect of introduction of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) prophylaxis, on use of broad-spectrum antibiotics and ICU length of stay (LOS) in SAWS patients with refractory delirium tremens (rDT).

: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of spinal anesthesia (SA) alone versus combined spinal anesthesia with adductor canal block (ACB) and sciatic nerve block (SNB) (SA + ACB + SNB) in patients undergoing arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. We hypothesized that SA + ACB + SNB would provide better analgesia, greater patient satisfaction, and shorter postanesthesia recovery times than SA alone. : A prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted with 60 patients aged 15-49 years scheduled for elective arthroscopic ACL reconstruction.

Background: The screening of TERT promoter () mutations is essential in cancer research and diagnostics, due to its prevalence in tumours associated with low self-renewal rates. TERTmonitor is a diagnosis kit primarily designed for real-time qPCR qualitative detection of -124C>T and -146C>T mutations, which are highly prevalent in several malignancies, particularly in bladder carcinoma.
Objective: This study aims to investigate TERTmonitor performance in droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) in urine samples from bladder cancer patients.

Background: Various mechanisms leading to early hyperlactataemia post-cardiac surgery have been postulated. Specifically, in the paediatric population, benign early hyperlactataemia may be associated with crystalloid priming in the cardiopulmonary bypass circuit. The aim of this study was to review paediatric patients who had crystalloid prime and assess their outcomes.

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is among the common bovine pathogens worldwide. One of the prominent protection measures of BVDV is vaccination. This study aimed to determine the growth characteristics, inactivation kinetics of vaccine candidates using local BVDV strains [TR-26 (BVDV-1f), TR-21 (BVDV-1l), and TR-15 (BVDV-2b)], and the serological response in experimental animals to inactivated BVDV vaccine formulations prepared with different adjuvants.

Background: The objective of this research was the development and evaluation of Pb-labelled panitumumab (Pb-PSC-panitumumab) as an immuno-SPECT radioligand for the detection of EGFR + head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) in a patient-derived xenograft (PDX) mouse model. The 51.9 h physical half-life and favourable γ-emission (279 keV; 81%) of Pb offer an excellent opportunity for developing immuno-SPECT radioligands.

Objectives: Portal inflow modulation is currently an essential step in living donor liver transplantation, particularly among patients with portal hypertension who receive small grafts. This study compared splenic artery ligation with splenectomy as a method for portal inflow modulation.
Materials And Methods: We compared 31 consecutive prospective adult patients who had splenic artery ligation during living donorlivertransplant with either right or left lobe donation performed from July 2021 to March 2024 with 22 consecutive retrospective patients who had splenectomy performed immediately before July 2021.

Clinical experience shows an increased duration of labor in obese parturient women. It is unclear if this population should receive the same dose of vaginal misoprostol for induction of labor as non-obese parturient women. We investigate the influence of obesity on the pharmacokinetics and placental transfer of the metabolite misoprostol acid in parturient women.

Properties of layered superconductors can vary drastically when thinned down from bulk to monolayer owing to the reduced dimensionality and weakened interlayer coupling. In transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), the inherent symmetry breaking effect in atomically thin crystals prompts novel states of matter such as Ising superconductivity with an extraordinary in-plane upper critical field. Here, we demonstrate that two-dimensional (2D) superconductivity resembling those in atomic layers but with more fascinating behaviors can be realized in the bulk crystals of two new TMD-based superconductors BaClTaS and BaClTaSe with superconducting transition temperatures 2.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common type of chronic arrythmia, with a lifetime prevalence of one in every three to five individuals above the age of 45 years. The higher heart rate, abnormal rhythm and inflammation caused by AF lead to changes in the function and structure of the heart. This, over time, can culminate in heart failure.

Background And Purpose: Rescue stent (RS) is an accepted rescue option after failed mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for acute ischemic stroke due to intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS)-related large vessel occlusion (LVO). However, the long-term outcomes (≥ 12 months) of RS have not yet been elucidated.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 154 patients with RS for ICAS-related LVO, which were identified from prospectively maintained multicenter database of RS after MT failure, to assess good outcome (mRS 0-2), mortality, stroke recurrence, symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (SICH) and stent patency.
