Background: Abbreviated antiplatelet therapy (APT) reduces bleeding without increasing ischemic events in largely unselected high bleeding risk (HBR) patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Diabetes mellitus (DM) is associated with higher ischemic risk, and its impact on the safety and effectiveness of abbreviated APT in HBR PCI patients remains unknown.
Objectives: This study sought to investigate the comparative effectiveness of abbreviated (1 month) vs standard (≥3 months) APT in HBR patients with and without DM after biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting coronary stent implantation.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI)-based combinations have become the standard first-line treatment for advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Despite significant improvements in survival and the achievement of sustained long-term responses, a subset of patients remains refractory to ICI, and most will eventually develop resistance. Thus, identifying predictive biomarkers for ICI efficacy and resistance is essential for optimizing therapeutic strategies.

Purpose Of Review: To analyze whether pregnancy could play a role in the higher prevalence of differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) in women. Estrogens strongly modify thyroid economy by increasing iodine clearance, thyroid hormone requirement and production. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) contributes to the increased thyroid hormone synthesis.

Purpose Of Review: To analyze the reciprocal influences between female reproductive life and DTC management.
Recent Findings: Data on pregnancy outcome in DTC patients indicate that after conceiving, these women may need an increased L-T4 dose to maintain suppressed serum TSH levels. Nevertheless, this does not determine major harm in terms of pregnancy outcome.

Background: The history of conflicts in the Middle East has resulted in a high burden of complications from conflict-related wounds like posttraumatic osteomyelitis (PTO). This is particularly challenging to manage in settings like Mosul, Iraq and Gaza, Palestine, where healthcare systems are weakened. In nonconflict settings, PTO caused by (PAPTO) can lead to >20% of treatment failures.

Background: Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection predisposes to malignant and non-malignant diseases warranting eradication. In Belgium, resistance rates for clarithromycin demonstrate regional variations making the use of standard triple therapy (STT) borderline acceptable. According to a recent Belgian survey, STT and bismuth-based quadruple therapy (BQT), are equally frequent prescribed as first line treatment for treatment naïve Hp positive patients.

This report describes a 38-year-old female who was perinatally infected with HIV-1 and treated with 14 different antiretroviral regimens over 27 years, gradually leading to 4-class drug resistance. Despite various attempts to obtain sustained viral suppression, including the off-label administration of intravenous foscarnet and enfuvirtide, and thorough follow-up with 16 viral genotyping/phenotyping from 1999 to 2021, viral control was not maintained.

Background: Blood culture-negative endocarditis (BCNE) is a diagnostic challenge, therefore our objective was to pinpoint high-risk cohorts for BCNE.
Methods: The study included adult patients with definite endocarditis. Data were collected via the Infectious Diseases International Research Initiative (ID-IRI).

Background: Establishing local trimester-specific reference intervals for gestational TSH and free T4 (FT4) is often not feasible, necessitating alternative strategies. We aimed to systematically quantify the diagnostic performance of standardized modifications of center-specific nonpregnancy reference intervals as compared to trimester-specific reference intervals.
Methods: We included prospective cohorts participating in the Consortium on Thyroid and Pregnancy.

Background: Thyroid autoimmunity (TAI) may be present in 1-17% of pregnant women. Monitoring of thyroid function in euthyroid pregnant women positive for anti-thyroperoxidase antibodies (TPOAb+) is recommended.
Objective: To determine the prevalence and possible clinical and biological risk factors of biochemical progression (rise in serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) > 2.

The nutrition of preterm infants remains contaminated by wrong beliefs that reflect inexactitudes and perpetuate old practices. In this narrative review, we report current evidence in preterm neonates and in preterm neonates undergoing surgery. Convictions that necrotizing enterocolitis is reduced by the delay in introducing enteral feeding, a slow advancement in enteral feeds, and the systematic control of residual gastric volumes, should be abandoned.

Background: Current guidelines recommend different postpartum approaches for patients started on levothyroxine (LT4) during pregnancy.
Objective: We studied the postpartum management of these patients and determined factors associated with long-term hypothyroidism.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at a tertiary center between 2014 and 2020, with LT4 initiation according to 2014 ETA recommendations.

Background: Single-anastomosis metabolic/bariatric surgery procedures may lessen the incidence of anastomotic complications. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and safety of performing side-to-side duodenoileal (DI) bipartition using magnetic compression anastomosis (MCA). In addition, preliminary efficacy, quality of life (QoL), and distribution of food through the DI bipartition were evaluated.

(1) Background: infective endocarditis (IE) is a significant health concern associated with important morbidity and mortality. Only limited, often monocentric, retrospective data on IE in Belgium are available. This prospective study sought to assess the clinical characteristics and outcomes of Belgian IE patients in the ESC EORP European endocarditis (EURO-ENDO) registry; (2) Methods: 132 IE patients were identified based on the ESC 2015 criteria and included in six tertiary hospitals in Belgium; (3) Results: The average Belgian IE patient was male and 62.

Background: The optimal ventilation modalities to manage out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) remain debated. A specific pressure mode called cardio-pulmonary ventilation (CPV) may be used instead of manual bag ventilation (MBV). We sought to analyse the association between mechanical CPV and return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) in non-traumatic OHCA.

Background: Stent thrombosis is a potentially lethal complication of coronary angioplasty and responsible for 20% of all post-angioplasty myocardial infarctions. Unusual causes may be overlooked and difficult to identify.
Case Summary: A 70-year-old male with history of triple aortocoronary bypass presented with acute inferolateral ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
