Purpose: The anatomy of the spring ligament complex, as well as its pathology, is not well known in daily clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear-wave elastography properties of the spring ligament and the posterior tibial tendon in healthy adults, and to assess the reliability and reproducibility of these measurements.

Methods: Shear-wave elastography was used to evaluate both ankles in 20 healthy patients (10 females/10 males) resting on a hinge support with their ankles in neutral, valgus 20° and varus 30° positions.

Do the sizes of total hip arthroplasty implants match between 3D planning software and 2D templating?

Introduction: The use of three-dimensional (3D) planning before a total hip arthroplasty (THA) procedure is becoming increasingly popular as it offers several theoretical benefits: better restoration of a patient's anatomy, fewer intraoperative problems, and lower THA cost. It is said to be more accurate than two-dimensional (2D) planning, but as far as we know, no study has investigated how well the implant sizes match between 3D and 2D planning for a surgeon who is just starting to use 3D planning. Consistent implant sizes would make it easier for a surgeon to transition from one system to another.

Clinical, genetic and biochemical signatures of -related ocular malformations.

Background: The retinoic acid (RA) pathway plays a crucial role in both eye morphogenesis and the visual cycle. Individuals with monoallelic and biallelic pathogenic variants in (), encoding a serum retinol-specific transporter, display variable ocular phenotypes. Although few families have been reported worldwide, recessive inherited variants appear to be associated with retinal degeneration, while individuals with dominantly inherited variants manifest ocular development anomalies, mainly microphthalmia, anophthalmia and coloboma (MAC).

[Assessment and impairment of cognitive functions].

Cognitive functions enable us to receive, select, store, transform, process and retrieve the information we receive from the outside world. These functions are controlled by different brain structures that interact with each other, enabling us to interact with and understand the world around us. In the course of aging or the onset of neurocognitive diseases, these functions may be impaired to a greater or lesser extent, giving rise to a considerable variety of neurocognitive impairment profiles.

Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the stiffness of the anterior talo-fibular ligament (ATFL) and calcaneo-fibular ligament (CFL) using shear wave elastography (SWE) with the ankle in the neutral position and in varus, in young healthy adult volunteers. We also evaluated the reliability and reproducibility of the SWE measurements.

Background: In a 4 days/week (4/7 days) maintenance strategy (ANRS-170 QUATUOR trial), the virological impact of an intermittent strategy was assessed by ultrasensitive virological analyses of reservoirs and resistance.

Methods: HIV-1 total DNA, ultra-sensitive plasma viral load (USpVL) and semen VL were measured in the first 121 participants. Sanger and ultra-deep sequencing (UDS) were performed on the HIV-1 genome (Illumina technology) according to the ANRS consensus.

Background: Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are clonal hematopoietic diseases of the elderly characterized by chronic cytopenias, ineffective and dysplastic haematopoiesis, recurrent genetic abnormalities and increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia. A challenge of routine laboratory Complete Blood Counts (CBC) is to correctly identify MDS patients while simultaneously avoiding excess smear reviews. To optimize smear review, the latest generations of hematology analyzers provide new cell population data (CPD) parameters with an increased ability to screen MDS, among which the previously described MDS-CBC Score, based on Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC), structural neutrophil dispersion (Ne-WX) and mean corpuscular volume (MCV).

Biomechanical assessment of the central band of the interosseous membrane using shear wave elastography: reliability and reproducibility.

The interosseous membrane of the forearm is an essential structure for the stability of the forearm skeleton, the most important part being the central band. The purpose of this study was to determine if shear wave elastography, a non-invasive ultrasound technique, can be used to measure shear wave speed in the central band and quantify stiffness. Fifteen healthy adult subjects were included (30 forearms).

Lateral endoscopy of the sinus tarsi: Anatomy, technique and current indications.

Numerous pathologies are reported in the lateral mid- and hind-foot. Access to the sinus tarsi is difficult, making lateral endoscopy the preferred approach. The present technical note describes the anatomy, technique and current indications for lateral endoscopy of the sinus tarsi.

[Colorectal cancer and preoperative geriatric assessment].

With the ageing of the population and the increase in the incidence of cancer in the population over 75 years of age, a partnership between geriatricians and oncologists is becoming necessary to optimise the management of these patients. There is great variability in the profiles of elderly patients and age cannot be the only criterion of the decision making. Thus, it is necessary to identify patients who will benefit from an in-depth geriatric assessment (IGA) and the G8 screening tool used in oncology consultations allows to do so.

A Preliminary Study to Assess the Relevance of Shear-Wave Elastography in Characterizing Biomechanical Changes in the Deltoid Ligament Complex in Relation to Ankle Position.

Background: The purpose of this study was (1) to evaluate the biomechanical properties of the different bundles of the deltoid ligament in various ankle positions in a cohort of healthy adult volunteers; (2) describe the impact of demographic and hindfoot morphology characteristics on their stiffness; (3) to assess the reliability and reproducibility of these measurements.

Methods: Deltoid ligament complex of both ankles were assessed by shear-wave elastography (SWE) in 20 healthy patients resting on hinge support. The propagation shear-wave speed (SWS) in ligaments was measured, which is related to the tissue's elastic modulus.

Association between benzodiazepine receptor agonist use and mortality in patients hospitalised for COVID-19: a multicentre observational study.

Aims: To examine the association between benzodiazepine receptor agonist (BZRA) use and mortality in patients hospitalised for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Methods: A multicentre observational study was performed at Greater Paris University hospitals. The sample involved 14 381 patients hospitalised for COVID-19.

A 4-days-on and 3-days-off maintenance treatment strategy for adults with HIV-1 (ANRS 170 QUATUOR): a randomised, open-label, multicentre, parallel, non-inferiority trial.

Background: Intermittent (on 4 days per week) antiretroviral therapy (ART) for patients with HIV-1 might be more convenient, better tolerated, and cheaper than continuous treatment. We aimed to establish the efficacy and safety of a 4-days-on and 3-days-off (intermittent) maintenance regimen versus a standard 7 day (continuous) maintenance regimen.

Methods: In a randomised, open-label, multicentre, parallel, non-inferiority trial, we randomly assigned (1:1) adults with HIV-1 infection with a plasma viral load (pVL) of less than 50 copies per mL for more than 12 months and no drug-resistance mutations to either the intermittent regimen or their existing continuous maintenance regimen, with stratification according to third therapeutic agent (protease inhibitor, non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor, or integrase-strand transfer inhibitor).

Influence of Thoracic Kyphosis on Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty Outcomes.

Introduction: Patient dissatisfaction after primary reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) has been reported as high as 9%.
