Background And Objectives: Kappa free light chains (KFLC) seem to efficiently diagnose MS. However, extensive cohort studies are lacking to establish consensus cut-offs, notably to rule out non-MS autoimmune CNS disorders. Our objectives were to (1) determine diagnostic performances of CSF KFLC, KFLC index, and KFLC intrathecal fraction (IF) threshold values that allow us to separate MS from different CNS disorder control populations and compare them with oligoclonal bands' (OCB) performances and (2) to identify independent factors associated with KFLC quantification in MS.

Background: Hyperglycemia is the most common side-effect of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitors that are approved for the treatment of some advanced or metastatic breast cancers. This side-effect is likely due to the central role of PI3K in insulin signalling. Here we report the use of a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor to manage severe hyperglycemia.

Objective: is an intronless gene on chromosome 9 which plays a significant role in thyroid morphogenesis. Mutations in are associated with thyroid phenotypes including congenital hypothyroidism, thyroid dysgenesis and thyroid cancer. This study aims to investigate the frequency and impact of a SNP (rs965513, G>A) at 9q22.

Genome-wide association studies linked expression of the human neutrophil antigen 3b (HNA-3b) epitope on the Slc44a2 protein with a 30% decreased risk of venous thrombosis (VT) in humans. Slc44a2 is a ubiquitous transmembrane protein identified as a receptor for von Willebrand factor (VWF). To explain the link between Slc44a2 and VT, we wanted to determine how Slc44a2 expressing either HNA-3a or HNA-3b on neutrophils could modulate their adhesion and activation on VWF under flow.

Background: Previous reports suggest initial presentation of IgA nephropathy (IgAN) in children is different from adults. No systematic comparison of clinical, biological, and histological childhood- and adult-onset IgAN is currently available.
Methods: We compared pediatric and adult clinical and histological characteristics at IgAN diagnosis.

Objectives: Neck dissection is a controversial surgical procedure in patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the Larynx free of any node metastasis detected in preoperative staging. The aim of this study was to investigate the distributions of lymph node metastases in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and improve the rationale for elective treatment of N0 neck.
Material And Methods: Retrospective single-center series of Seventy-eight successive patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma who underwent neck dissection between 2008 and 2015.

Objective: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem inflammatory disease characterized by the production of various autoantibodies. The aim of this study was to investigate the presence of anti-ficolin-2 antibodies in SLE patients and to evaluate the association between the levels of these autoantibodies, clinical manifestations, and disease activity.
Methods: This is a comparative study using a cohort of 165 SLE patients and 48 healthy subjects.

Guidelines recommend a ticagrelor loading dose (LD) before PCI or a prasugrel LD at the time of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in intermediate and high-risk non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). However, achieving an optimal PR inhibition at the time of PCI is critical to prevent adverse events and depends on the timing of LD intake in relation to PCI. We aimed to compare the rate of myonecrosis related to PCI in patients with NSTE-ACS receiving ticagrelor pretreatment versus prasugrel at the time of intervention.

Background: The clinical benefit of ticagrelor compared to clopidogrel in ACS patients suggested off-target property. Such pleiotropic effect could be mediated by circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) which are critical for vascular healing. We aimed to investigate the impact of ticagrelor on EPC in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
