Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome (BWS; OMIM #130650) is an overgrowth syndrome caused by different genetic or epigenetic alterations affecting imprinted regions on chromosome 11p15.5. Here we report a family with multiple offspring affected with BWS including giant omphalocoeles in which maternal transmission of a chromosomal rearrangement including an inversion and two deletions leads to hypomethylation of the imprint control region 2 (ICR2).

Background: As a physiological condition closely linked with increased susceptibility to oxidative stress, pregnancy can be further compromised by cigarette smoking. Inadequate nutrition and reduced intake of antioxidants can also disrupt the prooxidant/antioxidant relationship and contribute to oxidative stress. Increased oxidative stress during pregnancy may be involved in several complications of pregnancy, such as preterm labor, fetal growth restriction, preeclampsia and miscarriage.

Background: Therapy-induced leukemia is a well-known clinical syndrome occurring as a late complication in patients treated with cytotoxic therapy.

Observation: We herein present results of analysis of common gene polymorphisms in methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) genes in a 10-year-old boy who developed very rare type of cancer, mixed phenotype acute leukemia, 6 years after treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Conclusions: Impairment in function of GST and MTHFR enzymes found in our patient may have contributed to the development of secondary mixed phenotype acute leukemia, although precise mechanism remains elusive.

Methods: EPO concentrations in the amniotic fluid samples were determined by EpoELISA test in 38 pregnancies with SGA and 15 pregnancies with AGA fetuses. In the SGA group we measured Ponderal index (PI) and skin-fold thickness (SFT).

Cesarean section scar pregnancy treatment--case report.

This is a case report of a 36-year-old patient with an ectopic pregnancy located in the previous cesarean section scar following in vitro fertilization (IVF). The patient was treated by 50 mg of intrasacular methotrexate locally under ultrasound guidance. Transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS) confirmed that the pregnancy was no longer vital within 24 hours, dilatation and aspiration of the ovular tissue were performed after seven days and it was sent for pathohistological analysis.

This investigation was a prospective study performed at the Gynecological Clinic "Narodni Front" in Belgrade. In the investigated group, endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial polyp, and myoma were diagnosed as the most frequent causes of bleeding during perimenopause. The test group of patients was then subjected to hysterosonography in order to diagnose bleeding etiology, followed by hysteroscopy to confirm its etiology based on hysterosonography.
