Ultrasound of Postoperative Ankle Instability: How to Manage with Arthroscopic Reparation or Anatomical Reconstruction of Lateral Ankle Ligaments.

Surgical repair or reconstruction of lateral ankle ligaments is indicated in patients with persistent ankle instability, with arthroscopic/endoscopic treatment becoming more frequent. Although presurgical imaging of the ankle is always standard procedure, more is needed to understand the evolution of the repaired ligament or the tendinous graft to help improve length of postoperative time and functional results. This review describes the normal ultrasound aspects and possible complications of repaired/reconstructed ankle ligaments after an all-inside endoscopic repair/reconstruction of the anterior talofibular ligament and the calcaneofibular ligament.

Fenestrated Endovascular Aortic Repair of Complex Aneurysm Using the Anaconda Fenestrated Device: 1-Year Results From the French Multicenter Registry.

Purpose: This study aims to assess the safety and efficacy of the fenestrated Anaconda device for the treatment of complex aortic aneurysms over 1 year in daily clinical practice.

Materials And Methods: All patients who received the graft between October 2019 and October 2020 were prospectively enrolled in an observational, multicenter national registry. The primary endpoint was the aneurysm-related 1-year mortality rate.

Efficacy and tolerance of hyperthermic intravesical chemotherapy (HIVEC) according to the number of instillations administered.

Purpose: To report the oncological outcomes and the tolerance between 6 instillations and more than 6 cycles of hyperthermic intravesical chemotherapy(HIVEC) in patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer(NMIBC).

Methods: This is a multicenter retrospective study from a national database including 9 expert centers. All patients treated with HIVEC between 2016 and 2023 for NMIBC were included.

Precision cancer medicine brought the promise of improving outcomes for patients with cancer. High-throughput molecular profiling of tumors at treatment failure aims to direct a patient to a treatment matched to the tumor profile. In this way, improved outcome has been achieved in a small number of patients whose tumors exhibit unique targetable oncogenic drivers.

Better Rejection-Free Survival at Three Years in Kidney Transplant Recipients With Model-Informed Precision Dosing of Mycophenolate Mofetil.

The clinical impact of individual dose adjustment of mycophenolate mofetil is still debated, due to conflicting results from randomized clinical trials. This retrospective study aimed to compare 3-year rejection-free survival and adverse effects between adult kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) with or without mycophenolate mofetil model-informed precision dosing (MIPD). MIPD is defined here as mycophenolic acid area under the curve (AUC) estimation using a limited sampling strategy, pharmacokinetic models and Bayesian estimators; dose recommendation to reach AUC = 45 mg.

Anterior talofibular ligament's superior fascicle as a cause of ankle microinstability can be routinely identified by ultrasound.

Purpose: Chronic pain can affect up to 40% of patients after ankle inversion sprains. The current hypothesis to explain this high percentage of chronic pain is a partial/total rupture of anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) superior fascicle, a structure that has recently been described as intra-articular and as having a different function than ATFL's inferior fascicle. This has created the need for diagnosing ATFL superior and inferior fascicles independently.

Transforaminal versus interlaminar CT-guided lumbar epidural steroid injections: prospective study of 237 patients with unilateral radicular pain and up to 5 years of follow-up.

Objective: To compare the efficacy of the transforaminal approach (TFA) versus the interlaminar approach (ILA) for CT-guided epidural steroid injection (CTESI) in the treatment of persistent lumbosacral radicular pain (LRP > 6 weeks) with long-term follow-up.

Methods: Patients were prospectively assessed for pain by visual analogue scale (VAS) and functional disability (Oswestry Disability Index, (ODI)) before treatment, then 6 weeks (6W), 6 months (6 M), and 5 years (5Y) after CTESI.

Results: Overall, n = 237 patients (TFA, n = 71 and ILA, n = 166) were included, and 96 patients had 5 years of follow-up.

Purpose: To appraise the performances of an AI trained to detect and localize skeletal lesions and compare them to the routine radiological interpretation.

Methods: We retrospectively collected all radiographic examinations with the associated radiologists' reports performed after a traumatic injury of the limbs and pelvis during 3 consecutive months (January to March 2017) in a private imaging group of 14 centers. Each examination was analyzed by an AI (BoneView, Gleamer) and its results were compared to those of the radiologists' reports.

Poison control centres and alternative forms of communication: comparison of response rates between text message and telephone follow-up.

Introduction: In recent years, the number of patients managed by poison control centres (PCCs) has increased without a proportional increase in the number of physicians. To improve efficiency without neglecting patient follow-up, some PCCs have begun using text messages. We evaluated the difference in response rates between text messaging and traditional telephone follow-up.

Evaluation of the plantaris tendon: cadaver anatomy study with ultrasonographic and clinical correlation with tennis leg injury in 759 calves.

Objective: The role of the plantaris muscle (PM) in the literature is not clear. The objectives of this study were as follows: (1) to study PM at the interface between the medial gastrocnemius and soleus muscle in a cadaveric series, (2) to compare anatomic results with ultrasound (US) in the general population, and (3) to identify the potential role of the PM in the genesis of tennis leg (TL) injury.

Methods: First, a cadaveric study was undertaken on six cadavers for descriptive and functional PM anatomy.

Objectives: The potential contribution of ultrasound (US) to diagnose adductor longus (AL) tendinopathy in athletic pubalgia requires clarification. We investigate US findings from AL tendons of asymptomatic participants to identify the range and prevalence of common US features not associated with groin pain.

Methods: We consecutively enrolled 45 volunteers physically active participants with no history of groin pain.

Phase I or II Study of Ribociclib in Combination With Topotecan-Temozolomide or Everolimus in Children With Advanced Malignancies: Arms A and B of the AcSé-ESMART Trial.

Purpose: AcSé-ESMART is a proof-of-concept, phase I or II, platform trial, designed to explore targeted agents in a molecularly enriched cancer population. Arms A and B aimed to define the recommended phase II dose and activity of the CDK4/6 inhibitor ribociclib with topotecan and temozolomide (TOTEM) or everolimus, respectively, in children with recurrent or refractory malignancies.

Patients And Methods: Ribociclib was administered orally once daily for 16 days after TOTEM for 5 days (arm A) or for 21 days with everolimus orally once daily continuously in a 28-day cycle (arm B).

In the world, the impact of environmental conditions on the number of scorpion events was evaluated in North Africa,Middle East, and the Amazonian region but not in Europe. In mainland France, scorpion species described are Buthus occitanus (Amoreux, 1789), Belisarius xambeui (Simon, 1879) and 4 Euscorpiidae: Euscorpius concinnus (Koch, 1837), Euscorpius italicus (Herbst, 1800), Euscorpius tergestinus (Koch, 1837), and Tetratrichobothrius flavicaudis (De Geer, 1778). We aimed to describe the impact of environmental conduction on the number of scorpion events.

A hexokinase isoenzyme switch in human liver cancer cells promotes lipogenesis and enhances innate immunity.

During the cancerous transformation of normal hepatocytes into hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the enzyme catalyzing the first rate-limiting step of glycolysis, namely the glucokinase (GCK), is replaced by the higher affinity isoenzyme, hexokinase 2 (HK2). Here, we show that in HCC tumors the highest expression level of HK2 is inversely correlated to GCK expression, and is associated to poor prognosis for patient survival. To further explore functional consequences of the GCK-to-HK2 isoenzyme switch occurring during carcinogenesis, HK2 was knocked-out in the HCC cell line Huh7 and replaced by GCK, to generate the Huh7-GCK/HK2 cell line.

Introduction: Musical Ear Syndrome (MES) is an uncommon phenomenon described as the perception of auditory musical sensations not corresponding to any external stimulus. It seems to be more frequent in case of profound hearing loss. Our objective was to evaluate prevalence, characteristics and risk factors in a population of cochlear implant patients.

Long-term kidney and liver outcome in 50 children with autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease.

Background: Autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD) is a rare ciliopathy characterized by congenital hepatic fibrosis and cystic kidney disease. Lack of data about long-term follow-up makes it difficult to discuss timing and type of organ transplantation. Our objectives were to evaluate long-term evolution and indications for transplantation, from birth to adulthood.

An Empowerment Model for Individuals with Chronic Tinnitus.

Objective: This qualitative study sought to construct a model of empowerment for clinical implementation, based on the first-hand experience of a sample of individuals with chronic tinnitus.

Design: The study was conducted in accordance with the inductive approach to data in classic grounded theory (GT). GT aims to build a model of behavior that accounts for the main concern of individuals and how they strive to resolve it.
